It seems as though Paramount Pictures is very confident about the success of Transformers: Age Of Extinction for they have greenlit Transformers 5 to be released in 2016.
The announcement was made during the CineEurope 2014 event after a screening of Transformers: Age Of Extinction, one day prior to the premiere.
Paramount Pictures Senior Vice President Edward Ryan dubbed the 2014 release plan as “summer’s triple pack,” confidently predicting that Transformers will be the “biggest movie” of the season.
Previously, the 5th Transformers Live Action Movie was rumored to release in 2017.

The trend this year doesn't seem to be on it's side.
As of yesterday the top US summer box office with X-Men was only setting at $210 domestically and $461 million from outside the US. Amazing Spiderman 2 had $503 million internationally but still hasn't cracked that $200 million mark domestically.
Perhaps the mega ton of advertising in China will help the box office numbers there, but the road to one billion is a harder road than ever this summer.
Better than expected numbers seem to have gone mostly to rated R comedies although 1000 Ways to Die in the West turned into a box office dud.
Even with the buzz it seems like a leaked picture of Batman and the new Bat-mobile generated more buzz than this year's films have so far.

Agreed… while AOE will likely do well its up against a lot of competition – not to mention due to the messed-up release date means its going to be in direct competition with 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes'
Then in its second or third week it will be interrupted by the release of Guardians Of The Galaxy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Expendables – arriving in early August.
While the film will do well… I'm unsure if it will earn the billions they expect. $1.5bn seems the max they can hope for however who knows the film might end up underachieving and performing around the level of ROTF. Especially considering most films have been underperforming this year.

TRANSFORMERS 5 Release Date Talk with Rob Moore

Well. I started to love Transformers since i watch Transformers Armada when i was 3 years old…. and well i knew there was going to be a 4th film.
What could be better & bad than an Autobot betraying and joining Decepticons to Conquer the Earth? That gave me the idea about what is going to have the next film.. something like traitors, killers, murderers??? or even worse something like Unicron or the Queentesons for Cybertron's destruction.. we'll i wouldn't spect to see a scaring character as Lockdown and he Dinobots.. Waooo this movie is going to be very nice and hope it beat's the fund records

Couldn't they have at least waited until they see how well AOE does? Geez.

It does seem like a load of work for the design teams. While Hasbro might not do much for Star Trek you have to figure that both Transformers 5 and GI Joe 3 will both be big toy lines. With GI Joe that means reviving a line and like you said it seems like Transformers was already going to have a full plate with a new cartoon series.

I thought that the Prime secual was scheduled for 2015.
They could make the fifth premiere December.

I know – but I thought Hasbro had a larger say? I mean surely they need to start working on concept art, get the copies sent to Hasbro who have to make the toys and merchandise for the next film. Now they have to do that for the whole of the TF5 merchandise a year earlier than they originally planned on their schedule – which means they'll probably cancel or change the animated series they planned for 2016.
Oh and 2016 puts it up against Batman Vs Superman, Captain America 3, X-Men Apocalypse, The Amazing Spider-man 3 (Or the Sinister Six), The Mummy and How To Train Your Dragon 3 – along with whatever other films are released around the month of June/July. So its the worst time for them to release TF5.

I don't think it's Hasbro with the push but Paramount. If Marvel, DC, or another really hot franchise has big films for that year Paramount might feel like their films will be over shadowed by bigger franchises. The reason we had a Transformers movie released this year was because the only real competition in action films came out early and the signs were there from the first Amazing Spiderman that the second film might struggle. Just look at the track record a Transformers film has never had to go up directly against something like The Avengers.

haha,Thanks!

Been waiting for someone to use that joke – congrats

Wow, we're just under a week away from actual release and now we have confirmation of TF5 being greenlit? Hell to the yeah!

He says he's not sure if he is, which means he's probably is. XD

TF5 is a Prime example indeed Sorry,I had to say it

You do have a lot of valid points – but if Hasbro originally planned the film for 2017 and has stuff planned for 2015 and 2016 then it's kind of awkward for Hasbro if they push the films forward.
For example the animated series for 2016 might be cancelled to avoid cross-competition with the film series. Toy lines will need to be produced quicker than originally planned, etc…
Just seems like a bad decision to push a film forward when they had other stuff planned for the years between – though I admit I am pleased that we wont have to wait three years between the films if the news is true.
Sure Hasbro don't make the films – but they had a schedule in which it was planned for release and now its going to clash with their plans. I can easily see Hasbro delaying TF5 until its originally scheduled 2017 release.
This ^
We've only got the senior vice president of paramount as the source who was just listing a bunch of films from memory. Especially given none of the films he listed have actually went into production yet, a prime example being Transformers 5 – given the fourth film according to Bay wasn't finished until very recently
JoshimusPrime20
I really thought Transformers 5 was going to be released in 2017.

Very interesting.
Seeing how they made the Dinobots so awesome, I'd sorta like to see the Movie-verse Terrorcons. The G1 Combiner team, not the Zombie-like creatures.

Yea life isn't rotten enough right now let's just take all my enjoyment out of Transformers, GI Joe, and Star Trek with movies that don't understand why I used to enjoy something before it became Hollywood films.

How or why is anyone surprised by this, let alone worried? The first three movies came out within two years of each other (07, 09 & 11), so it seems pretty obvious that this "new trilogy" would follow suit as well. Hell, even TF4 here is only technically one year behind the schedule that was already set. I would have been more surprised if they said TF5 wasn't coming out in 2016.
