Via IGN.com we can share for you our first look at the new Transformers R.E.D. 6-Inch action figure series G1 Optimus Prime & Megatron.
This is a new line of non-transformable but detailed action figures. R.E.D, for “Robot Enhanced Design”, Series figures come with interchangeable parts and accessories.
Similar to Hasbro’s other premium figure lines, the Transformers R.E.D. series figures come with plenty of accessories.
Megatron includes “a Fusion Cannon, four alternate hands including one that holds an Energon cube,” as well as an interchangeable hand holding an “Energon Mace accessory.”
Optimus comes with “four alternate hands, Ion Blaster, Energon Axe,” and opening his chest reveals the “iconic Matrix of Leadership.”
Pre-orders for the Transformers R.E.D. series Megatron and Optimus Prime go live on June 26 at 1 pm ET at Walmart.com in the US. Both list for $19.99 and come out September 1.
This reveal finally solves the mystery of our previously reported Walmart Listings for “Generations G1 Red” figures while back in April. According to those listings, we may expect a Soundwave on this new line.

TBH I am hoping for the Constructicons. Because I have the Engineering General figure which is a good scale to display with the team.![[IMG]](https://xogfdrdwnj.execute-api.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/production//galery_image_10040_15365.jpg)

I wouldn't have thought they would cancel the Prime Starscream wave considering test samples were already made and leaked out for them. I really hope they come out, maybe for the Walmart Collector Con this month. I wanted all the main Prime characters but I guess it probably won't happen now. Too bad, this line had so much potential but they just shit the bed so hard with the flimsy plastic, distribution and lack of scaling.

This line is in such a weird space and it affects my other collecting.
I bought R.E.D. Shockwave specifically to give my Classified figures a Megatron gun with blast effect. And I'd probably buy another for the same reason if I saw one or one with a Shockwave pistol usable by 6 inch characters.
In terms of the main releases, I have Bumblebee to go with Super7 Optimus. (It's too damned big for other R.E.D. figures but is perfectly fine to go with S7.)
And I skipped wave 2 Ultimates from Super7 and canceled my preorders for Starscream and Soundwave and so on.
And yet…
If Hasbro announced that R.E.D. G1 Cliffjumper they had a listing for, I'd probably go out and get Super7 Grimlock and Megatron.
And if wave 2 of Super7 Ultimates hit $20 clear out pricing like wave 1 did? I'd be going out looking for the rare Walmarts around me that stock R.E.D. figures still.
But if neither of those things happened, I'd probably not buy any of them and never miss it or just go for the IMHO far superior Yolopark figures that look to be worth the $30-50.
It's weird. It's like… I'd be interested in paying $20-30 for Marvel Legends style Transformers (and maybe more for some) if I thought I could get a shelf's worth of different characters. But if you don't offer me a compatible variety, my next most likely options are not to collect any (and never miss it) or get premium figures that fudge into a regular Transformers collection easier.
I feel like this line would work if we got full casts in appropriate scale with one another but unless we can have at least 12-18 characters who visually go together, I don't want any of them.
And while I could be persuaded to get JUST a non-transforming Optimus and Megatron, I'd want MUCH higher quality. At least Yolopark and maybe Threezero.
There's a marketing insight there, right? If you're going to make cheap-ish stuff, offer generous portions of it that are compatible. And if you're JUST going to sell people on the top characters from each series, don't bother with a $25 rubbery figure and just go straight for a $50-75 premium figure with metallic deco and LEDs and weathering effects.
That's the problem here. At $20-25, we should have worldbuilding. But we don't. Even the G1 characters have no scale.
And if you're NOT going to do worldbuilding, why not do a $50, $75, $150, or even $1200 figure that feels definitive?

ain't that always the case huh

I did see Prime Optimus Prime and Megatron at my area Wal-marts. Prime shelf warmed. I haven't seen a RED figure since around the release of Rise of the Beasts stuff was coming out. Just before that time I was still seeing G! Starscreams.
And now with the news of Velocitron figures showing up at Ross makes me thing that Wal-Mart seriously screwed the pooch on distribution.
BlackHawkOmega
that's not a fair comparison
yolopark isn't sold at retail and they only do movie designs. and in term of accessories, the red figures come with way more in terms of hands and extra parts.
i'd like prime starscream to come out at the very least

If we don’t see anything for RED at the Walmart Collectorcon then good chance the lines dead or almost dead.

The last time we heard anything of this line was during a live stream on June 23rd, last year. That was the wave which included Thundercracker, Prime OP, and Prime Megs. And if i'm not mistaken, they never showed up anywhere outside of Asia.
It's been almost 16 months since anything has happened, I think it's a pretty clear sign that the line is dead. Probably for the better anyway. Yolopark is vastly superior, and at much better value as well.
BlackHawkOmega
well, the prime optimus megatron and g1 thundercracker are up on bbts and entertainment earth. i wonder if it's just that wave that can be sold outside walmart.

Maybe a hiatus for the R.E.D. line? IDK.
Joshb721
I was really we'd see something about them at Pulsecon but nada. Not sure if Toy Fair or NYCC are viable options to show them off.
VVa
I think since there's been a lot of Legacy United reveals, they've just not found the proper time to reveal them? Not sure.
Ilovetransformers22
Is this line considered dead because we haven’t have any reveals yet? Because G1 Grimlock and Prime Starscream leaked but they were not revealed yet. That was back in May when they leaked. It’s now 4 months since they got leaked.
RoadPigJohn
I sold the 3 wave 1RED figures on eBay and I'm just focusing on collecting as non Transformable TF figures, the Super 7 Ultimates… ✌️
VVa
R.E.D. is far from the best line but I dig it. Well the Primes at least, they're cheap fun.

Hey guys idlf you compare Optimus Prime from this line against Super 7 ultimate Optimus Prime, what's your opinion… I have both and I'm really not convinced about them… The Ultimate version looks like a platic Toy in the details and the RED is lacking more vivid colors!

My fault, I got a notification and assumed it was one of the Generations threads I usually frequent. I should have read the title.
protostar8
Cool. I had heard about that one. I was asking about RED series since this is a RED thread. My apologies for not being more clear.
