Back in January, 3A revealed their first non-movie Transformers figure with a stylized version of Generation 1 Optimus Prime. This isn’t a straight up G1 design based on the cartoon, comic or even recent Masterpiece releases, but rather one inspired by the art of Ashley Wood, co-founder of 3A. As such, it has a unique set of lines, cuts, and curves that won’t be found in other figures. Prime stands 16 inches tall, has 59 points of articulation, uses die-cast and features a super detailed paint job.
3A G1 Optimus Prime is due out in the 3rd quarter of 2017, but we’ve been graced with an early copy to run through the motions. Head on over to the full gallery here: TFW2005’s 3A Prime Gallery. You can also check some key shots and a review by WTF@TFW Podcast Captain Vangelus after the break!
Pre-Orders are now open on the official Bambaland store along with some of our sponsors – Big Bad Toy Store, TFSource, Robot Kingdom, Captured Prey, Hobby Link Japan, The Chosen Prime, ToyDojo, Ages Three & Up, Premium Collectables

In the bottom pic the center Prime is Ulitmetal and the other two are 3a.

Is that prime from the right 3a?

Sorry to necro this thread but for 3A Optimus Prime Classic, is it normal that the legs cannot hold up high (flopping down)?
Bob 121
Probably not. The fact that they aren't allowed to make Transformable figures secures the lack of competition.
This line has been dead for a while anyway.
Balzari
Not feeling it.
I wonder if 3A have only been allowed to make G1 figures in this highly stylized way so that it does not impact on the Masterpiece line?

Very sorry to hear that. I love the G1 Prime, as well as the recolors. I do look forward to whatever is next, though, which hopefully is TLK Megatron!

Thanks @decemberist for the input.
Sorry to hear OP didn't sell well. I'd be very keen to pick one up if I knew Megatron was just around the corner, but sadly it doesn't sound like it.
What is a kickstarter sale? I've never heard that term…
Jdk504
Sounds like MP G1 toys as well. Was hoping to see Megs. These guys look awesome. I'm wondering if Alt-Metals will do a Megatron. I'm guessing they did the latest battle damage Prime to generate some revenue for that venture, ya?
decemberist
G1 line is on hold currently. Focus is on the film line
If/when G1 Megs happens, it'll most likely be a kickstarter style sale since the G1 Prime didn't do as well as we'd wanted
Aussiebot
@decemberist if you're still around, what's happening with the G1 Megatron?
Destructimis Prime
Oh I’m hoping they release a Bumblebee based on that art print. That’s an instant buy. Prime I didn’t care for, but that Bee I would also be interested in Ashley’s interpretation of Jazz, whatever that would look like I’m sure it would be stunning.
Retroheavy
Probably something like this if it ever gets made. And he is supposed to come with a spike figure. We haven't heard anything on this for a while. We are creeping up on 2 years since we saw Megatrons prototype… I'm guessing the line is dead or they lost the G1 License.

They're doing a G1 Bumblebee, too? Oh, man, I'm really curious about that! Wonder how much it'll look like the MP? Ashley Wood definitely based his Optimus on MP-10.
Sam
That's awesome. Yeah I dig the look, and I'm curious to see what their Bumblebee looks like, but I probably wouldn't pick any of them up because they don't do that thing Transformers should do!

Yeah, man! It's nuts – a patron of my work surprised me with it for Christmas! Completely crazy. Sooo incredibly generous. Which is why I feel terrible admitting I never mess with it! It looks great for what it is, but you know me – I'm really only interested in MPs! This thing is absolutely humongous, which makes it impressive but not as fun to pose as an MP. Plus, of course, it doesn't transform! In my dumb brain if it doesn't transform it ain't a Transformer
I do need to get around to taking shots of this guy, but even that's not as easy due to his size. Obviously what I really want is Prime v3 on my desk asap
