It was not too long ago that we posted a Job Opening at Kabam (Vancouver, Canada) for their upcoming Transformers Mobile Game.
Today, GameSpot is offering us our first official look at the game as well as the title and info.
Confirming previous rumors, the new game is titled as Transformers: Forged To Fight.
Described as a “high-definition, action-fighting role-playing game with strategy elements,” Forged to Fight claims to offer trademark Transformers action. You will assemble an “ultimate” team of Transformers, including Autobots and Decepticons from across almost every era of the Transformers history, and then do battle. The game is set in a colorful 3D world, and battles take place in a number of varied and unique arenas.
The game is set in a “strange new world where multiple realities collide,” which in turn creates a “massive planetary battlefield.” So, you know, Transformers stuff. Some of the features include 1v1 battles, RPG elements described as being “deep,” and base-rading. Some of the playable Transformers include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, and Grimlock. These characters can be leveled up through gameplay, unlocking more abilities over time.
Forged to Fight enters beta in some territories soon, and will be released widely across the world in Spring 2017. The game is in development at Kabam Vancouver, which is the studio that made Fast & Furious: Legacy and Marvel Contest of Champions.
GameSpot had an opportunity to speak with Kabam’s executive producer Mike McCartney and Hasbro executive Mark Blecher about Forged to Fight. You can read the entire article at Game Spot.
Update: Official Press Release after the break, and intro trailer is below!
Kabam and Hasbro have united to create a new high-definition, action-fighting and character collection mobile game set in the immersive world of Transformers. ‘TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight,’ will feature intense one-on-one battles, meaningful robot to vehicle converting action and deep RPG elements. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream and Grimlock will level up over time, unleashing powerful new abilities and devastating robot-vehicle attacks.
In TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight, players will be able to collect the most memorable Transformers from every era of the brand’s thirty-plus year history — including Autobots and Decepticons from the animated TV series, blockbuster films, as well as fan-favorites from the Transformers comic book series and Hasbro’s line of iconic figures. As fans assemble their team, they will forge alliances, battle other players and dive into a unique storyline that goes beyond good versus evil.

There are also a bunch of videos on youtube of people playing the beta, for anyone interested. Fighting gameplay, story, base raiding, crystal opening trying to get 3 or 4-star characters (that seems familiar ). This looks pretty solid for a mobile game.

This game still looks pretty cool, I look forward to seeing the full roster.

Same.

I'm not going to lie, I don't think they'll ever do it… but if they did, I would buy it day one.
lordmegatron64
so, MK Transformers with the DJD please. ^^
SouthtownKid
Fair enough.
lordmegatron64
OvO you're mistaken. That M rating clearly means nothing to people. Over half of the FPS community is under 15. And don't forget, WFC, FOC, and Armada, Which are my favorite Transformers games of ALL time, Are all rated T for 13+. Hell, Even the movie games were rated T. We're past that "Transformers are for little kids" shit. This game's character majority comes from the comics (not for your so-called demographic) and the movieverse (also not your so-called target).
SouthtownKid
lol no they don't. Not unless they have terrible parents. Regular Transformers are rated for ages 5+. Yeah, there's a plus, but there's also a 5. Their biggest audience is the 5-12 range. All too young to play anything rated M. Why are we even still talking about this? It doesn't have anything to do with this game.
lordmegatron64
Who the hell wants nudity? Im talking about brutal robot carnage. Youre so called "target audience" also plays CoD, Halo, and Gears of War.
SouthtownKid
Okay, fair enough. But do you understand how getting an M rating for their game cuts out 80% of the audience they are after? NEWSFLASH: There will also be no nudity in a Transformers game. Just throwing that out there before you ask for it.
lordmegatron64
The movie Megatron in the trailer sure didn't look like the toy. In fact…None of the movie characters NOR Windblade (HI! I'M WINDBLADE!) are based on their Toy designs. It's literally just Optimus.
SouthtownKid
Do you know the difference between movies and toys?
lordmegatron64
HAHAHAHA! You do realize that Comics are digital now, right? Movieverse was targeted at the exact same age group as the comics.
SouthtownKid
Yeah, a lot of people have yet to read them. That's another, completely separate problem. One that has zero to do with this game.
But the comics are aimed at an older audience than the mainline toys. One that finds and frequents a comic shop. And then pays $4 a shot for a thin little comic. There's a difference between that and a free phone app that any kid can download instantly without leaving home.
lordmegatron64
lol someone has yet to read the comics which are also "aimed at everyone".
SouthtownKid
I don't need or even want MK fatalities in a game based on toy character designs.
I mean, maybe fatalities would fit in a game only of movie designs. Face-ripping and whatnot. But they'd be out of place in a game that largely features Generations designs and which they're clearly hoping will have a wide kid audience. This is a mobile game aimed at everyone, not a rated M console game.
lordmegatron64
Because it wont be as brutal as MK.
GreyRouge
This is a similar type game with the fighting and the likes of Kabam's Marvel Contest of Champions app. I don't understand why yall don't see the resemblance.
lordmegatron64
I disagree. The DJD need more love. And they would be PERFECT additions for that game.
