Skybound announced the first book in a new series of original graphic novels due in shops next July, credited to writer Brian “Smitty” Smith (Pea, Bee, and Jay) and artist Marz Jr. (Void Rivals cover artist):
The Decepticons are known for being bad…but Ballpoint is truly the worst –the biggest failure of them all. After the latest attempt to take down the Autobots goes horribly wrong, he’s kicked out of the Decepticons, for good! Will Ballpoint be able to prove his worth by defeating the Autobots all by himself? Or will he keep failing and find that being the “best” is…More than Meets the Eye?
“It’s been awesome bringing Ballpoint to life,” said Brian “Smitty” Smith. “Getting to add a brand-new character to the TRANSFORMERS universe is a once in a lifetime opportunity!”
“I’ve been obsessed with TRANSFORMERS since I was a kid,” said Marz Jr. “The 1986 animated movie blew my mind! I’ve tried to put that magic and love into each page.”
Check out the initial cover artwork attached to this post, then sound off with fellow readers on the 2005 boards!
The inaugural offering in Skybound’s young readers line Skybound Comet is an integral component of its overall comics partnership with Hasbro. Other key components include Skybound’s new Energon Universe comic book series (Void Rivals, the two-time Eisner Award winning TRANSFORMERS, and G.I. JOE) and miniseries (Duke, Cobra Commander, Scarlett and Destro), Skybound’s reboot of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero, and Skybound’s ongoing publishing of TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero compendiums.
“Ballpoint might be the worst/best Transformer ever created, and we’re over-the-moon to bring you his (mis)adventures starting in 2025!” Said Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound. “Smitty and Marz Jr.’s work is guaranteed to thrill every TRANSFORMERS kid out there – no matter what age!”

Whoops! Didn’t see this when I posted!

Misfire and the Scavengers in IDW was almost this.

Not sure, but the quality of my pen is that of a cheap ko. I think I got it from a gift shop inside the Seattle Space Needle during the 80s.
Looking online, someone is selling a similar pen on etsy, and claims that theirs has some diecast. Mine doesn't.
I Am James
It's funny how some hands aren't actually pointing at Ballpoint

Question is the pen an official licensed figure or a knock off?

I love these guys! Too bad Triggerhappy was always hard to find and ridiculously expensive aftermarket

I'll wait until I hear more about this, but I could see my kid being interested in this, it seems along the lines of Dog Man and Investi-gators, which he enjoys.
It does make me sad that Botbots are no longer a thing, those were go-to stocking stuffers for a few years, and my kids still talk about them. Good Christmas morning memories for them
Bumblethumper
I had one of these in the 1980s.
Seemed pretty cool at the time, well for what it was.

It's nice to see them going for kids. Comics in general don't seem to care about the under-13 crowd these days.
Under…13…okay, make a comic about Under-3 and do him as a grizzled war veteran who's lost too many allies to count and is numb to war.
…for kids!

I mean anyone who doesn't like dogs is probably a Cobra spy.
Even if this comic is intended for a much younger audience than mainstream Skybound TF, I'm still interested. I love the idea of a Decepticon that couldn't quite measure up. Big Bob, Agent of HYDRA vibes.
Dark Starscream
I am waiting for the comic about Saltshaker and Trimmer.

Oooooh sounds exciting
Tagan Heights
Didn't know it, but that's a dope idea. Someone could create a Lower Decks-esque (but a smarter and less juvenile) TF show with misfits and losers who bond together to learn and develop into strong, capable characters in their own right.
Gee Won 1984
Worst Bot Ever, lol. I can't stop thinking of this guy:
