Straight out of Toy Fair 2023 comes news from McFarlane Toys! Coming next year to a toy shelf near you are Transformers Page Punchers!
The Page Punchers are a line of 3 or 7 inch figures included with a comic book. Currently, McFarlane Toys creates Page Punchers for DC Comics. Coming in 2023 are Page Punchers for Stranger Things (Dark Horse Comics) and Scorched (Image Comics). Both Transformers and G.I. Joe will be joining that lineup for 2024 in the 3 inch category.
No images were allowed.
What was shown were two different packs for Transformers. Optimus Prime and Wheeljack packaged with an IDW Publishing Transformers comic, or Megatron and Bumblebee packaged with an IDW Publishing Transformers comic. There was nothing currently displayed from the Energon Universe from the upcoming Skybound comics, nor was there clarification if the IDW Publishing Transformers comic was simply a placeholder for what would be a Skybound comic.
Stay tuned for more news in the future on Transformers Page Punchers!

Sucks to hear it’s not 7inch (could change of course) because I might, might have been tempted by a Wheeljack (if it was actually IDW).
Yeah randomly I watched Pixel Dan’s tour and yeah we get a brief glimpse of two comics.

Ok, I can get behind this! I have a hard time justifying buy figures at this point in my life (space is an issue), but if they come with comics I am all for it!

I'm just hoping that with enough time, Todd can convince them to let him do a 7' line. In the mean time, I'm not setting my expectations high, given it's the 3' line.
Maybe a trade? He lets them touch his baby spawn and he gets access to transformers?
Nah.

Right now it is IDW, there was one booth tour where you could see a comic cover. I'm sure they will switch to some reprints of the new comics once they are available. They also just seem to use notable issues where its appropriate for a character.

Looks like TNI is confirming that these will be 3", and that McFarlane is doing GI Joe ones as well:

Be intersting how they will look maybe legends or deluxe class if they transform

I'm pretty sure these are just the minis. Todd is still in the comic game and made a fun little line to get comics into more hands.
This could be a good way to advertise new comics (from his pal Kirkman) to more people. I think it's a good idea, but no more than that
Ganon2099
I wonder how many reprints he will do. The new comics won't have a lot of material to pull from. Will be interesting to see the covers too. Will it be the normal issues or special covers?
Rob
Diversify your assets. Pretty good long term strategy.

Because the figures are "punched" out of the page, I'd assume.
Todd has gone on record that this type of product is geared more towards the consumer who's buying for somebody else, whether it's a parent for their kid or as a gift.
They're not necessarily FOR collectors, they're a low price option. Todd these days seems to be very much about putting out product for as many demographics as possible.

And that's what I would want to see. I don't really want them to replicate an existing design (beyond maybe Miline's designs). I want to see, what crazy cool designs they can come up with. Kind of like MDLX, but cheaper.
That's what I love about McFarlane Toys and now Yolopark. You get so much for what you pay, compared to the competition.

I think the 7 inch figures are unlikely but what do I know?
I'm pretty sure these are just 3 inch miniatures with 3 points of articulation.
That said, McFarlane's robot figures are a highlight of DC Multiverse.
You absolutely don't want his sculptors touching Animated, IDW, Prime, or probably even Sunbow designs though. They're catastrophically bad at cartoon-y designs that have to be in a specific art style.
They'd probably make pretty cool Bayverse figures or original designs though. I think they could even get away with ThreeZero style "artistic interpretation of G1". You just don't want to trust them to replicate an art style.

Why are they called Page Punchers? Thanks in advance.

If McFarlane can make 7 inch action figures based in IDW designs they have my purchase.
I didn’t like RED because it was always half baked and I knew from the beginning Hasbro was only going to do 4-5 waves of 2 figures. I don’t like the Super 7 large figures because they just look like blown up GI Joes from the 80’s.

But an actual line of well articulated and amazingly sculpted 7 inch action figures based on IDW designs that include a comic? I will absolute buy all of those.
So, uh, heres hoping they do the 7 inch ones.

Oh, so now Hasbro are extending their license to McFarlane. Not a fan of the idea, but if this somehow ends in a mutual exchange where Hasbro gets to do something DC related (DC Legends anyone?), I\'m ok with it. This is pure speculation and wishful thinking on my part, so please, nobody come it being a know-it-all and comment sounding like you\'re trying to insult mine or anyone else\'s intelligence.

All depends on how they look. Todd's DC figures( all of them) have been hit or miss to me. All I ever see at my local Walmarts and Targets are 29 gazillion different Batmans and Supermans.
How many different versions of the same characters do you need? (Looking at all my optimus primes and megatrons and grimlocks and bumblebees and……………………..)
ToaDraco
Oooh, an IDW Wheeljack figure you say? Yes please! Even if it ends up being a little wonky like the other Page Punchers, I am definitely looking forward to seeing how he turns out!

It’s a good thing that my goal in life is to purchase as little as possible from Todd McFarlane.

EH, that's why I said shattered glass. It's basically the transformers version of jokerized. You also get a lot more repaints out of that.
You can do the original botcon version
the animated version
and uh, whatever you feel like doing, and then waiving it off as "shattered glass."
