30 years ago, the Transformers line was introduced to Hot Rod, the turbo-revvin’ young punk who would assume the mantle of Autobot leader as Rodimus Prime. A mainstay of the Transformers line since then, Hot Rod – or Rodimus as he is sometimes known – is getting a new Deluxe class toy as a part of the Titans Return line.
Yesterday’s leak saw us get our first confirmation of a Hot Rod – who looks to be a part of a future Deluxe assortment along with Doublecross, Triggerhappy, and Getaway – but the images we saw there were placeholders. Now, via our fellow fans over at the Allspark, we can show you what this toy looks like.
What we can see from the image – which appears to be a Hasbro paint guide – is that Hot Rod has a lithe, sleek silhouette. His design is very much inspired by the original Generation 1 design, and he’s got a bit of bulk in the arms – almost a little too much compared to the rest of the body, but it is hard to judge on these design documents how it will look in hand. The vehicle mode is a slightly chunkier rendition of the classic futuristic hot rod car mode – possibly to incorporate somewhere for the Titan Master to sit – and we can also see Hot Rod comes with two pistols (which may combine into one gun). The Titan Master seems to be inspired by Firebolt, Hot Rod’s old Targetmaster buddy, and is entirely flat grey on this document. Given the document indicates where the paint apps are going, it looks like we’re getting no paint on this Titan Master – all the more for the main toy, though.

My opinion this is THE BEST RODIMUS DESIGN BY FAR! The current mtmte rodimus I give a close 2nd. I personally wish the artist would keep this design instead of blocky g1 design.

I also don't like the HM gimmick, but at least the ones that weren't Headmasters to begin with can be made proper with some modding. I already have Hot Rod about half way there, so the figure just got that much cooler for me.
If people don't like the gimmick, there's no reason to criticize them or call them whiners. It's all about personal preference. I never liked Headmasters whatsoever, but I'm really enjoying some of the figures I've been getting in this line. Do I now like Headmasters? No. Do I like well-engineered and fun mainline figures? Hell yes!
So far the only ones I haven't liked are Alpha Trion, Sentinel Prime, Chromedome and Getaway, so I don't own them. Pretty simple.
On the Hot Rod front, I don't think the arms are out of proportion whatsoever. I think the illusion is created by the somewhat narrow torso, making the arms seem disproportionate in that they're almost half as wide as the chest.

^ Seconded! After seeing what Takara did with Blurr, I've been holding out for their version of Hot Rod.
Olivus Prime
AGH Takara needs to announce the Legends version, I want this figure NOW!

@motorthing speaks right. So right.

View attachment 27644058 I fucking love this figure, yet another well worked out, well articulated Carbot.
And I don't care about the "gimmick" or the fucking whining about it either. A good Toy is a good toy, and this is a damn fine example.

God damn it! I'm impatient and I need to find this figure in the wild. Don't want to pay more than retail just to get it and kickback shipped to me. Hoping to snag it while deluxes are still $10 at the walmarts and targets of the world

I don't like this figure, but its simply because I don't like it. I don't like the arms being too big and the alt mode being too blocky. It's based on the toy itself, not some silly gimmick. If Hot Rod is a Headmaster so what.

I lose my head all the time. It's like a proper problem, I'll be there casually watching some film (Like Man of Steel) and BLAM! Triggered. I'll lose my shit, get all angry about the choices they made and head lost. My friends think I have an honest to God problem and need therapy. But all suggestions like that do is make me lose my head some more.
Oh wait, you were talking about Headmaster heads? Uhh… no. Not lost any of those.
Lord Dcast
Haven't lost a single one. Just plug them in or put them in the cockpit when you're done. The only time you would really lose them if if you're buying the Takara Legends Legends (as in Legends Class from Takara) where they come with an extra head that has nowhere to go, and at that point there's really no point.
SouthtownKid
If there really is anyone who actually loses Headmaster heads, they really shouldn't be so eager to admit it.
Murasame
Just take care of your stuff. I still have my Headmasters from my childhood complete and any other Transformer as well. I only peeled the stickers off, because I did not like the look of them. I still don't like stickers.
