It’s time for our second round up of international sightings of 2021. This week, new Leader class toys in Australia, R.E.D figures popped up in Indonesia and collectors in Philippines found some US store exclusives at their local retail.

under Beast Wars, Non-Transforming, Transformers R.E.D.

Via PrimevsPrime on Youtube we have our first in-hand images of the new Transformers R.E.D Wave 2 Cheetor.

Cheetor is our first Beast Wars character in the new R.E.D action figures line. As we can see from the images, this mold really catches Cheetor’s cartoon design and includes several extra hands, parts and blast effects. Posability seems to be even better than the first R.E.D Wave 1 G1 figures. You can detach some part like the Cheeta head on his chest to reveal extra inner details. For those wondering about scale, there are some comparison shots of R.E.D Cheetor next to his Mastepiece and Kingdom incarnations plus some group shots with other new Kingdom figures. Cheetor is part of R.E.D Wave 2 together with Transformers Prime Arcee who we had seen some in-hand images before.

Via the HK-TF 變形金剛香港網盟 Facebook group we have our first in-hand images of the new Transformers R.E.D Arcee (Transformers Prime) for your viewing pleasure.

Arcee is part of Wave 2 of the new Transformers R.E.D action figures together with Cheetor. While not transformable, this figure really shines in cartoon-accuracy. We are sure many Transformers Prime fans will be pleased with the design and poseability of this figure. For those wondering about scale, we have comparison shots next to First Edition Deluxe Arcee which show that the new R.E.D figure slightly taller.

Hasbro Pulse have just uploaded a very interesting “Behind-the-Design: Transformers R.E.D. (Robot Enhanced Design) article which explains the creative process behind these new action figures.

Hasbro’s Transformers Engineer Lenny tells us about all the original ideas, challenges and development steps of this new non-transforming line. Read on for some highlights:

  • They wanted to create a line that celebrated the robot form without having to make any compromises for conversion functionality.
  • They were pleasantly surprised to find the research indicating that there was demand for these types of figures (non-transforming action figures).
  • Their main focus is poseabilty and robot detail. Also accessories, those can be the first to get cut for a typical Transformers figure.
  • They reference signature poses the characters may be famous for and try to ensure that the articulation system can achieve them.
  • They decided to choose characters from all the Transformers brand. That’s why they didn’t choose to go in chronological order, but picking up iconic characters from different universes in the waves.
  • The name R.E.D (Robot Enhanced Design) was chosen on the idea that this is a celebration of the robot mode so they are enhancing the robot design and making sure it is the first priority. Red is also an iconic Transformers color, its logo is in red, Autobots are red, we’re all about the red.

As Christmas comes closer, we have several new toys in shelves around the world. This week: France receives new Netflix War For Cybertron, Earthrise and even some US exclusives at retail. R.E.D figures showed up in Mexico and a new Earthrise Deluxe wave is available in Peru. Fans in Philippines found the latest Earthrise and Cyberverse waves and even a Masterpiece toy. Stores in Scandinavia offer new Cyberverse and Earthtise toys and their first Commander Class toy.

The toy reveals keep on coming as we move on to the Transformers RED line with characters from various franchises instead of just G1!

  • Prime Arcee revealed
    • comes with two forearm weapons.
    • Comes with two blaster weapons and two energy effects.
    • Alternate “trigger” finger hands
    • Comes with Dark Energon “ore” cube.
  • Beast Wars Cheetor
    • Wanted to “hyper realize” with fur texture.
    • Thickened his thighs, v-taper so he has a runner’s physique.
    • Comes with an energon crystal, blaster and blast effects.
    • Removeable chest plate to see his transformation cog. Sculpted on the inside. Arcee has the same kind of feature.
    • Will be up for preorder at Walmart at 5pm EST

Hasbro has applied for a non-transforming Metroplex trademark at the United States Patent & Trademark Office.

This new application is different from the existing application (2017 onward) due to the description highlighting the fact that the toy does not transform.

Usual Transformers trademarks (including the existing one for Metroplex) carry the following description: “Toy action figures, toy vehicles and toy robots convertible into other visual toy forms”.

However, this non-transforming Metroplex is described as follows:

“Toy action figures and accessories therefor; Toy robots; Toy vehicles and accessories therefor”

There is no official info as to what this trademark is for, but it is very likely that we may see a R.E.D. Metroplex down the line if this trademark is converted (pun intended) to an actual toy.

Good news for Canadian fans! The new Transformers R.E.D (Robot Enhanced Design) Wave 1 has just been found at retail in Canada, thanks to a report via friend site Cybertron.ca.

The first wave of new G1-inspired action figures: Optimus Prime, Megatron and Soundwave were found at a Walmart in Alberta by Cybertron.ca member Team Jetfire.

We hope this means that a US release isn’t far behind. Happy hunting!
