Anyway, "how do we get the best modern non-transforming figures" is the wrong takeaway from the action masters line. The question we should be asking ourselves is, "When does Wheeljack get an update to his sweet Turbo Racer, and where is Jazz's skateboard?!"

I *NEED* Prowl's Turbo Cycle, scaled to a deluxe Prowl figure. But I want it released in mainline aesthetic, not as a Super7 thing.

For me a lot of the appeal of action masters is how similar they are to traditional <4" figures from other franchises, and that history is usually represented with modern throwback figures with only five points of articulation like ReAction or Hasbro's retro brands. You could certainly do action masters as a more poseable figure design like The Vintage Collection or Hiya Toys, though I think it's debatable if they'd be comparably good in core class. And for my part, I'd rather have them at scale nearer to all my other figures rather than being alongside transforming but blockier core class toys. But as I said earlier, to each his own.

This gets close to my own opinion. As I've said elsewhere, Action Masters, to me, means something far more specific than simply "non-transforming Transformers." If they didn't get close to the <4" scale, an update would hold no appeal to me whatsoever.

I'm not opposed to better articulation, but I also note that other figures of this size currently on the market (let's ignore the overpriced ReAction figures) are already at about the same price point as Core class figures. I'm more impressed that Core class figures even have transformations when I look at that comparison!

It does seem to me, unfortunately, that we're probably talking about doing away with the transforming partners, even in our theoretical Action Master non-transforming figure updates (a couple of recent comments notwithstanding). That's a pity, because the play pattern with transforming accessories and playsets is the other main thing that makes Action Masters appealing, to me.

I purchased Ultimates Bludgeon. It looks great and the accessories are neat. I can live with the articulation. My helmets even fit on the heads okay. But the figure's limbs are SO floppy and loose. It makes it difficult to pose or accessorize the figure as he flops around like a ragdoll. Such poor quality control and very frustrating. Does anyone else have this issue with their Bludgeon?
