Transformers Legacy United Wave 2 Deluxe Gears, Chromia & Shard Found In Singapore

In another unexpected Legacy sighting, thanks to Instagram users @jesterhatsjhund and @joanne_ying79 we can report that the new Transformers Legacy United Wave 2 Deluxe Gears, Chromia & Shard have been found in Singapore.

These figures (as well as the previously reported Wave 2 Voyager class toys) showed up at collectors store RoboRobo. We have our first in-package look at each figure plus an interesting detail about Gears. While you may think Gears looks incomplete in package, the unpinned chest piece is now in the paper bag of accessories.

We hope this means these figure will show up at retail in other countries or the US soon. See the images after the break and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

Meanwhile Unite wave 1 Deluxes just reached Homestead, Florida this passed week.

So after months of waiting around, Gears and the rest of the wave 2 Deluxes finally appeared at my nearest Wal-Mart.

Everything in what's left of the ever shrinking Transformers section was on sale, so I picked one up.

Yeah, it's a nice enough figure on it's own, but it never really stood a chance of dethroning my Badcube Grump.
There are some things it can do that Grump can't, but Grump has many things it just does better.
First and foremost being that Grump's alt mode is actually believable next to the other carbots in my collection.

May still be useful for customizing, tho.

So the chest plate for Gears is detached by default? Good to know, and nice foresight on Hasbro's part, if it's an especially easy piece to remove.

I was just about to say "someone stole Gears's chest piece" until I saw that they packaged it separately in the box.

I still get the feeling people might see the figure in stores and think someone did just that thanks to the open packaging.

That’s an odd choice with Gears. I feel like making that joint a pin makes more sense than every copy of the figure looking like a part has been stolen in the packaging?

It's probably an engineering choice, possibly to reduce cost, but it is going to lead to a lot of Gears on shelves with people thinking that he's missing part of is chest. Open Boxes being a dumb idea strikes again.

Good that Gears's chest won't get stolen out of the box, but there's a side-effect of it looking like it's already been stolen. Is displaying an incomplete toy really preferable to bringing back the plastic windows, or making the opening smaller, or covering the opening with bars or a honeycomb/holepunch pattern?

At the very least they could put "assembly required" somewhere noticeable on the box, or add a picture of the separated part to let people know that it's actually in there.

I almost fell for it today!! I even posted a pic in my local sightings thread, hehe. Bought it, and was informed the chest piece was included on the board for reassurance. Been a long time since March and totally forgot, lol.

Hmm… This begs the question why Pulse and Amazon have nothing but June and July shipping dates for these preorders…

With Hong Kong and Singapore sightings, that normally means that US will follow in about two weeks (as retail Wave 2 figures should). But previously that lead to Amazon preorders coming out now.

Maybe it's politics… Walmart and Target are probably tired of Amazon eating their lunch.

I think the targets near me got 1 case of cores and 1 of deluxes for wave 1. Wave 1 is going to be forgotten/ the "hard to find" wave.

they said they went with open packaging because thats what got better results in kid focus groups, which TFs still have but SW B’ack series doesnt.

Yeesh, American shoppers are savages.

I've pretty much never seen that up in Canada. Maybe the occasional box with a smashed-in corner after it was dropped on the floor or such, but those are uncommon enough occurrences that it's clear it was just an accident, and not a deliberate act of theft/vandalism.

I need to order Gears, Sandstorm, Starscream, and.. huh. Already have Shard. I have Silverbolt coming from AJ (already paid). I don’t need Chromia and if she ends up cheap I’ll get her later..

One of these days I’ll escape to your country and live amongst my fellow enjoyers of peace… People here can be downright disgusting, I don’t blame the rest of the world for American stereotypes. Are all people here brutes? No, but you might think that after visiting a Walmart toy aisle.

Tf aren’t going back to plastic. Hasbro said only the action figures lines like Star Wars and marvel legends were. As TF’s are made of tougher materials, they’re happy to have them open to the air. We’re never getting the plastic back

Yeah that's why I wish they would return to the old packaging. There are way too many rips, dents and scratches on these packaging.

Not to mention broken parts and missing pieces. Probably why they put the chest in the extra package. Glad the OP mentioned that, because if I saw it like that, I would have started griping about packaging right there as proof of my point.

Not that it matters when they've made a suicide pact with retailers to never ever have product available in stores.
