Hot on the heels of our first in-hand images of the new Legacy United Core Tasmania Kid, now we have pictures of his wave partner Transformers Legacy United Core Class Energon Universe Megatron for our viewing pleasure.
These images come thanks to 2005 Boards members Lazerwave and Oniconvoy. This new mold is a very nice modern and faithful rendition to the original Energon Megatron design, now adding some modern poseability. The new Core class size will sure look great in the hands of Energon or Armada Megatron.
Not much left to say, so see the new images after the break and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Courtesy of Twitter user @aaaoutbreakaaa we can share for you new in-hand images of the rare Transformers Superlink Grand Convoy (Energon Optimus Prime) Custom Color Version.
This figure was a lucky draw offered by TV Magazine in Japan while back in 2004. There was a coloring contest to decide the deco of figure and then only 10 units were made. A very unique and very hard piece to find for sure.
We have HQ images of the main inner robot, alt mode, drones and super mode in all fancy eye-burning colors. See all the mirrored images after the jump and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Aaron Archer was the lead for creative and design on Transformers during the Armada / Energon / Cybertron era – eventually working his way to Vice President of Desgin, Creative and IP Development for Boys Toys at Hasbro through the first Transformers Movies. He has since left the company but is still working freelance and developing original projects. Recently on his Instagram account he’s been doing and sharing original sketches of characters he’s had a hand in – and some of those pieces are Transformers related. A lot of cool artwork, with his thoughts and comments on each, are available. He’s also been sharing his process via the stories feature.
We’ve collected some of the artwork here – we encourage everyone to go check them out along with his mini QnA on each post and of course give him a follow!

2004 was the 20th anniversary year of the Transformers and also a disastrous year for the brand. Toys were poorly distributed leading to a long period where very little new product made it to shelves, and two major licensors – Dreamwave Comics and 3H who ran the official convention – folded. On the positive side Hasbro and Takara pressed ahead with the Alternators / Binaltech line, a well-received collector-oriented line that reimagined classic Transformers are real cars with realistic detailing and interiors, and the 20th anniversary was marked with a special 20th anniversary Optimus Prime, whose production was aided by a fan poll hosted on this website! In Japan, the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime was released as Masterpiece MP-1 Convoy, kicking off the popular Masterpiece line. [Read more…]

Thanks to 2005 Boards Member Monzo for sharing a new look at an old mystery. Back when Transformers Energon was out, Prowl was initially shown with a head sculpt that differed from the final release. In his travels, Monzo came across some production materials for Energon including Prowl, and we get a look at that alternate head in a bit more detail. Read on to check out the images, and hit the discuss link to talk about it on the forums! [Read more…]
