Via Weibo user Notrab we have images of some new redecos of Studio Series figures. Transformers: Studio Series Rusty Bumblebee and Camo Blackout Images for your viewing pleasure.
These are Limited edition figures from Hasbro China’s flagship storeNew. According to a comment from Mark Hong On Facebook these figures were a special giveaway prize for the customers who bought Studio Series figures from Hasbro CN’s TaoBao site at May 15. One Day only.
Blackout features an interesting blue faded finishing while Bumblebee looks a gorgeous rusty and old look. Bumblebee’s packaging look the same as the Hasbro release, even with the same number 1, but comes in vehicle mode. So far, fans interested in getting these variants will have to wait for online dealers to have them in stock.

Thats just the Omni7 exclusive version that was released two years ago. It's not new.

Supposedly, it's identical to the Hasbro Target exclusive "Then and Now" two-pack release except the Takara version was available individually.

Also, this is the Volkswagen Bumblebee sculpt. This thread is about the Classic Camaro figure.

The Hasbro version looks better, IMO as both Blackout and Grindor were USAF and USN aircraft, respectiviely. This repaint is done in the same colors as the PLA AF.

Hasbro's looks better.

I’m wondering why Hasbro and Takara Tomy still haven’t released a Grindor repaint of the Studio Series Blackout mold yet. I know that Grindor has some differences from Blackout, such as his size and his vehicle mode, but making and releasing that repaint is something that Hasbro would definitely do. After all, I’m sure that a lot of people still want that mold and a lot of people also want Grindor to make his way into this toy line.

It looks good and I am glad the owner decided to share some in-hand pics so we can see what it actually looks like. When it was first announced originally, I wanted to buy this but since it is a hand-painted custom with the availability of a Lucky Draw figure (like the Milk Deluxe Optimus Prime), I feel it is OK for me to pass on this. I am not criticizing the existence of this official toy like some other debbie downers, I just don't think it is for me. Will Hasbro release a repainted of this mold? I see no reason not to. It will not have the same camouflage though.
EDIT: After reading this thread again and seeing how some people dislike the undamaged Bumblebee, I figured the first SS-01 Bumblebee is movie accurate to the Bumblebee Movie Prequel, not the 2007 Movie.

Yeah, who wants to transform their transformers. (Me.)
Did the artist actually hand-paint 88 of these? That sounds incredibly tedious.
What a strange, strange release. Maybe a 3rd party will give us a camo deco that doesn't chip off and is actually available to purchase.

Decepticon Blackout (…) is an exclusive Lucky Draw prize in a contest only accessible to people who bought Studio Series figures on May 15, 2018 on Hasbro China's official TaoBao online shop. There were only 88 Blackouts made. He is decoed in a less than accurate camouflage deco painted by Chinese artist Li Yunfeng of SangZong Repaint Studio.
The warning sticker on the packaging notes that fiddling and transforming him may result in the deco being chipped off.

I don't expect you later ask me to lay eggs because I tasted some omelette?

I do love his Pave Low heavy-lift helicopter mode only thing I never liked were his hands though.

I know this is such a big nitpicky thing to say but the gloss coat on Blackout ruins it. Military vehicles are never glossed, but finished in matte!

I mean they both look good to me
Care to show us your repaints?

Ooh, camo styled Blackout, that doesn't look too bad on him.

More examples:
"丧钟" (mourning bell)'s repain works. His style is always greasy, dusty. I don't see much improve over the years.
While personally I think "炮手/Gunner" repaint is at a higher standard.

Not sure about the Bumblebee, but this blackout is a fan repaint by a so-called "master" (or self-claimed "master") . It's clearly stated on this pic.
His name is "丧钟", translate to "mourning bell".
I read a lot about him on Baidu Transformer forum. 7 or 8 years ago when very few people did repaint in China, he was quite famous then, but his skill didn't improve much, while more and more transformers repaint artists (like "炮手/Gunner" and "小雨") showed up, people started to make fun of him.
But one thing for sure, he is good advertising his work.

Wait, this really exists? Are we sure it's not a fan paint job? It looks like it's chipping already…
A much more subtle camo pattern would be better but still interesting to see.

Just wanted to remind people that there are three different rusty Camaro Bumblebees out there:
– TaoBao exclusive 01 (the version from the beginning of this thread)
– Toys"R"Us Singapore exclusive 01
– 27 Clunker Bumblebee

is this the closest we're getting to Studio Series Grindor?
