Looks like the artists are officially starting to reveal their contribution to Transformers: Dark of the Moon: The Album.
American Metal band, Mastodon updated their Official Facebook Page, announcing…” Mastodon will be on the upcoming Transformers: Dark Of The Moon soundtrack, coming June 14th. They will have their cover of ZZ Top’s classic “Just Got Paid” featured, alongside cuts from Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides and more. Pre-order the album now!”
So far we have the following confirmations…
- Iridescent – Linkin Park
- All That You Are – Goo Goo Dolls
- Get Thru This – Art Of Dying
- Just Got Paid – Mastodon
…And other bands without confirmation of their songs as of yet. And they are… Staind, My Chemical Romance, Skillet, Theory of a Deadmanand and Black Veil Brides.
Keep an eye on them… there is a good chance that they’ll reveal their songs pretty soon.

OMG, they didn't put my favorite bands Scumfuck McAssrape and Tonedeaf Shitfaces in the movie, even though if they did, nobody would buy the CD! Transformers must be RUINED FOREVAR!! I can't believe they didn't include my favorite band that nobody has ever heard of and who couldn't sell out a bus station bathroom, let alone a stadium!
Seriously, folks… nobody here is thinking you're the kewl kid because you like some obscure band and/or pretend like you don't like some mainstream band.
And if you can't appreciate all forms of music, then you're really not being fair to yourself. I love thrash and speed metal just as much as the next guy, but I also heard a Celine Dion song the other day that was so beautiful it almost moved me to tears. There is a place for mainstream rock and nu-metal, and there are some songs from each of those bands that I do love. Not all, but some. I can listen to classical one minute, rap the next, pop after that, and when I'm ready to headbang, crank that shit up! I am certainly not going to come here and embarrass myself trying to look cool by turning up my nose at them and insulting people who like them like that blue guy, whatever his name was. Again, nobody is sitting at their keyboard looking at some random guy posting on a fucking Transformers forum, watching him slagging off on some random band, and saying "hey! that guy is so fucking cool! I want to be his friend!"
Buy the soundtrack if you want. If you don't, move along.

The high concept has a lot to answer for – ie shitty soundtracks like this. I miss the days when a movie's soundtrack actually had some impact on the film, instead of record sales.
I guess we have Bruckheimer/Silver to thank for that… so I won't bother complaining about the awful awful bands on show here.

I can see how you might believe that, and in the case of some metalheads it might be true, but in my case and the case of a lot of my friends, it's just that Christian bands seem, to me, to usually be rather hollow and not musically adventurous. They stick to what sells musically, and just "holies up" the lyrical content, in other words.
I mean, as I said, I like Vengeance Rising (and another Christian thrash metal band, Mortification, from Australia) because they are musically still original and hardcore, regardless of what they sing about. So I'm not just hating on Christian music in it's entirety.
And this is somebody who will listen to anything to a degree, from progressive rock to hip-hop to hardstyle trance to the most blasphemous black metal.

I'm wondering why there's nothing from The Used on it… We had The Used on the soundtracks for the last two, why not this one? Any ideas?

It's needs some Billy Idol. Eye's Without YOUR Face.

Looks like I'll be turning the sound down or putting my fingers in my ears if the MCR track gets played in the movie.
A more vacuos waste of space I can't think of

Ok I see where people are coming from about sklllet. I have never heard them and I do like the song for it's lyrics. And it seems to me anyway that this song is about the relationship between sentinel and optimus. Sentinel obviously is going to wake up and maybe he gives optimus a reason to help the humans even after they lied to him.

Maybe you're getting called out because you dont say "well personally i dont like this band/ song/ whatever" Instead you're trashing bands that lot of people enjoy i'm sure if you said "well i really dont like alot of these bands" you wouldnt catch nearly as much hell, though i respectfully 1000000% disagree completely with your taste in music… personally of course

No offense dude but your trying to whiz up a rope with a lot of the Skillet haters. In my experience those that hate a Christian band on really hate them for the fact that they are Christian. Strip away that label and on any ordinary day they wouldn't take issue with them one iota. From what I've seen, that group of individuals seems to think somewhere in their twisted sense of thought if they listen to it long enough they will turn into a Bible thumper.
Take it how you will, just my two cents on the matter. I primarily listen to Christian music but will listen to secular depending on the content. I also do not limit myself to any particular style instead going from Gregorian chants to metal. On that note I leave this…

For those who are interested:
Saw this video on YouTube of PARAMORE. I guess they were jamming to MONSTER- which is on the DOTM soundtrack.

w00 Skillet!!!!!!
well said! Skillet is one of my favorite bands but if they dont catch everybody's fancy well thats perfectly fine. people like what they like
the only time i start having problems is when people hate on it just cuz they're a "christian band"
when people become christians is there this magical thing that happens that they all the sudden are unable to write and perform great music?
i dont think so
if you dont like 'em thats fine.
but they're song is still on the CD at the end of the day

I have the feeling that since the title is reversed (Alive & Awake – the Official Album Site is now up, & shows it like that, as well as everything else I've ran across), that it's a completely new Remix, special for DotM. & with Skillet, that Remix can be absolutely ANYTHING.
Hoodihooo
Hopefully they use this vers. of Awake and Alive

But hey, the remix has more subtle emotional context anyway.

Paramore and Linkin Park are average, the rest sucks. Big question, why the hell isn't Stan Bush on that list? The 1986 movie had the best soundtrack and you all know it, music was better back then and I wasn't even born at that point.

I have a Five Iron Frenzy cover of a Vengeance Rising song. Not a long one though: Receive Him.
*edit* Confirming links worked while posting about/ linking to this post, I learned that some of the titles for songs on DotM have been slightly changed. ex.: Alive & Awake (Remix) to Awake & Alive (Rock Radio Mix). Also, a 5th song was added to the player.
Just updating for accuracy.

And as a metalhead for 15 years, with a collection of thousands of bands, let me just say that I've only ever heard ONE good Christian rock/metal band: Vengeance Rising, which is oldschool thrash metal and (sadly) probably won't appeal to the majority of Christian music fans lol
