Artist Ken Christiansen has come back sharing more concept art related to his work with Hasbro via his Facebook account. This time we have a look at The Last Knight Quintessa And Skulk Toy Concept Art.
Quintessa, the evil sorceress from The Last Knight, was included as a clear plastic figurine together with the Toys”R”Us exclusive Mission To Cybertron Infernocus 5-pack. We have not only one, but 3 different concept art images for this toy. Each one featuring head and torso variations.
But there’s more to see here. Ken Christiansen also shared the Skulk concept art. Skulk was the central body component of the Infernocus toy and the only new mold, since the other four components were just repaints of the Beast Hunters Abominus limbs. The original design brings us a very mean looking character which had included a big battle axe.
You can check out all the images after the jump and then sound off your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I never picked it up

Seeing Quintessa's design in closer detail really does make me wish to seer her get a full sized SS figure in some manner. not sure what her alt mode would be like but hey if they were able to give DOTM Shockwave an alt mode in the toyline despite never transofmring in the movie then they could think of something here.
Same goes for Skulk and the rest of his Infernocon buddies though I wouldn't be too opposed if we got a POTP Terrorcon repaint of the group in box set form with possibly having Skulk be a massive retool from POTP Grimlock.

Nah. She has some definite influence.

I think I\'m the only one that thinks Quintessa resembles Botanica

That’s why they should do a box set.

I love the snake legs on Quintessa… reminds me of the greek mythical Gigantes, who had snake tails for legs.
The toy is nice, but teeny-tiny, as small as a human in D&D miniatures.
You have the toy? He is way bigger than a legion, easily around Scout/Legends size. That's why the combined form is far taller than Abominus, too.
I'd like to see a SS toy of Infernocus himself. Skulk is a very accurate representation of the in-movie Infernocons, but Infernocus had a much bigger, bulkier form with giant horns, sort of like a robot version of Diablo from Diablo II, with giant cannons on both arms. The trouble with getting him or Skulk in that series is simply… they have no alt modes, really.

Voyager figure. Massive assortment or box set.

I hope Skulk would get a SS toy, his design is so awesome it’d be such a waste if he only got a tiny Legion

Reminda me of Slan from the comic and cartoon show "Berserk"

I actually thought she was the only good thing about the last movie…the rest was trash
Deadend
There's definitely possibilities in that, and the concept of her as a space reptile or carnivorous thing is a good one, if the transformation can keep to cost and still look movie accurate.
For a Botanica retool, it'd mostly be replacing the tentacles with roots/vines, and the top half. While a Quintesson full combination, might be simpler to do some kind of shell former attachment that has slots for 5 faces.
GrimLocke
Oh, I went overboard in reimagining Quintessa as the founding mold for a set of Quintessons that would combine into one Judge unit, so that each Quintesson contributes one face to the final entwined Quintesson stalk. Probably, then, a central Quintesson vine would have the facet cylinder as a “cannon” blooming off it’s back.
Still, with a lot of hinges, you could get the lower jaw up and over the main head to form either shoulder pads, or a smaller cowl behind the upper jaw retreating for the yuge Ming the Merciless or Doctor Strange cowl… if for some reason Quintessa had her stats rerolled with Alpha Q in Siege.
Or, just have the lower jaws fold under her arm pits and then behind her back and out of the way. Though, that’s just cause I feel it’s worth making something of that apparent connection to Nagas and other were-serpents across comparative mythology.
And, that same sort of engineering could be repeated for a half blossomed flower that folds around itself to reveal a coweled Botanica, a bit like Rosemon with her leaf cowl, for instance.
Though, the simplest road is to just have a Reptilian head or Flower blossom fold into the chest to reveal the head like the Allicons.

Let\'s just forget this ever happened

I was thinking movie accurate so no need to redesign and add in animals, whereas the combined element would be more G1 like, with Lovecraftian elements. But of course with a rotation element for the titan masters at a 5 slot setup or some kind of attachment to make them more G1 like in appearance. If she's going studio series she can't stray from movie concepts, but other lore additions can tweak as needed. Not sure on Alpha Q though. While he was neat, his Piranha like overbody hid his faces too much. Quintessa needs to be more sleek and not consumed, she's more consuming.

That Quintessa design…as much as I really think it sucks, it STILL looks better than the thing in TLK.
Heliblade
The similarities are very broad strokes.
Quintessa fills in for Alpha Q.
Hot Rod is present as a member of an ally faction (order of witwiccans and omnicons).
Infernocus fills in for Bruticus and the Infernocons are similar to the Terrorcons in general.
Nitro Zeus fills in for Shockblast and Sixshot.
Unicron is a major part of the plot.
Galvatron reverts back to Megatron.
Exceptionally annoying humans.
Rumblestorm
How so?
Cykill 1
It looks like a cross between Medusa and that monster chick from the movie Species.

Energon was better though.
