From the SG Collect website:
After the release of DFT-01 at the Singapore Toy Carnival. SGCollect.com has made available a limited release of DFT-01X. This item is also a resin kit in black and red colored hues. The DFT-01X is limited to 50/50 pieces. Each piece would have the packaging numbered like the earlier release. SGCollect.com had promised to keep the DFT-01 series limited to a total of 150 pieces worldwide and would keep to the promise.Click on the discuss link to know more about the kit.
UPDATE: New Images of the DFT-01X courtesy of SGCollect.

Eh, no.

Between cost, the materials it's made out of, and the fact it's a robot that's not hasbro made that transforms… I'll just wait for the KO from the mold.
I do dig the character, love the vehicle, and the swords. But for that cost and not even having Hasbro quality? Not worth the money at all. I would have accepted even gundam model grade plastic if it was accurate, and under 50 USD at the most. But as it is, this is resin, parts don't line up or fit right, not everything is included to make it, and on top of all that it can't even hold poses? Yeah this was an awesome idea, but total fail on execution. Knock Offs could do nothing but improve this, even with crappy plastic grades.
I just hope when Hasbro gets around to doing drift, they one up this guy considerably especially with durability, poseability, and even accuracy.

Just re-read the comic. I wonder why they didn't call the black version Deadlock, which was his decepticon name.

Mm..Point taken.
But then, the price will be another deterring factor. (See what I mean?)
What else is in discussion here? Mold degradation, how good the piece can hold itself together, blah, blah, blah…
Thus it ain't difficult to see that the rants aren't here for nothing.
Satomiblood
Hypothetically speaking.
Automorpher
But the truth is:
Quality ain't getting better this far.
Some of the boys here can actually attest to that.
tarZen
Really? So on these boards we can only sing praises? Please, everyone is entitled to his opinion, positive or not. When we see good pieces we give positive comments, when we feel something is trash we speak our minds. What is there left to discuss if we have to impose self-censorship? Rather than criticizing others for bashing this, why not just focus on what you think are its merits? That makes for a far more constructive discussion.
Satomiblood
Personally, I don't mind the paint and assembly part of it. I'm more concerned with the quality and how well the kit can hold up. Obviously, that's been the main complaint. But I also think it's pretty unfortunate that the rods and drill bits aren't included.
I'd love to see anovassin post a video review of this kit.
I don't agree with the price, and that's probably what's keeping me from giving this a try, but I understand that producing these types of kits isn't cheap (or simple).

No, and that's exactly the main gripe about this kit: the quality. I used to assemble Gundams on a regular basis so I have no problems with doing so with a kit like this. But would you honestly feel satisfied paying 100 bucks for something youtake your time in building and correcting faults, and at the end of the day it cannot pose or even transform correctly. Not by any fault you made while assembling him, but just that the construction is so sub-par it's as good as it will get.
It also says a lot when the person in charge of these instead of refunding buyers when they started to break, cut down production because of mold degradation (after building 150 instead of 300), and also has how-to tips since snapping parts are common place.
TM2 D-bot
And who brought up that point?
Because most here have also bought previously from SGCollect and have sampled their products.
The only "bitching" about assembling is that this kit DOES NOT include the necessary parts to put him together. You have to pay even seperately for the drill bits.
If you know what material is being used have you seen Gundam resin kits made by third parties? Kits that cost less than half this figure costs.
I'll just repeat myself from previous posts I made about the DFT-01 kit:
I suggest you also read these threads: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic…sin-kit-limited-edition-dft-01-sgcollect.html

Satomiblood
What if the quality was better, but you still had to assemble/paint it? Would you guys still find reason to complain?
Houndvoice
So? If you don't like to build it yourself, then don't buy.
So that's one legitimate opinion. And all the others are just jumping the bandwagon?
Megamus was the one being kindest to it – others resolve to bitch'n moan style 'why should I care', 'don't want to assemble and paint it', 'it's too expensive'. Well, then don't buy it!!
I know it's resin and not injection molded plastic; I don't know how it was produced.
I don't understand. Who're not being nice? The figures? The opinions?
Absolutely people should give opinions, but to me saying 'this is rubbish/sucky/garbage/crap' isn't an opinion, it's just being rude.
TM2 D-bot
1. It's a build it yourself kit.
2. One of the "bashers" in this thread actually owns the piece.
3. Do you know how and with what materials this kit was produced?
So you honestly expect people not to give their opinion if they are not being nice?
Houndvoice
Seriously, what's up with all the bashing?
The thing isn't even finished yet, is it? Went over to the sgcollect website and I think it looks pretty decent?
And 15000 SGD isn't a whole lot to cover expenses with molds, time, materials etc.
Anyhow, the saying goes if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say it..
rocky_star117
OMG, just do not understand why people are still buying this rubbish, or just buy his name Drift. Even those KO in the market do a better job than this kit.
Smasher
$100? I would pay $300. Gladly.
$100 for each sword.
Actually, that should be $400 because the uber-kewlest sword that he only uses in emergencies is probably worth $200.
Or, you know, I just like to make jokes about the need for three swords.
TM2 D-bot
They used to have a link for orders outside of SGCollect members. That's where the 100 dollar price for the first kit came from. For SGCollect members he cost 100 SGD, while non-board members were charged in US dollars.
tarZen
Like I said before, this just looks like a cheap KO of a non-existent toy.
Automorpher
Why are we even talking about this piece in the first place?
I mean, this release should be ignored & forgotten till April Fool '10 in which we'll all have a hale & hearty laugh by then.
Word.
I just made you my favourite man for your quote.
