Thanks to 2005 Boards member Reflector Prime for sharing in our boards photographic proof of his sighting of the Transformers Retro The Transformers: The Movie Starcream at US retail.
This Walmart exclusive re-issue of the classic G1 Starscream mold features a new movie-accurate deco and it comes packaged in a retro-style closed box. It was found at a Walmart in Lake Zurich, Illinois. As we can see from the images, Starscream comes in a solid case.
Retro Starscream is also available for pre-order via Walmart website and it’s expected for release in January 13th, 2023, but you may try to check your Walmart stores to try to grab him sooner.

Exactly. Why Pipes was singled out as the one without a reissue in 2018 is odd to me.
(Same goes with the other Minibots, unless Hasbro is saving those for the 40th Anniversary).
Generation Zero
Absolutely. I appreciate we all have different opinions but it's not fair simply dismissing other fans "exceptionally picky" because they dare criticise the quality of finish on the product they purchased. They are entitled to an opinion without personally being judged entirely on that single opinion and vice versa for that matter.
Generation Zero
"So in other words, two people predispositioned to being exceptionally picky." Not the impression I get from them, certainly not the second who I have followed a long time and I have never seen so critical.
RKillian
Yeah, trying to handwave that away is ridiculous. As soon as I heard how much paint there was likely to be, I feared this sort of stuff would happen.

While I really like the idea of doing animation colored g1 stuff, I really hope the reissues aren’t limited to just the typical 84/85/86 guys. Some of the target masters, headmasters, and powermasters deserve a reissue
Predakwon
We eventually got Pipes reissues in 2008 though through the Encore box set

So in other words, two people predispositioned to being exceptionally picky.
That first sample looks like it might have gotten a bit too much paint, as the details are really gloopy looking.
But the second one is what practically any factory paint job looks like blown up 10x.
Generation Zero
These are from a review and complaint raised by two seasoned collectors. However, you cut it they are poorly done.

Of course, take note that the flaws are highly amplified since those pictures are 10x the size of his actual face. That's a pretty standard range for overspray on factory paint-apps.
Generation Zero
No there are some bad examples out there. Luck of the draw unfortunately.

Sorry yours has so many issues! Mine is not perfect, but much better than that.

I'm going to take a bold guess that the fourth reissue is Blitzwing.
Blitzwing, like Hound, is one of the toys reissued by Takara but not Hasbro during the 2000s.
Then again, there have been plenty of surprises (like reissuing Gears and Warpath, but not Huffer and Powerglide). Reissuing all of the new 1986 Minibots *except* Pipes was a surprise.
The 2004 Takara reissues for Minibots included Huffer, Cosmos, and Powerglide that were omitted from the Vintage G1 collection, and the 1986 reissue multipack included Pipes.

Sorry to see that. It totally sucks. The poor face paint seems to be a major problem based on what I have seen on Twitter and YouTube. Hasbro should hang their heads in shame for releasing them like this. I really wanted to grab one of these but won't now. I hope they do better with Hound.

Oh great, they can recycle the existing Dreamwave MTMTE profile art then.

I'd bet real money that he'll be a big beefy robot squatting and reaching.
fschuler
Oh I know. My hope was that the possibility of selling multiple variations (toy and toon) might make it worth their while to resurrect them. I realize my wording above didn’t make that clear. They could even do G2 colors!

They did for the Beast Wars reissues.

unfortunately, it’s been well established the original molds for the Dinobots have been destroyed for quite some time. Their only choice would be to remake the molds by scanning an existing set of Dinobots, and I’m not sure Hastak is willing to put that much effort into it.
