Transformers Retro G1 Thundercracker Found At US Retail

He hit retail…just saw him a couple times the past several days in Michigan and Kentucky. He hasn’t been nearly as common as Starscream around me, though.

Edit: curious about what the inevitable Skywarp will look like. I have the Starscream reissue from a few years ago and an old vintage Thundercracker (prefer his vintage toy colors)…hopefully “toon” Skywarp is relatively close to his original toy.

The only seeker I am picking up from this line is Thurdercracker, because he is so different from the original. Skywarp, will be like Starscream, with a few changes, but pretty close to the original.

The biggest change we'll likely see is that the decals will be removed and replaced with paint. They could change the rudders and arm cannons to purple, but not sure if they will do that.

I don't think he would be (I wouldn't be surprised if we just got yet another reissue separately for him and TC using the collection fists and gun at some point).
I don't think his black and purple would differ much as much but I would guess he'd have the grey instead of silver like this Thundercracker as well as the paint apps. The big change I suspect (and frankly hope for) is that they do the missiles and guns are done in purple. If the Hasbro safety missiles are a separate tooling then this'll probably be achieved easily with little to no paint (it'll also look closer like Skywarp's original stock photography which for some reason is probably what the animators were basing things off of.) I suspect his shoulders on the other hand'll stay the same as doing those in purple would taint the alt mode (the Robot masters toys from back in the day did this)

A gray chest instead of silver and purple guns and missiles would suit me fine, I think. I’m not too picky. That bright blue Thundercracker does kinda bug me, though.

So am I. I would imagine flat black is flat black, and the silver torso would be painted light grey. For some reason, I’m actually playing around with these, as opposed to the rest of my mostly G1 collection that sits in boxes on my shelves.

That’s pretty much what I was thinking. At worst, maybe they make him a dark charcoal gray or something. The toon and toy are pretty close.

Edit: And I haven’t touched my G1 Cracker in a while…hopefully that plastic isn’t giving up the ghost…some of my old vintage stuff is really showing its age. That being said, I probably ought to consider just getting these new ones…colors be damned…

I saw one in a Walmart clearance isle about 10 days ago. The box was beat up and it was marked down to 24 I believe.

I wonder if peeps do this deliberately to purchase said item at clearance price.

Ooh! I'm not a huge Reissue collector, but the colors are spicy on this one!

The blue on Thundercracker is gorgeous. It looks just like the original Cobra Commander blue.

You know Skywarp is on the way. Although, I’m curious as to who will be the next Autobot. They should do Kup, we’ve never had a US reissue and he’d be perfect for the line.
