Back at SDCC 2019 the Transformers team held a special event off site at Brick by Brick, the club where Transformers 86 Soundtrack Composer Vince DiCola performed.  They had the fully functional grey resin prototype of Haslab’s Transformers War for Cybertron Siege Unicron on display along with the team from Takara Tomy and several Transformers movie personalities like Flint Dille and several voice actors.   We rushed over after covering the show floor at SDCC and were able to grab, relay images that night.  Today we wanted to re-share those images, a bit more refined and polished.  When we cover events in real time, curation and refinement of the pics are not possible due to the speed and amount that are coming in.   The goal here was to transform the big guy in real time and let us record and watch, but due to some technical difficulties that didn’t happen.  We do however have some clean shots of him in both modes.

Unicron is a crowdfunding project being run by Hasbro on their self run platform Haslab.  He will only get made if 8,000 units are purchased before the deadline of August 31st, 2019.  This will be the biggest Transformer ever made if it goes through, based on the biggest Transformer in the history of the franchise.  We urge you guys to check it out, and #UNITEFORUNICRON by backing it!  You can check out all the details and order if you dig it here – Transformers: War For Cybertron Unicron.

Great news for fellow Australian fans! Courtesy of our good friends at Ozformers on Facebook, we can report that the massive War For Cybertron Unicron Pre-Orders will be available In Australia Via EB Games And Zing.

Pre-orders via EB Games and Zing online stores go for AU$848 which is about US$575. A very good chance to bring the chaos bringer at home for Australian collectors. Pre-orders require a deposit of AU$100 (US$68.00) and they will be open until August 31st.

Keep in mind that this is only going ahead if the American target of 8,000 units is reached. If the item does not get into production, money will be refunded.

It’s Unicron! Run! Via Gizmodo website we can share a new Haslab War For Cybertron Unicron Transformation Video for your viewing pleasure!

Takara Tomy designer Takashi Kunihiro, wearing an elegant tuxedo for the occasion, transforms Unicron gray prototype from planet to robot mode. A very clever and interesting transformation; and not as complicated as we could expect; inspired in what we saw in the classic Transformers Movie from 1986.

Unicron Is Coming… Maybe.  The Haslab project is in full swing, with just over a quarter of the required 8000 units needed to go into production ordered.  Many folks wished they could have a bit more time to secure the funds, especially since it won’t be out for over a year.   Specialty retailers to the rescue!  Several of our sponsors have options to order the Chaos Bringer directly from them, at a premium of course.  We don’t know the full details, but we assume they will place orders in bulk themselves near the end and contribute to the total 8000.   While it will be a tad more expensive to order this way, it gives those that do more time to pay it off. The first Transformers Crowdfunding figure has reached 25% of it’s final goal of 8000 supporters and we still have 34 days to reach this amount. If so, Unicron’s figure will be produced, taking his place as the biggest Transformers ever made!

Thanks to 超偏見超変形/リベンジ (@Chohenken) on Twitter, Stryker Wang on Twitter, 超偏見超変形/リベンジ on Twitter, トランスフォーマー情報局 on Twitter and Hobby Dengeki Web we can share for you a nice set of images of the Transformers display at Takara Tomy Booth during Wonder Festival 2019.

The main reveal was the Generations Selects King Poseidon/Seacons prototypes but we had a wide selection of toys from different lines at the event, including Unicron gray prototype. Here’s what we could see there:

  • War For Cybertron Unicron Gray Prototypes – One in robot mode and another in planet mode.The planet mode is an early prototype we hadn’t seen before.
  • Generations Selects King Poseidon/Seacons prototypes – Shown in combiner mode, and individual robot and beast modes.
  • Beast Wars Masterpiece – Megatron, Cheetor, Blackarachnia, Dinobot and more toys were on display. The main character was the upcoming Masterpiece Lio Convoy for sure. While he was not shown in beast mode, a new cartoon-accurate gun was revealed. 
  • TakaraTomy Legendary Nemesis Prime 7-11 Japan Exclusive
  • Transformers 35th Anniversary Convoy & Optimus Prime Set
  • Beast Wars Neo Big Convoy’s Matrix Buster Prototype – An unexpected surprise. Not much information on hoy this new big accessory will be released. It was on display together with a normal Big Convoy toy, not the recent anime colors Encore reissue.
  • TV-Kun x Takara Tomy Transformers 35th Anniversary Commander Convoy Box Crowdfunding – We could see the items included on this crowdfunding: G1 Convoy Golden Trophy,  A reprint of the 1985 S.T.A.R.S kit and the Transformers Super Complete Works” book.
  • Bumblebee Movie Dioramas – Recreating several key scenes from the movie using several toys.
  • Transformers Siege – A nice display of the recent figures, and the new molds of Spinister, Ratbat, Frenzy and Rung were also on display.
  • Transformers: Cyberverse – Another great variety of figures which have just hit the Japanese market.

As it was announced previously, Takara Tomy has just opened pre-orders for the new War For Cybertron Unicron via Takara Tomy Mall website.

Thanks to our very own 2005 Boards mod Gamerlingual for giving us the heads up about this news. Now Japanese fans can pre-order Unicron here for 75,600 Yen which is $696.05 approximately. Almost $120 more than the $574.99 asked in the Haslab crowdfunding.

The reservation period will be from July 26th, 2019 at 12:00 to August 30th 2019 at 13:00 with a limit of just 2 orders per customer and expected for delivery by the beginning of 2021. The order information on the website indicates that if the Haslab Unicron Crowdfunding does not reach its 8000 backers goal, Unicron won’t be produced and all orders will be cancelled.

Now, it’s unclear if these orders will be part of Haslab crowdfunding backers amount or if they will be just added as extra international orders to the original 8000 US backers in the crowdfunding. We may find more official information via Tokyo Toy Show event in a few days.
