I like how intense this looks.

Yeah, those guys invented tons of stuff back then!
Those old stories are fun to look thru now though. It was a whole 'nother world……
SouthtownKid
Agreed, although it's ironic, since he and Joe Simon are the ones who originated the entire romance comics genre in the 1950s.

It's the G1 version of The Last Knight OP!

Wow, that doesnt look very good at all.
Its funny when editors hire artists just because they have a "name" even if they arent the right style for the job. This used to happen with Frank Miller all the time.
I wouldnt hire Jack Kirby to do a sexy girl pin-up, it might look interesting, but it just wasnt his forte.
But, art is subjective after all, Im sure there are those who love it.
Im sure there will be plenty of copies left for them to buy…….probably at a discount.
DoctorJoe
I agree with this completely. Fantastic artist who's skills don't translate well into mechanical beings. Not a ding. different style….his human characters are fantastic and very emotive
Booster Gold
Yeah he wouldn't be my first, second or third choice for Transformers but he's up there in my top ten list of comic book creators. Battling Boy and Batman Year 100 being just two great examples of his frenzied, kinetic and regularly breathtaking style. To be frank I expect this is little more than a work for hire, pay the bills sort of thing for him.
SouthtownKid
It's just Pope's normal style.
He's one of the great cartoonists of our generation, in the vein of Hergé, Toth and Pratt. I just don't know how much his style fits Transformers. And that is by no means a slam on him. It's a good thing.

Love the intensity of fans.
My thought, not horrible, probably appeals more to newer fans or movie fans since this looks very Michael Bay-inspired.
I doesn't appeal to me, looks distorted and "off.'

This cover couldn't be any worse if they tried. Do they even see cover art/layout samples of these 'artists' before they go to print?

Wow this is pretty badass artwork.

Paul Pope is one of my all-time favorites. THB was amazing, and I loved 100%.
But here is another example of an otherwise great artist who probably doesn't need to be drawing Transformers.
On the other hand, his GI Joe cover is fantastic.

Someone's got the cramps.
