Mr. Alan Purvin has worked on all four Transformers Live Action Movies as well as countless other famous franchises such as the Jurassic Park series and Pirates Of The Caribbean. He is the Eye In The Sky. All the cool aerial shots from the opening scene of the first Transformers movie to Galvatron’s final vow at the end of Age Of Extinction were all done by him.
It is with great sadness that we announce that he is with us no more. Mr. Purvin passed away in a tragic plane crash while filming the latest Tom Cruise movie Mena. He passed away while doing what he loved to do the most. But that doesn’t make the situation any less sadder for the people who knew and loved him.
Mr. Michael Bay; the director of the Transformers Live Action Movies has produced a heartfelt tribute video to remember the artist who was with him on many of his movies. Check it out, after the jump.

He has a heck of a resume, as seen on IMDb. All 4 Transformers films, POTC, FF, Batman vs Superman, TMNT 1 and 2, Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad…
We will see his work in the future, thankfully, though not on a TF film.

The memorial video was amazing.

Rest in peace, Mr. Alan Purwan. This is a great loss for Transformers, movies in general, and those who knew him. This was a wonderful tribute to him.

Those aerial shots were quite dynamic. He was good at his work but at least he died doing what he loved.

This is terrible news.
RIP to Alan and Carlos Berl (who was also in the crash) and I wish a speedy recovery for Jimmy Lee Garland, who was also involved.
Edit
His first job was as a helicopter pilot on the Airwolf pilot! I wonder if he was a camera pilot or Airwolf pilot?

Absolutely heartbreaking news. It's a real shame that I didn't even know who he was until now.

So sad to lose his vision! May he R.I.P. and his family quickly get over this loss.

Great tribute and an absolute shame. The guy did his job like a boss. RIP.

What an incredible resume of films he worked on. He worked on a lot of my favourite movies and I didn't even know it. An unsung hero of Hollywood by a long shot.

A shame, he did a good job an I'm sure he was a decent man.
Prayers for him and his family.

I knew Mr. Purwin's name sounded familiar when the helicopter crash happened and the tribute was stunningly done. I wish my condolences to the family of those who where lost in the crash.

Sad news. For all the flack that the Bay movies get, they are pretty to look at and a big part of that is the cinematography.

May his soul rest in peace. He was a truly great cinematographer and captured sheer magic in his camera.

I read an article about this accident. Holy shit this guy had one hell of a resume. Thats sad.
That video though..HOLY SHIT. Really get an appreciation for what it takes to get certain shots, that may only last a few seconds, but what it takes to get that shot is really impressive. Seeing the True Lies, and Great wall spots in that video shows how long this guy has been doing this. just WOW.
Splendic
One of the guys that helped make movies a little more magical for all of us.
Your work was greatly appreciated, Mr. Purwin.
