Artist Ken Christiansen has been involved with the Transformers franchise for quite a long time. We have seen a lot of his work in Transformers product packaging and other media. Now, via his Facebook account, he has shared a very interesting initial concept art of new character Ectotron from the Transformers x Ghostbusters crossover.
This the very first idea that came after the question “What if Ecto-1 turned into a transformer?”. We can see a bulkier character design and different location of Ecto-1’s parts in the robot mode. A very nice start that then was refined in the final product. We have also added the amazing final packaging art by artist Emiliano Santalucia on this post for comparison.

We have some bad new for fellow Australian collectors. Ozformers Facebook is sharing information about a September delay for the release of the Transformers X Ghostbusters Ectotron figure in Australian market.
Ectotron toy is exclusive to Zing Pop Culture Australia and EB Games Australia stores and it has been delayed, from June 6th (which would have been tomorrow) to September this year. A new long extra 3-month wait for this toy.
While it’s not that the release is cancelled in any way, this delay will sure not be good to keep the interest of local fans in Australia. Some may try to import it via online retailers considering the figure will be available long before September.

YellaWolf Studios Product Photography is bringing our first in-hand images of Ectotron, the new original character from the Transformers x Ghostbusters crossover.
Ectotron is a transformable Ecto-1 as seen in the classic Ghostbusters film. The mold seems to share the engineering of the Combiner Wars Onslaught/Hot Spot mold, but he sure looks unique in design and style. The Ecto-1 mode looks very nice and includes the iconic Ghostbusters logo on the doors. Robot mode is nice and detailed with kind of a retro look on it. As a great extra bonus, it includes a fun Slimer figurine in clear green plastic.
Ectotron is due to release on July this year, and it will be a Gamestop exclusive in the US, EB Games in Canada, and Zing and EB Games in Australia.
