I ordered my two Motormaster sets (they never seem to be in stock at the same time) as well as Ratchet and a couple cars I hadn’t gotten yet.
RangerXML
Still waiting on Shadowstriker, Ultra Magnus, Trashmaster and Detritus sets, also bots I don't have yet, Dreadwing, Bombshell and Frenzy sets. I was hoping they would release another set by Friday, but I ended up just ordering Bludgeon, SS86 Ratchet and Devcon.
Thundershot
The problem is Bombshell labels aren’t available yet. When I posted what you quoted there was NO discount. I did an order with 40% on everything else.
Currywurst
Gotta agree I don't see a new mold happening for Chop Shop. And honestly, I can see Shrapnel being a pretty good Chop Shop with a new head and the right paint apps.
I only hope Venom and Barrage will get more dedication than that. Cause they're gonna need it.
Rodimus Prime
The current 40% off too good for you?
goldenboy1on1
Sorry, pulse. All the same to me. Still mainline quality, mainline approach. Pulse – make it seem special when it's just the same as mainline.
Boople Barp
I would imagine these shared parts instances occupy a middle ground. They didn't reuse the parts for no reason. And while most of the parts may be new, in most cases they keep similar dimensions and the transformation scheme is usually similar.
Basically, I view retooling as kind of a sliding scale. It's a bit of a Ship of Theseus, but I think it ultimately isn't a classification problem. At the end of the day, guys like Devcon take advtantage of previous toolings and engineering in a way that is obvious when looking at what is the same between the two. Whether that is called retooling or not doesn't super matter, as it is just and extension of the same labor saving technique, whatever you want to call it.

Same. My main Kickback (and Shrapnel) also has toyhax. Waiting for them to put out Bombshell… and bring back the 30% off….
orangeitis
A hell of a good choice too. I love my "main" Kickback leading his drones.
Skreeonk
I'll stand with you in hoping we get one. I really like what Halloween looks like, but I talked myself into passing on him with the hope that he would get a repaint/new head. We'll see if that gamble pays off!
Ganon2099
I want a samurai skull Bludgeon. I passed on Halloween Tarn because it doesn't fit what I want in a collection
Neko-bot77
With small changes like an alternate head (and possibly the Bombshell only parts) the "new" parts are already included in the mold. They just instruct the people assembling the toy which head / parts to use and which parts to throw in the recycling bin.
And sometimes, like with legacy Ransack, they decide NOT to throw out the Kickback head, assemble and paint it, and give it to the customer.

After seeing the amount of remolding that some of the the Amazon IDW Pre-War toys got, I could see the remaining Deluxe Insecticons getting more than new heads & paintjobs.
Heck, I'm hoping Mayhem gives us a Marvel/G1 toy Bludgeon, with a new skull/samurai head.
Hoffman
They use the term 'partial', because a 'retool' doesn't really exist. They rarely, if ever, would actually take an existing mold and alter it to make a new mold. That is what a 'retool' would be. Rather, they may use an old tool to make parts for a new figure, along with a new mold for new parts.
Thundershot
I wouldn’t mind Runamuck in toy colors.
Tharlo21
I wouldn’t be opposed to getting some bots who were canonically not in the mayhem attack squad because I do love me some obscure cons. Tbh I really want hasbro to rerelease the battlechargers in the mayhem line, so they can counter the jumpstarters even though runamuck and runabout were never canonically mayhem members
Thundershot
Watch it be filled with random characters that were never in the Mayhem Attack Squad..
I can guarantee with 99.9% accuracy Chop Shop will NOT get a new mold. He’ll be Shrapnel with a new head, and if we’re lucky, new mandibles. If the heavens opened and shine light down upon him, we’ll get a new chest, but the angels aren’t on our side. I love the Deluxe Insecticons too, but I’ve accepted long ago that they’ll never be redone accurately. They’re too obscure and more importantly, Bandai owns the original IP and Hasbro wouldn’t dare to make them look too similar to those. So either take what we can get (and get some 3P upgrade parts like I did) or just buy the originals if you don’t have them already.
Vector Oracle
I wouldn’t count Devcon as a retool. A better example would be how Kingdom Red Alert is a retool of his Siege toy.
BlackHawkOmega
that is a surprisingly philosophical point
