New listings in AmiAmi website have surfaced, revealing the upcoming Japanese Siege releases for February 2020, and we have some great new stock images and reveals.

That makes sense! I like takara better as they go for the toon look over hasbros toy look! so now they stopped it sucks but works for hasbro! To bad hasbro didn’t learn to give us more toon looking toys! Witch siege comes close!
Nevermore
Takara stopped releasing mainline toys that are different from Hasbro's two years ago. Caused a lot of hissing and cursing when they originally announced it for Power of the Primes. Their Studio Series and Siege figures are also virtually identical to Hasbro's versions, except for slightly different packaging and instructions.

Yes, I know a lot of online retailers are claiming his name is "Shinji", but that doesn't automatically make it correct. After all, several online retailers also claimed that Galaxy Force Blurr was named "Bra", Binaltech Wheeljack was named "Hoiljack", Movie Arcee was named "Earthy", Animated Arcee was named "Archi" (both are spelled アーシー in katakana), and Adventure Sawtooth was named "Soutosu".
See, the thing is, シンジ ("shinji") is pretty much the only possible way to render the name "Singe" in katakana. The Japanese phonetical system doesn't know the sound combination "si", so you'd invariably end up with シ ("shi"). In the same fashion, Ultra Magnus's position as "City Commander" gets rendered as シティーコマンダー, which is pronunced "shitty commander". Furthermore, a soft "g" is invariably represented by a "j" syllable, and since most syllables in Japanese end with a vowel, a word ending with a soft "g" will have that represented by a ジ ("ji"). Thus, there is simply no other way to render the name "Singe" in the Japanese phonetical system.
So in a way, you're right – シンジ is pronounced "shinji", but it's meant to represent the English name "Singe", which contains several sounds and sound combinations that are a little… challenging for a native Japanese speaker. Which is where my "Convoy" analogy comes into play: コンボイ is literally "Konboi" (or "Komboi"), but pretty much everyone agrees that it's meant to represent the english word "convoy".
To further prove my point: G1 Spinister was never released in Japan. Here's a Japanese translation of the 1988 Decepticon Targetmasters' tech specs:
デストロンターゲットマスター2
Singe's name gets rendered シンジ.
Or take this: Two Japanese sites depicting Fun Publications' Spinister.

See how they identify Singe:

Does Crosshairs look…vibrant and zazzy to anyone else? I dunno if maybe it's the lighting or the photography or something, but his color scheme seems way brighter and more vibrant than the American one does. I like it, it's almost a more toon look for him.
Also, where's a good place to buy those Micromasters? I haven't seen those for preorder anywhere yet and I've decided it's my mission to own every Siege Micromaster.

Oh ok as I know I liked their stuff over hasbro for like Blurr as they go more toon! So I was like man if they do siege I was going to be mad lol

I suspect it’s foreshadowing for the next chapter. Like how we got TR Buzzsaw via the tail end of CW.
In Siege? Not really. If anything, the "Takara doing different stuff from Hasbro" thing is reserved for the Generations Selects line.
Xhairs
So are they doing anything dif then hasbro like they did with returns of the titans line? As they look the same! Thanks for the info!

Sideswipe's white is also that garbage off white/creamy white they love to use. I bought an extra Red Alert to swap his white parts over to him.
Hasbro seems to hate pure white plastic.

No, he mustn’t run away… he mustn't run away…

His name is not "Shinji". No more than Optimus Prime being named "Konboi" in Japan.

I hope Shinji's not jumping through window trying to reach a supposed "mirror world"

The plastic used for Apeface’s white — I’m fine with it.
The look of each of the three modes — I like them all, especially bot mode.
The battle-dirt — ruins it, just like every Siege voyager so far.
It’s a shame. I love the voyager character’s, but they’ve been uglied up too much. When I was a kid battle damage was something I’d imagine. Easier and more playable to imagine a dirty clean bot, than imagine a clean dirty bot.

February 2020 in Japan.

I was hoping apeface was a worthy purchase as I find G1 version a favourite toy. This version with that pearly cheap looking plastic and hollow parts just looks awful. If he turns out to have decent tolerances in the engineering I might still be interested as he might be fun to transform.

I hope the Netflix WFC show doesn't feature a scene of "Shinji" busting a nut to Spinister's comatose body

Apeface\'s plastic is too cheap.
