Skybound preps your February 2024 pull list with a sneak peek at cover artwork for Transformers issue #5.
In addition to the stunning main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer depicting the arm of the franchise’s most iconic antagonist, the stacked list of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #5 includes an open to order cover by James Stokoe (Wonton Soup), a 1:10 incentive variant that continues the connecting cover series by Orlando Arocena (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), a 1:25 incentive variant by Natacha Bustos (Spider-Woman), and a very special 1:50 incentive spoiler variant featuring a fan favorite character like you’ve never seen them before by Karl Kerschl (Adventures of Superman).
Sound off on the 2005 boards!

Baron Von Spooky
Honestly might have to pick this up, really loving everything in the Energon Universe so far.

Ahhh, so he's familiar with 3rd party huh…
I wonder if he frequents this board..
He mentions "ignoring" things? I thought that was a thing EVERY Artists does already
Downwash
Nice, been waiting on a TPB release for Void Rivals. I picked up the first issue and everything I've heard about the following issues, I know I'll enjoy them…but not as important as the actual Transformers series for me so a trade is the way to go.
Nova Maximus
Well he's not promoting them in any official capacity, and Hasbro designers aren't that bothered by 3rd party nowadays as they use to be. It's like how he's stated and shown off a bunch that stuff like MS-02 Optimus and NewAge Soundwave have him what he uses for references, he hasn't shown or said that stuff in any official marketing so then it seems to be fine.

Shattered Trousers
… wow… That's a sobering thought.

Well, there isn't exactly a Bruticus out right now, since Combiner Wars is going to be a decade old soon
Wild Bill
Yup, the wiki says alternators.
Shattered Trousers
It's definitely not a G1 Hound, but I would guess it's based on Alternators Hound.
The flip-over chest emblem, the style of the shoulders and the little pistol all say Alternators Hound to me.

Ravewind
That Hound was something else too.
Shattered Trousers
I was thinking the same thing.
I remember it being kind of an embarrassment when More Than Meets The Eye #18 had a variant cover prominently featuring iGear renditions of Gears and Huffer.
I don't always buy Transformers toys, but when I want a Transformer that looks like a real Transformer I buy Magic Square.

They also look way better on a shelf

Trades are also way easier to re-read later on.
Ramberk Magnus
Makes me wonder what their origin story will be in this continuity…
Wild Bill
The only reason to buy the individual issues is if you want to keep up with the series as it comes out. The single issues are $3.99 a pop, but you can buy the a TPB that collects 6 issues for $16.99. The pricing may change on the TPB's but right now, they are the most economical

I'm trade waiting on this series but absolutely loving the art. Will be my first proper transformers comics
Thundershot
I know he doesn’t work for Hasbro, but they’re still the owner of the license, and you’d think Hasbro would frown on him showing off ordering 3P figures for drawing his books…

I know invincible has various volumes/collections
Q Prime
Not terribly familiar with Skybound's way of doing things, but at Image for example they release a trade paperback not too long after an arc is finished. I bought Skybound's first issue, but I think I'll be holding off for the collected versions from here.
