Courtesy of Hasbro designer Mark “Markclonus” Maher on his Instagram account we can share for you images and concept art of the Transformers Legacy Energon Weapons Combinations.
Read on for Mark’s comments on the development of these Energon weapons for the Legacy toyline:
Energon consumption time!!! I really hope everyone is enjoying the portal ride of our Legacy toyline. Here is a lil insight on how some of these energon weapons came to be.
First image is just a showcase of the first 2 waves of Legacy weaponry you’ll collect if you grab core class, deluxe class, voyager class, and even leader class!
Then you will actually see the concept art Emiliano Santalucia drew up even before we had the rollout of characters planned for the year. I think this will provide great insight for all yall as alot of the planning for weapon combinations was to obviously utilize our 5mm peg across all scales but this was all sold in before character selects were figured out.
As I worked with Takara on some of the characters I ended up redesigning alot of the weapons in order to maintain their design aesthetic of their own iconic weaponry. I wanted to concentrate heavily on the character and let that guidance provide an opportunity for the style and color of the energon weaponry
Please be sure to share your rad energon weapon combinations, would love to get some more time to talk about some of the new energon featured in some of characters arsenals. Especially that smoked out death soul energon featured in Jhiaxus’s handheld blaster ☠️!
More soon, stay tuned, if we reach higher followers maybe I can start doing giveaways!!!!
See all the mirrored images after the break and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I love adding weapons to my weapons until they look like rush hour traffic

Yes I realise that, I am just saying that terms of practical design they are a better implementation of the concept as currently seen in legacy as well as also being intercompatible with it Red Cog's "show themed" bonus parts are at least able to form convincing Weapons – the Legacy line even failed to make a convincing sword out of Core class pieces. & most of the parts remind me of stray pieces from Connectbots toys – which incidentally are also somewhat intercompatible with them too due the use of clear plastics and 5mm ports.

The weapons are based on the godawful show

I just realised one of the best things for this entire premise is not being mentioned as part of the play pattern much which is Red Cog. He come with a hold packet of mix an match 5mm compatible weapon pieces after all. Some of which even seem to be colored to imply Energon.

The only problem with that is the bow looks terrible with the *ahem*…er, less aesthetically pleasing 5mm pegged underside, and if one poses Rodders the other way to show the combo-weapon's good side one will see his less ungainly rear.
More and more Legacy reminds me of POTP, where there's a lot of ambition & creativity slamming hard against the glass ceiling of budget limitation.

The 3 kinds of disassembly figures in the War for Cybertron Trilogy (and after) tend to make better weapons combinations over all – heck a significant portion of Cog or Sixgun's Body IS weapons.
The old Energon weapons from the 2000's also could be mixed and match to a degree too. & they will likely work to some extent with the Legacy ones. – I think the most fun here is to be had by those who maintained a long standing collection and can draw on a variety of things even Arms Microns too.
There is nothing jumping up and biting me yet some of it can be seen as a detriment to the toy (i.e. Blitzwing with Rocket Boxes isn't an bad idea it's just giant red one not so much) – lets hope the Energon Monsters add significantly to the play pattern.
I agree the 3rd party combiners and even the 3D printed after market weapons seem to do a better job overall of making a weapon that is made of other weapons and have it look convincing – even the old TFC / Junkion Blacksmith ones worked to some extent and would work decently enough with these too.

Naw, the monster is 2 unique figures (core and deluxe). But the instructions are 100% free to show combinations with the "other weapons sold separately" disclaimer
Fuze9
And there's our Energon Monster

a pile of sloppy mess. it\'s a gimmick. just not for me

I think you misunderstood me individually. I actually don't care. If anything, I'm mimicking or satirizing the droves of price-nuts.
My frustration is the engineering adaptations required to MEET those market-dependent price points. (Example – I will pay more for 3rd Party where those ceilings aren't present.)
I know HasTak has to meet specific ROI/cost/price thresholds to bring an item to market. I'm just disappointed that the market is so inflexible so as to necessitate those hard-capped ceilings which then require cost cutting methods in production and engineering.

Like the Fossilizers, I think they're neat and fun for creating wacky weapons. View attachment 29542075 View attachment 29542072 View attachment 29542073

"Can we get swords for our Dinobots?"
"Hulk fists is the best we can do!"

His sword and fin can combine into a passable bow like Animated Hot Rod
From this post: Kingdom core hot rod

XD ikr. I just mainly keep the Energon weapons for sake of completion. But out of all of them, Kickback and Blitzwing’s are the most interesting ones
octobotimus
Can’t wait to see piles of these on eBay later on.
Chadderbug
Animated Rodimus using the spoiler as a bow weapon's a start so that's something
Rojixus
I see I'm not the only one who thought that.

In the second image, what gun or gun combination is in the bottom left corner. Left of the early concept that evolved into bulkheads accessory
Rakzo
What intrigues me the most about that concept art is that there are weapons that haven't appeared yet so they're probably part of Wave 3.
DubV
Laser Prime. He also stole the Bansho fan from Goku, presumably to put out some flaming mountain that Alpha Trion is trapped on.
