I had a great time. This may be my last one and if it is, I'm ending going to TFCon with a bang. For a G1 fan, I don't think it'll ever get any better than this past con.

My hauls from TFCON LA 2024! I had some home repair bills (clogged sewer drain) that hit me right before the show unfortunately so I only had the budget for autographs mostly, but I was able to manage one toy from the dealer room.
So happy to meet Hal Rayle again to have him finish off the Platinum Insecticons set for Shrapnel! Previously signed by Michael Bell (Bombshell) and Clive Revill (Kickback).
View attachment 30305107
Hal also signed a Studio Series 86 Snarl, even though Snarl was barely in the movie and didn't have any lines and a Kingdom Pipes
View attachment 30305112
Hal on GI JOE Deep Six and Rock & Roll two pack as well as a NECA Predator 2 City Hunter Predator.(he was the voice of the monster after Peter Cullen did the voice for the Predator in the first movie).
View attachment 30305113
Glad to have Arthur Burghardt finish off the G1 Constructicons reissue set! He of course was the voice of Devastator! Previously signed by Neil Ross (Bonecrusher and Hook), Gregg Berger (Long Haul), Michael Bell (Scrapper) and Mixmaster (Frank Welker) from other shows. They were all guests this year – you could have gotten nearly all of the team over the weekend!
View attachment 30305116
I forgot to bring the "A Hero is Born" set of Orion Pax and Alpha Trion last year for Laurie Faso to sign so it was great he came back this year!
View attachment 30305119
Beau Weaver the voice of Octane made it to his first ever convention this past weekend! He said he didn't know about the TF fandom and was amazed to learn about it!
View attachment 30305120
Joe Leahy was another first time attendee. A very nice guy! He signed the Power of the Primes Predacons set for voicing g1 Razorclaw. Previously signed by Laurie Faso who voiced Divebomb and Rampage.
View attachment 30305121
Got G1 writer Michael Charles Hill's autographed copy of the dialogue script for the episode "The Gambler". I wished I had gotten another Legacy Devcon (since he created the character) for him to sign but opened my only one.

On Sunday got to meet Frank Welker again! So awesome seeing him! He signed a retro g1 Soundwave for me this time
View attachment 30305127
Mr Welker also signed Studio Series 86 Rumble and Wheelie. I didn't have the budget to also get SS86 Frenzy signed, next time! I told him how much I liked his street punk voices for Rumble and Skywarp and he gave me a great Rumble line which made my day!
View attachment 30305128
My one toy haul was an E-Hobby cartoon colored Galvatron which the dealer gave me a deal on. In beautiful shape, electronics still work (he speaks Japanese!)

Side by side with retro Soundwave – not the one I got signed by Frank Welker

This anniversary notwithstanding, TFCon isn't a convention I typically see as having a "focus" beyond Transformers themselves.
Ctrl_Z
He's from the Transformers Q series.
We found a couple last year, so tried to find some more this year. But seems like they've gotten more expensive since then, so only picked up the one.
Yellow Shirted Kid
Well, with such a big focus on g1 this year, what do you guys think next years focus will be? Any particular thing?
galvatran
How about the big 5-0 anniversary? Or is that getting on for some of the old timers.
Sure but nothing pulls the heart strings of 40s & 50s year olds like G1 does.
What is that Ironhide?
Thanks again for sharing. Always appreciate the write up.

Day Two! I agree with the sentiment that TFCon is to big for this space. It's absolutely packed, and all tickets for the weekend were sold out as of Friday.
I had some drinks with Flint last night, but there were some other people present and I didn't really get to talk with him too much. All of us were supposed to meet at his table at 10:30 to play test his new card game Captain Trademark, but he has yet to appear.
I stopped by Paul Eiding's table and had him sign my movie edition Perceptor reissue box. He commented on how great the artwork was. This was my 3rd time meeting him and he recognized me. I asked why he got cast as Perceptor, since Perceptor has a light airy voice in the upper register and Paul does not. He said that around that time he was getting offers for lighter voiced characters often and that perception of him prevented the GI Joe cartoon from calling him in for an audition. Again, being a musician, I asked Paul about him having earned a music degree. He used to play bass in an army band. He was also one of the singing aliens in Carnage in C Minor. Regarding that episodes reputation, he commented that some of the episodes were indeed clunkers and he's aware of how fans feel about that one. He's one of the singing aliens in that episodes, I told him it was pretty obvious which one as well. He wished me safe travels back home as I mentioned that I drove in from Denver. I was supposed to arrive by train, but it got cancelled the day before we were supposed to leave due to bad snow in the Rockies and also in California's mountains.
I stopped by Hal Rayle's table again to ask him a question I forgot yesterday, does he consider Shrapnel to be the leader of the Insecticons. He said somewhat…but mostly they were a one-for-all group and Shrapnel was just the one psychotic enough to bark out orders to the others based on his personality, not because of any established position.
At this point, I was dead tired again. Didn't sleep too well the past few nights, this always happens to me when I travel to low elevation cities. I went back to my room and had a nap before lunch. I then went back to the dealer room and convinced Chosen Prime to sell me Fans Toys Hoodlum for $50 off their asking price. I then went to the YouTubers panel for a bit, but I had a 3pm Frank Welker autograph to get so I couldn't stay for the entire panel. I just wanted to see the reaction Jobby got from the crowd, and it was by far the biggest cheer for the YouTubers.
Next was the line to meet Frank Welker. Insane length. I spent the time talking to some people who got into transformers with Beast Wars. I love the different perspectives on the topic. I may have recruited a few people to join this forum. The line was long but moving quickly, so when I got to Frank, there was little time to actually talk. I told him that as a kid, I knew his name as Dr Claw and thought this guy must be really dark and evil to do a voice like that, but then I learned he was also Fred in Scooby Doo and it killed that illusion. He commented that he was also Curious George.
And that is it. It's over now and I had a great time. Hopefully my posts here convey that. If you are on the fence about going to one of these and have never been, hopefully I've convinced you that you should. Never ignore the things you are interested in, you need to always indulge yourself in what makes you happy.
[edit] Just in case you may have been at the con and saw me, I was the 6' tall, thin blond guy in his 40s with a long sleeve button up shirt, a green bag and a laptop that I was using to do price comparisons.

Had a grand time at the Con yesterday. I love seeing everyone sitting around fiddling with their new toys. It's part of the fun for me.
And here's my full hu\aul from yesterday.
Wingman was way bigger than I thought he was going to be. Justified the price for sure.

Don't discount the draw of the other series. The fandom is always growing and evolving.

There will never be a TFCon with this many G1 guests again, so it's unlikely that there will ever be this many TFCon guests again.
Turbine027
I’m sure a lot of that is due to it being the 40th anniversary and the huge amount of guests. I wouldn’t expect the same turnout next year… but all conventions need to know ahead of time who the large lines are gonna be for and strategically place them
shamanking282
David Kaye’s line bisecting the dealer room all weekend is a problem.
CringeMcCringle
Yeahhhhh, it’s f*ckin packed
I don’t know how many times I’ve had to stand around waiting for people to move so I can move.
shamanking282
I will say I think this convention has grown too big for the Burbank Marriott. I hope that whenever the next TFCon LA happens they consider moving to Pasadena like the LA Botcons were at.
galvatran
Any official Hasbro toy announcements (to counter 3P)?

Having a blast so far at TFCon LA! I mostly got autographs today but did enjoy the “Transformers animated deleted scenes and characters” 5pm panel which was a fun peek at what we could have gotten in Transformers Animated.
