Courtesy of 2005 Boards member ph4zed and thatonefoo we have our first in-hand images of the new Retro G1 Bombshell and Ramhorn reissues.
These are Walmart exclusives figures sold as a 2-pack and some copies have already been shipped. Both figure feature a new cartoon accurate deco with no stickers at all plus 4 small Energon cubes.
See the images after the break and then share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Europe. I got it from Pulse Germany with free shipping to The Netherlands. It's on Pulse UK too, but then I'd had to pay import taxes and such.
Arie
They should have made that findable on the website under Transformers Retro. I'll wait for Pulse, that saves a few euro again, like with Optimus Prime.

Do it

Oh no, no, no… Thundercracker in my mind should be dark blue like the original toy and the MP-7 figure. The lighter, brighter blue used in the cartoon never appealed to me at all. I also don’t like the grey fists.
But again, to each their own. If I wanted a dark blue TC, I should have tracked one down when I was a kid!

Wait, Retro G1 Optimus is on Pulse? In Europe or the US?

While this is not advertised here, I'd wager it will be part of the same event: Retro Optimus Prime Rolls Out for Walmart Winter Collector Con 2024

I thought the same when I first received Starscream. But then I got Thundercracker and thought the ‘Cobra Commander’ blue was gorgeous.

I recognize (and even appreciate) that toys such as these are being offered to those that seek such an aesthetic, but the toon decos IMO do not compliment the original designs at all. Bombshell is probably the least offensive so far, but it still looks like a low-budget KO.

Well, the re-issue Optimus Prime just appeared on Pulse, so it's possible Bombshell will appear there soon as well. For what it's worth, here in the Netherlands I got mine from here:

Even the FansToys "MP" Bombshell didn't have that and was simply released in a purple and a grey version ; )
I agree that it was time to get a grey G1 Bombshell. And having both versions in hand (of all 3 insecticons) I can say they certainly aren't better or worse looking than the originals. I really like the new versions.

What a pain in the ass. I have all the anime-accurate TFTM and 40th G1 reissues except this one. None of them were too hard to find online at WM or if necessary, Pulse.
Where the hell is this available?
MrBlud
It’s a reissue so it’s not going to do any “MP magic” with flip panels and what not to give you a purple bug but grey robot.
They decided to focus on the robot. I can’t really fault them for that decision as “purple robot” Bombshell was the original and has been reissued FOUR TIMES so that version has ample presence whereas this is the only grey one.
Hans
Nope, the 6 energon cubes! : )
galvatran
What's inside the wrapping? Ramhorn accessories? Thanks.
Fortress Prime
if you get a set, i'd split it with you. im lookin for that bombshell

Geez Bombshell looks like @$$ in Sunbow colors.

I think the Beast Wars reissues might have sold better if they hadn't been released so closely to the Kingdom line. I'll bet reissues of Dinobot and Blackarachnia would sell very well. And probably Transmetal Megatron.

Not talking about BW reissues. This line is called the G1 86 Retro Reissues line. People on these boards are constantly saying that the G1 retro 86 line is rotting on Walmart shelves and they can't clearance them hard enough. Meanwhile I'm seriously considering ordering from RK and paying way more because I cannot find them at Walmart at all or order them on the Walmart site.
cryotek
I just want Ramhorn, along with his tech spec.

Wow, seeing the Retro toon Insecticons right next to the originals, totally confirms my preference for the latter and removes all possible temptation for me. I regret not getting the 2009 three-pack reissue, and I'll be waiting and hoping for Vintage G1 reissues. The vac-metal, translucent yellow and darker purple really pop and stand out, proving to be a better combo for shelf-presence in my opinion.
I need the 2018-2020 Vintage G1 reissue line to continue.
