I'll have to compare them. I wonder if there's a scan somewhere…I sure as hell am NOT taking any chances after wasting $4 in THIS piece of crap.

There's synopsis for the Beast Within on tfwiki. Otherwise it's hard to explain. It's as terrible, but does it in a different way.
Dunno… Deviations makes you dissapointed and upset at spending money at it, the Beast Withing makes you facepalm hard enough to give a brain damage.
Lord Dcast
But Deviations gave me a "WTF did I read?" for also being a sloppy mess
Bass X0
I didn't. I view comics online.
Haywired
TF: Deviations is terrible by the power of condensed "meh".
The Beast Within is terrible by the power of "WTF I read!?"
Different kinds of bad.
But they both feel like fanfics.
Lord Dcast
But yeah, this comic is still utter garbage, spoilers or no spoilers.
Haven't read Beast Within. Is that worse or better?
Rotorstorm
I'll spoiler my post if it helps you feel better.
Just trying to save people some money and a feeling of anger at the end of reading it.

While I wouldn't go as far as saying it was the worst comic I've ever read, I do have to say that I was very disappointed with it. Sure, it was interesting idea to see what someone's take on "what if" Prime didn't die, but I honestly feel that I've read better fan-fiction which could come up with a more interesting plot-line and outcome.
Also, I agree with many others here, where some of the character lines are just off. Especially some of Magnus's lines… it just doesn't sound like something he'd say.

This sort-of almost happened:
The Secret of Cybertron – Transformers Wiki
Maybe this should've been the basis of the 'What if?'.
Lord Dcast
I actually used the spoiler tag back when I was discussing it. Well, not on the 'how it should've happened', but still.
Murasame
I wanted to say this is the review thread, but then I realized, it's not, it's the preview thread :O
Rookgordijn
I really don't understand some people here. That you and the majority think it's utter bullshit doesn't mean you have to give spoilers for those people who do plan to read it. It's not up to you where people should spend their own money on.
Rodimus Prime
IDW: Fires Roberts and replaces him with this guy.
MTMTE Fans: Nooooooo!
Lord Dcast
I would say spoilers, but you've just saved many people $4.
Although it does bring something to the table. Why don't we come up with our own version of alternate universes?
Optimus Prime survives, but so does Megatron. Megatron pulls Starscream into space with him and they go to Unicron together. Both get reformatted and Shockwave has assumed command, but he instantly returns it to Megatron (now Galvatron). Then, Galvatron and Megascream return to earth and attack the Autobots. The movie continues with Optimus and Hot Rod together at all times, with Optimus as a mentor figure. No angst and visions of Optimus dying. No Autobot casualties that happened in the comics. In the final battle, you have Megascream and Galvatron VS Optimus and Hot Rod. Optimus Prime prepares to open the matrix, but in the process it also reformats Hot Rod into Rodimus Prime.
But it doesn't kill Unicron. Instead, Cybertron transforms into Primus and kills Unicron.
BEST. DEVIATION. EVER.
Or not. Could be utter shit as I'm doing this as I go. Not planning on making a whole fanfiction about it. What am I, from Tumblr?!
Rotorstorm
I've read it, and it is a waste,
As much as it pains me, I think I would rather see a Michael Bay adaptation of the 86 movie than read this again, at least that would be entertaining.
You really shouldn't pay money for it unfortunately.
Lord Dcast
Leave Comixology be. They don't know Transformers. We do.
Haywired
There's no -1 rating, unfortunately.
I can give it 1, but otherwise won't help.
Yeah, I agree with the "author" that there's a considerable interest in G1-era TF comics.
Just not with him.
Murasame
Some people need to rate the book and give it the correct rating. Can't be it has 4 stars.
Lord Dcast
Never thought I'd be so angry at a comic book.
Haywired
No. Not G1 with this author.
Nonononononononononononononono!!!
Seriously.
NO!
Seriously, hyping this book in media will only do harm to IDW and their TF line. This isn't any kind of artistic experiment, it's just a very juvenile fanfic with the only worthwile idea there (Megascream's design) coming from the artists.
It makes the simplest possible writing coming from Budiansky back when he was just shilling toys in comic books looking like a freakin "War&Peace" in comparison. Sunbow as simple as it was is Akira Kurosawa next to this book.
