The official Facebook page of Transformers Live Action Movies, has revealed the movie poster for Transformers: The Last Knight.
The poster features purple eyed Optimus Prime standing besides a possible lifeless Bumblebee.
In the background is a structure very much like the moon-eating planet from the trailer. Another structure can be spotted in the sea.
The poster caption reads “Rethink Your Heroes”.
Update: Download the Hi-res version from Michael Bay’s official Flickr account.
Check out the poster, after the jump.

What if he\'s being courrpted by dark Energon or something like that? It\'s only other instanct that I know of where a Transformer\'s eyes turn purple like that?

Not going to 'rethink' my hero, but the poster is okay.

I\'m really excited for this movie, more excited than when the AOE trailer released. I feel like this could be a better sequel, if it is all the odd transformer movies will be my favorites and the evens will be my least. Sick poster though, again can\'t wait.

Well done, Scorpio. Well done.

Hate how Prime looks like a guy in a suit..

I just hope the cgi is awesome. The story and acting always suck in these bay movies so I'm not getting my hopes up too high, but as long as it looks cool, I'm cool. My film production teacher would punch me in the face for talking like this. Lol

I think this will be a better movie than AOE. We will just have to wait and see

The quentessons didn't need to do much to Optimus. They just enhanced what was already there in his inner self just a little. And there you go.
Will the real Optimus please stand up: I am Nemisiss Prime.
Megastar
No it wouldn't you just needed a few human who weren't high up to look the other way and say the Autobots where on the ship. Or just having the smart people going "This is a dumb plan, so lets fake the Autobot exile". Anything else would have been smarter than what they did in that movie.

I love how people are flipping thwie shir over the possibility of Optimus having always been "controlled". Or his slow decent.
It's already been CONFIRMED that he will "step down" at the end of the movie after questioning his leadership and that their will be a new prime. The poster is great, but nothing more then just something to get you thinking about/misdirection. We already know Optimus is being physically controlled from him asking them to "Forgive Me." Implying Optimus is still in control of his and just not his body. I do agree though, he hasn't been the best leader and it seems this event of being controlled by whoever will finally get him realize this and pass the torch.

Shrek-cellent poster this week, Shrek-cellent teaser trailer last week! I do not know how this film will turn out, but so far it looks visually fantastic!
And the whole idea that Optimus Prime is (most likely) controlled by a sinister force to do evil makes perfect sense given both the history of the brand and threads started in the last movie.
First, the Quintessons are confirmed, and they were the ones controlling Optimus in "Dark Awakening." I sense some serious G1 inspiration in this film. Might as well get some inspiration from a well known Season 3 episode.
Second, Lockdown said the Transformers were built to do as they were told, and they were also made of a programmable metal. Attempts by the Quintessons and their allies to control Optimus and other Transformers is a logical route to be explored further. Cybertronians were built to be slaves and not free, sentient beings.

At this point I wouldn't be shocked that even if TLK manages to fix a lot of the problems the past movies have and does it's own share of good things the fandom would most likely still find ways to rip it a new one saying things like "TOO LITTLE TOO LATE BAY YOU HACK!!" and "RAAAGH OPTIMUS SHOULD STILL NEVER BE THIS VIOLENT TO BEGIN WITH EVEN THOUGH THE MOVIE EXPLAINS WHY HE'S LIKE THAT!!!" Which is why I'm not actually expecting some of the fandom to show any more mercy in that regard for the eventual reboot to come even if the reboot does end up being more G1 faithful or at least have elements most TF fans prefer. It's a no win situation if you think about it no matter what direction they take pretty much like how in the toy department Hasbro's going to get flak even if it makes the right calls.
As for what you said about Bay and his crew either getting it or not perhaps it's bit of both. Like they're somewhat getting more of a better idea of the lore but aren't getting their just yet. It's also possible that they're trying to listen to feedback but along the way they seem to take the wrong ones to heart as well as the right ones. Could be wrong either way but still.

Hahaha. Busted. Nice work Scorpio. Marvel is more suited for art deco anyway. Transformers just needs to keep it straight up dieselpunk.

To me, this is why i feel The Last Knight's 'Evil Optimus' does not work;
Bumblebee
He's kind of like a failed attempt at Groot in my view. The non-speaking gimmick could have worked via communicating with beeps. This becomes even more evident when compared to the Transformers Prime version of the character – who had a personality displayed entirely by 'beeps' and a rewarding story arc in which he regained his voice for one of several of the epic moments that the show had.
In the movie-verse they have constantly failed to use him effectively, instead just quoting or using dialogue from random movies or TV shows for the sake of referencing them ended up with me thinking more about those movies or shows rather than him as a character. This coupled with him primarily being used to save the protagonist or simply not adding anything to the story other than a robot fight make it virtually impossible to care for him.
Its no coincidence that the main human protagonist is shoved into the scene with Bumblebee and Optimus fighting – its clear enough that the writers also feel that the scene wouldn't be powerful enough with just Optimus Vs Bumblebee and needed to add a human element where Bumblebee is defending Cade OR simply have Cade caught in the conflict.
The few brief moments of actual dialogue he had sort of worked, but i cant really connect well with him as a character because his gimmick takes away from the core element of the character – his lack of a voice. He's still effectively speaking – even though he's supposed to have lost his voice. In Transformers Prime they handled this with beeps that were only really understood by Raf – this connected the two as characters and enabled them to have Bumblebee speaking to an extent through the beeps.
Optimus
Optimus's movie-verse counterpart is easily the most difficult to relate to. While Optimus in other versions has some sense of leadership, caring for his group and at least a few good morals – the movie-verse version doesn't have anything other than anger.
His leadership skills are never shown, instead any aspect that could be warranting of leadership is immediately contradicted in a later film or even in the same movie.
• He's shown as a tactician in the 2007 movie by explaining the plot to the audience and surrounding Autobots before saying for them to roll out… but the in Revenge Of The Fallen he is reckless rushing into battles without thought or logic resulting in his death due to pure ignorance of his surroundings.
• Optimus doesn't show any sign of caring or sympathy towards the deaths of a majority of the Autobots. Jazz and Ratchet are currently the only Autobot deaths to have any sort of acknowledgement by Optimus while character's he's supposed to be even closer to such as Ironhide never even get a mention.
Scapegoat's and sequels
Its quite clear from the trailers and the purple eyes that something is manipulating Optimus. This evil entity, likely the Quintessons, Unicron or even Primus, is going to be used to lay all the blame for Optimus's evil actions in The Last Knight and potentially by extension the other movies. This would remove all blame from Optimus – but at the same time mean that the character we've been watching for the past few movies has just been a pawn of the villain for The Last Knight
I suppose the tagline would work in that regard, every act in the previous movies done by Optimus being entirely manipulated so that the events of The Last Knight could happen – Optimus going into 'kill mode' whenever decided, hunting down Megatron in order to get him out of the picture so he couldn't interfere…
Its just that this wouldn't be a good completion of the completely unintentional story arc of Optimus getting more evil and uncaring in each film. Its definitely unintentional because there is a massive amount of verbal contradictions to his actions – but its quite clear that in terms of Optimus's actions and words that he has become increasingly violent and unsympathetic as the movies go by.
Having an evil being come into the movies now and using that as an excuse for Optimus's behaviour to me would feel like they are just making excuses, given they obviously never intended to do a series of films otherwise they would have connected them better.
The only one's that have felt connected so far are;
• Transformers and Revenge Of The Fallen
• Dark Of The Moon and Age Of Extinction
However none of these were planned. I expect that they decided to abandon the potential connected trilogy of the first three films when they made Dark Of The Moon thanks to Megan Fox leaving and the poor reception of Revenge Of The Fallen.
In Age Of Extinction they connected the plot to Dark Of The Moon in order to ensure that the soft reboot worked. With The Last Knight they are doing this again primarily because they want to set-up spin-offs.

I thought it could have worked if the Autobots and Humans knew of the Decepticon's plan and sent the ship up knowingly as a distraction, but having the humans willingly exile the Transformers made me not care for the humans in DOTM and having the Transformers acknowledge that it was a trap and purposefully avoid interfering in the slaughter of Chicago made me not care for the Transformers in DOTM.
Facial structure is identical and the pose is mirroring the shot of Black Panther in Civil War's trailer, only difference is the ears are slightly more pointed and coming off the sides rather than the back.
Not saying its identical, but its pretty close in terms of basic design elements. Enough to where i can see why Misfire mentioned it. Even the lines on the side of the face match-up with the outline of Optimus's grills and the basic head segmentation with the silver lines mirrors that of Optimus.
Furnace
But when I see Black Panther I don't see Optimus, so…
SonOfNemesis
Hmmm…that could just be a human hiding behind some sort of new age costume…kinda losing the transformers vibe in my opinion. If you painted it all silver and such it might even look like a futuristic samurai warrior with just an over the top amount of armor plating. Not sure if I like it yet..kinda getting there I guess.
Raiju
In Optimus Prime's case, it looks like both situations will apply to him.
