2005 Boards member Darkprime has captured the preview for next week’s episode of Transformers Prime, Grill. Looks like Agent Fowler has some explaining to do – by way of a clip show!
Clip shows ALWAYS have new footage. The point of them is to pad the episode with a bunch of clips. The new footage sets the scene for the episode. In this instance – it's Fowler having to report to his boss for the incident with Nemesis/Optimus. We will see probably no more then 20% 'new' footage and the rest will be flashbacks, and most of the new footage will be of Fowler.
What people are also not understanding that this is also a perfect time to do a general recap of what's been going on in Prime so far. Audiences who have been watching on TV, but don't have the DVD's or YouTube may have forgotten earlier episodes or plot points that can be easily bought back to the front of their minds by episodes like this. I have no issue with a clip show occuring – it's just when they become a regular feature that is becomes irritating.
Well said.
Even if there's only 20 seconds of new footage, Miko could still die or "move back to Japan" when her old sister gets introduced for the 1st time.
There might be a point to this episode. Unless it ends with Fowler winning the conversation and nothing of importance happening to the Autobots. Then it was just a recap episode.
I think we all need to give our knees a break here. All of these jerk reactions can't be good for it.
Anywho, seeing as this is a preview, I'll give my thoughts.
1.) It's obvious that we'll get some new footage. At a minimum, it'll be Fowler's running commentary/scenes.
2.) Hopefully the flashbacks will include footage of the Autobots arriving, or shedding some light on the Autobot/government team-up.
3.) I wouldn't have minded them using the Miko "NEVER!"-clip, if that clip had been used in a serious context in the first place. It's not a great shot to begin with, and the fact that we remember that she's basically a small chihuahua mindlessly barking at a bear in that scene…just doesn't lend the right mood to the clips.
So, in conclusion, why don't we all just take a breath and, I don't know, wait until the episode airs?
ah, there you go, i guess i could see that. If they did do a Cliffjumper/ Arcee flashback, i'd want it to be based on the Prime prequel comics, cuz i think they conveyed it fairly well. they even referenced moments in the series that i only recognized in retrospect, namely Cliff rescuing arcee from airachnid.
If this is a clip show, then i have a challenge for prime. Since it has been able to make every episode matter in some way, I would like to come away from watching this next week feeling no different than I have for the mediocre or worst Prime episodes so far. If they make it a clip show but somehow make me feel like it wasn't just a copout; like instead of just budget reasons it's meant to help the audience connect the dots and notice things they hadn't. Then Prime will truly be the greatest TF show, because they will have taken an infamous concept from previous series and used it in a way that saves them money and time yet still matters just as much as a brand new episode
I think 11+ episodes in a row more than makes up for it. Give the animators a break here!
totally agree. it is better than having 2-3 weeks w/o and episode. ironic that the next episode is named "armada"…the unicron trilogy was big on clip shows…lol
Yeah, it's looking like it'll be a clip show, but hopefully there'll be some interesting character exploration for Fowler at least. He was pretty darn cool in the previous episode.
Maybe it will have flashbacks of stuff we haven't seen yet. Like the Autobots arriving on earth.
See, this is what I thought it might be about before we were more sure it was going to be a clip show. Their arrival on Earth and more specifically, how they met Fowler and allied themselves with the government. It feels overdue.
I hope there is at least some new footage to this.
