Hot off the release of MP-29 Laserwave, TakaraTomy has announced the next entry of their Masterpiece toy line, MP-14+ Alert Anime Color Edition. As its name suggest, this version of Masterpiece Red Alert will be paint in a color scheme much closer to the character’s on screen appearance. The most telling difference between the two versions is the off-white paint replacing the pure white seen on the original release. The silver on the rims, weapon and robot mode feet will also be replaced by that off-white color. Lastly, the accessory part used for emulating “Circuit Trouble” will be molded in a clear orange instead of clear blue.
According to the listing, this release will be priced at 8,424 yen and is schedule for released on September 24th. This item is a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive within Japan with preorders open from April 11th to May 9th, but if history is any indicator, we may see this released through Hasbro Asian and consequently through online retailers as well. If you did not get the chance to pick up Red Alert the first time around, stay tuned to this space for the latest preorder information for MP-14+. Check the images after the break, and let us know if you will be add this masterpiece in your Autobot ranks

Q. What is a "Zombie Thread"?
A "Zombie thread" is any thread that has not had posts in some time, usually a year old or older, that has post that brings it back to the top of the forum. We usually frown upon the practice of bringing back old threads unless there is new information to be added.
Please feel free to discuss in PM, or the Toy Discussion forum.

You ever figure this one out? I'm curious as well.

Yea. Same here.
I wanted to get one myself. Hopefully this an isolated incident. Sorry that happened to you, @neko

Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Has anyone tried removing the paint on the headlights to see if they’re still molded in clear plastic?

Just received this item from The Chosen Prime. Upon inspection I notice paint scuff on the back of the leg.
It looks like the paint was not completely dry before packaging because you can see the lighter paint dried on the darker gray parts.
Has anyone else got this paint issue?
I have emailed The Chosen Prime and waiting for a reply back.

I agree that unpainted headlights and painted taillights would have been nice and he still would have matched the animation in most people's minds while keeping a fuller sense of car realism. But I have to say that in-hand, I really don't notice the headlights, and I'm very rarely looking at the backs of the cars (often why they get neglected in design and paint in general). I like him more than I thought because the colors are really, really sharp and the robot mode just smacks you as Red Alert. I do wish though they had found a way to combine what they did on MP-14 and MP-14+, as then he would be perfect. I think in today's line he would have come out more like MP-14+.

@kaszal or anyone who's looking for a deal
Kapow have this guy on sale again

It's the way Takara's been lately—toon accuracy no matter what. Headlights weren't clear in the toon, so they're not clear here. And no taillights? Matches MP Inferno.

I'm pretty sure the gun not tabbing firmly and securely in one of the hands issue is still there.

Kinda surprised you guys don't like it, for some reason I had the very low expectations for him, but after having it in hand, it's probably one of my favorite MPs. I agree the paint is a little thick and I can see why people wanted paint apps on the lights, but for me it's perfect.
Dickyscrubbs
The paint on the thighs is way too thick also. Not what I expected
Dickyscrubbs
Agreed… It just sloppy
ChromeMagnus
I don't know why they didn't retain the paint app details on the tail lights. Also I would have preferred the head lights not to be covered up with paint.
bad andy
this is kind of what I've been fearful of. Suspecting this I haven't made a purchase yet. When I got my G2 mp12 the paint on the helmet was ridiculously thick. I stripped that paint to find?… A RED HELMET. Why would they even bother painting??
Nonetheless how is the paint elsewhere? Only bothersome on face, or other spots too?
Dickyscrubbs
Blah… Not impressed… Kinda looks and feels like a cheap KO in hands…. Too much paint on the face is killing the details. If Takara is going to do this with the rest of the existing line by tooning them out, it'll be an easy pass for me. I do like the color scheme, just not the execution
