Via Comicbook.com, we can share for you an interview with Transformers Producer Lorenzo Dibonaventura where he talks about the possible Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover in the live-action movies.
While about his last film: Madame Web, Dibonaventura was asked about the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover. He admitted there was still a lot up in the air, but that it would happen at some point in the future:
“The honest truth is I don’t know,” di Bonaventura told us. “I know we are going to deliver on the promise we made.”
Transformers Rise Of The Beasts last scenes presented G.I. Joe, and left the door open to more adventures together with the Transformers. While back in 2023, ROTB Director Steven Caple Jr had also talked about the possibility of including the Joes in future sequels.

Transformers Producer Promises G.I. Joe Crossover Is Coming Soon (Exclusive)
Transformers and GI Joe will be sharing the big screen in the future.
By CHARLIE RIDGELY – February 12, 2024 04:27 pm EST
Fans of the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises got quite a treat at the conclusion of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The new Transformers film ended with its lead human character, Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos), getting an invitation to join the ranks of G.I. Joe. Since the movie hit theaters last summer, there’s been no word on the future of either live-action franchise, nor when the payoff to that crossover set up will arrive. Fortunately, those involved are still keen on making it happen.
ComicBook.com recently had the chance to chat with Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura ahead of his latest film, Madame Web. When asked about the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover, he admitted there was still a lot up in the air, but that it would happen at some point in the future.
“The honest truth is I don’t know,” di Bonaventura told us. “I know we are going to deliver on the promise we made.”
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Sets Up GI Joe Crossover
After the G.I. Joe organization was teased in the final moments of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, director Steven Caple Jr. opened up about how the long-awaited crossover came about in his film.
“Yeah, it was figuring out a way to use the G.I. Joe technology because they’re known for their tech,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I was like, ‘Maybe we don’t have to go through the classic characters like Snake Eyes and Duke and all these other characters. Maybe there’s a way we can use other characters that haven’t been utilized as much.’ There’s different series and editions and different factions of G.I. Joe as well,” Caple Jr. said. “There’s G.I. Joe: Renegades and different branches of it, too. So I started to play with that, and I pitched versions of it to the studio and the producers. I pitched a direction I wanted to go in and ways to branch out the universe in general. Transformers movies have scope and size, but we’ve been spending a lot of time here on Earth, so I just think there’s more out there. Even in the graphic novels for Transformers, there’s other planets and things like that, and I was like, ‘We’re just thinking too small.’ So, if we’re going to do movie number eight and nine and ten, maybe there’s a way to make this all more expansive and branch out.”

If I had to pick between TMNT and Power Rangers
I say Power Rangers
I don't see TMNT
JD The Last Autobot
TMNT could be, I like it xd
Luke Stark
I think they just need to stick with Transformers and G.I. Joe and not add too many properties
Godzilla Ranger
Might as well include the Power Rangers reboot and TMNT into this shared universe.
Ignore the kid’s shirt in RotB
Minibots
I will forever wish we got that film instead of ROTB.
Luke Stark
Hound and Powerglide I can see for this type of movie since they would fit well with the Joe characters
Blaster is an interesting choice though I am not sure what he will turn into
Cliffjumper is dead so sadly I don't expect his return
And Tracks would work
Personally I say switch Kickback for Thundercracker
Kickback seems like a really odd choice for the next movie and also seems weird you didn't include the other two

Yeah, the main thing most of my family members remember about G.I. Joe are the old 12 inch Barbie-sized figures (which aren't even available anymore) and the old car commercials featuring his "rivalry" with Ken.

I mean awesome? At this point they have been pushing this for a bit, and I just hope it delivers.
Fact is I’m not the target demo, but I pray it delivers for those who are.
Rojixus
Literally all you need, it's not a complicated concept.
Neko-bot77
They are promising a crossover movie, but I prefer they promise a GOOD movie.
Echostride Prime
I think-
They First need to introduce the GI Joe to normal guys. I don't think any of them know about it. I even asked my friends and they were like 'GI What?'

I also felt a "GI-JOE" effect with all the military present in the Bay Movies and BB as well. However, the difference is, that in GI-JOE, we have iconic characters and in both sides.
Just too many characters to deal with.

As long as the toyline is good, I don’t care how the movie does. I don’t have high expectations with the current TF team at Paramount.
transmasterc
God please don’t let this suck. Though it probably will.
Lion
and I do love the neon ninja brigade.
Vector Oracle
Can’t argue with that (although I do have a soft spot for Tiger Force). I’m excited for the toyline either way.
Lion
yeah, I know. But Joes in the 80s where so much better than the 90s.

The Optimus Prime and Bee buddy film became ROTB as more people signed onto the project and changed it.
Vector Oracle
You’re right. It’s an in-house licensed property, as opposed to Marvel or Star Wars, which is why I had that brain fart to begin with.
On one hand, we’re in the right timeframe for the G.I. Joe/TF movie to happen (announced the year after ROTB came out and scheduled for 2 years from now), but on the other hand, the Optimus Prime solo movie that Lorenzo kept talking about as a sequel to Bumblebee never came to fruition. We’ll see.
If the G.I. Joe/TF movie is a sequel to ROTB, it would have to take place in the mid-90s or later since ROTB took place in 1994.

As an 80s kid, I, of course loved both. I do feel a Micheal Bay style military Joe movie could work well. And the soldiers in the 2007 movie could have easily been Joes.
I don’t get the fans here that don’t want Joe anywhere near TFs considering the military presence in most of the films. Has Joe had a good movie, realistically, no, but I liked Retaliation enough. I liked the 07 movie, but after that, they were just silly – I supported because I was a transformers fan, but didn’t buy many of the toys- choosing to stick to MPs and others. But you can’t tell me tf movie has been any better. Rise of cobra was bad, snake eyes was bad, but they tried, and at least kept the toys lines on shelves for a bit. Bumblebee definitely sent it in the right direction, and I was giddy at the crossover scene (at least the potential)
I want a bonkers good movie with both represented well- will it happen, probably not- but whatever they make, ill support because I love both brands and deeply want them to succeed.
My hope is they set it in the 80s, that way it can at least be campy and sentimental. Even S7 could branch off, creating GI Joe.
My desired characters-
Hound , Cliffjumper, Powerglide, Blaster, Tracks, Stalker, Scarlett, clutch, Breaker, Doc, Duke, Rock and Roll- Snake eyes (cameo) Prime (cameo)
Soundwave, Dirge, Skywarp, Kickback, Jetfire (who turns baby face half way in after several Greenshirts and Bazooka killed by) Megatron and Baroness, Firefly, Twins, Mindbender, Zartan. Cobra Commander (cameo)
