Newage Toys have posted up, via their Weibo account, images of the color prototype of their H2D Manero (Legends Scale Golden Lagoon Jazz).
This is gold redeco of Newage H2 Manero/G1 Jazz inspired by the classic G1 episode “The Golden Lagoon”. The figure retains the gun and speakers of the original release. A nice alternative for your Legends scale G1 display.
See the images of this new variant after the jump and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

You’re not the first person to ask that question in this thread. And neither was I, I’m pretty sure. But I think the answer is still probably no to both of us, sadly.

Anyone have a Capoeira they are planning on getting rid of?

That’s a common issue with Vizla. I think there must a a moulding defect (maybe a sprue mark or something) within the neck ball joint that adds some unnecessary friction. Given the soft, brittle plastic, the neck snaps off because it can’t turn cleanly. Of the four copies I’ve handled, two had the issue and two didn’t.
It’s not a problem with the clear Jazz so I assume the problem lies with the Shockwave head piece.
But yeah, definitely wouldn’t recommend the clear Porsches to anyone except hardcore completists.

Unfortunately yes, my transparent Visla's neck snapped basically right out of the box, when I went to turn his head (not even roughly, just with normal force). Luckily I had only bought him to get a transparent cannon and fist piece for the opaque version, but it was still a bummer. Put me off buying transparent NewAge figures, even though from what I understand the plastic durability improved on them later on.

Looking for Capoeira (Ricochet/Stepper)… If you've got one for sale please send me a PM. Thanks.

The transparent Porsches (Jazz and Shockwave) were made of super brittle clear plastic. I’ve also heard reports of cracking on other early figures (cosmos and V1 van bros.), although my own copies of those figures are still fine.
All clear Newage figures after the V1 vans appear to be made of a denser mix; I’ve heard no reports of damage on anything since, and the figures certainly feel sturdier in-hand.

I recently discovered, much to my dismay, that my H2PT transparent Vizla is going through plastic fatigue. One shoulder joint and hip joint both came apart. Is anyone else seeing something similar with their H2PT or any other Newage transparent figures?

The early stuff is all over the place but eventually they established a relatively predictable pattern after the seekers (13-15).
The seekers (13-15) are all over the place. The main three original cartoon decos were in Diaclone boxes. Only Starscream got a toy deco and he's in a US G1 box. All three got a "super toon" deco that went in JP G1 boxes. Most of the recolors, I believe, used US G1 boxes with the three main drawings recolored. "G2" (AM) Thundercracker had a custom box. I'm not sure what the coneheads did except G2 Ramjet has a US G2 box.
The minibots, their box design I can't quite place. They look sort of like late Japanese G1 boxes.
eHobby leans toward US G1 boxes but not always. It's hard to find pictures. Hauler, Sunstorm, and Detritus look like US G1. The art for Delta Magnus looks familiar but not the box.
If it's a "reference release" like Jurassic Park Hound or Cobra Powerglide, they get custom boxes (JP NES title screen and ARAH cardback respectively).
Galvatron's box selections are as crazy as he is.

At some point with Jazz they did a reissue and changed the box.
FieryReign
Ok, thanks. I didn't know if it was because of reissues, or they just got a new box designer? I seen 2 different boxes for this particular figure and just wonder why the change? A diaclone looking cheap box and then a G1 toy looking grid-box.
bignick1693
There is no consistency in NA boxes.
FieryReign
Really late getting this guy but found a cheap seller on ebay. I tinkered with a few logos and think the toyhax sloppy toon sticker work best. I usually "stick" with official Ocean brand rub-ons but these stickers pretty much hide that red stripe nicely. Also, can someone tell me what the difference is for Newage boxes and artwork, like the examples in the pic? I don't really have a preference, I just wish they were uniform.View attachment 30134515
