Well I'm getting my set today from Gamestop (hopefully) and I will weigh in on Soundwave. All I know is that these boards are filled with people loving and hating the same thing so I can't take anyone's take to heart until I mess with something in hand.

Now, see, that's a reasonable response. And hey, you might enjoy him or even love him. If so, that's great. More power to ya!

Oh please, no this again. I don’t understand the hate to Soundwave. The cheap hollow plastic syndrome is not new at all at this point. We have lived in the CHPS era by 10+ years and we are surprised now? Really?

Prime and Bumblebee look amazing for current low standards, that is what should be highlighted. Current Transformers are far away from being high quality toys.

Visually, Soundwave isn't the worst. But he is ridiculously hollow, he's cheap feeling, and he could've been so much more.

We're allowed to complain about an item we bought and actually have IRL experience with. It's one thing to sit there and criticize if we didn't have it, which 99% of the time that what the complaining voices do. (I know, I've been one of them.) It's entirely another to have us give a quick rundown of something we actually have, then basically tell us we're wrong and so on.

Don't do that. And this isn't CHPS. His entire arms are completely waffled. Almost none of the budget went to him. It's one thing to see a thigh or a bicep have waffles, maybe a compartment for the hands to fold into, but this is his entire arm. I don't know of too many, if at all, modern figures suffering from that these days.

Last time I saw it that bad? FOC.

I'd have preferred Soundwave get a voyager budget. He's a little too spindly for my liking. The weapon in his hand looks terrible. And he's not the same without a working tape deck for all the tapes we've gotten in the past few years

Exactly. That's what he needs to fix these problems. I'd imagine he's in the pipeline, somewhere.

Yup, we first found out about them in late 2021 and they've been holding them back for a while.

They needed heavily reworked and had all that time. They deserve better than what Soundwave got. He feels like one of the figures you'd find at Dollar General/Family Dollar/Five Below/Walgreens. Just with far more articulation. The only positives I'll give him are as follows:
1.) Vehicle mode ain't half bad.
2.) Wrist, waist swivels, ankle pivot.

It's such a shame he wasn't better after all this time. I really hope someone comes up with a filler kit that does something for him. One of those resin kits that are painted, not the run-of-the-mill 3D printed kits that barely get the job done.

GameStop, oddly enough. Released on the 4th, shipped the next day. Preorders went out earlier.
I'm hoping Starscream and Bumblebee are better than this set. *sigh*

I checked the stamp on Soundwave and they're dated for 2020… So these have been in the pipeline for quite some time. Yuck.

Plastic feels super cheap. Despite his size they still felt the need to load him with hollow parts he's basically 2D in places. He looks decent, but is so different to prime in general quality. Mine has stress marks out the box

The waffles are so much worse in person. The plastic is kind of thin and feels subpar. The paint apps don't bring out any details. His transformation feels cringey. His plastic, for what it is, is sturdier than FOC Jazz but it's still just "meh".

Code Red feels leaps and bounds better than this and it's waffley and hollow. Blows Soundwave out of the water.

Prime is much better. He's not going to win any awards in my book, but compared to Soundwave, he's magic.

Prime's okay, but he's nowhere near as good as images would have you believe and both Siege and Earthrise/Kingdom feel premium compared to this guy. The plastic has a lot of give.
Soundwave is depressing. We're there, we're finally fuggin' there. He's full-on FOC-level. He's this decade's FOC Jazz and I'm *PISSED*. There's no reason we should be paying $25.00 for this piece of shit. This SOB makes Legends/Core Class feel Masterpiece. HE SUCKS.

Shame on you, Hasbro. The corners you cut are beyond necessary. And to the design team, guys, c'mon. This is beneath you.
