DNA Design DK-47 Legacy Core Class Dinobots/Volcanicus Upgrade Kit Revealed

Via their Facebook page, third party company DNA Design have revealed their new DK-47 Legacy Core Class Dinobots/Volcanicus Upgrade Kit.

This kit contains several new parts for both each individual Core Dinobots and their combined form:

  • Replacement combiner arm + hand for Swoop
  • Combiner arm filler + hand for Skarr
  • Combiner swords (x2)
  • Combiner feet
  • Combiner crotch piece
  • Replacement Dino torso/wings for Grimlock
  • 6 guns (for Dinobots)
  • 6 swords (for Dinobots)

This kit is planned for release by January 2024. Check it out after the jump and let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

I understand the desire for DNA to include fixes for everything wrong with every individual Dinobot in this set, but at some point you realize that'd involve replacing so much of half the figures that they might as well just start over and release their own 3P Legends Dinobots. Making Volcanicus not crap is really enough of a goal for me.

That's basically what they did with Titan Scorponok.

I really want dna design to make new upper arms for core grimlock that have elbows, because god damn does he need them

After looking at this set again, I am awfully surprised they didn't offer new arms w/elbows for Grimlock.
Seems like the most basic of needed upgrade that got overlooked.

Silly.

There are lots of points for improvements:

  • Arms with elbows for Grimlock, Sludge, Slug and Scarr
  • Proper tail tips for Grimlock and Scarr (and maybe Sludge)

Grimolock Scarr and Sludge could easily get new arms. Slug not so much.

A new tail for Scarr that he can hold as a mace/flail/morning star would be nice since we're getting rid of the old fists. As well as the individual Swords and Guns.

It's cheaper and better. Except for the Grimlock head thing. Did they fix that?

They put this:
A fan raised a question about the left foot of Core Class Volcanicus, and we'd like to provide a simple explanation.

After combining into Volcanicus and installing the DNA design accessory pack, the left foot can still be transformed in the original official way (as shown in the upper-left image) or according to the fan-suggested transformation method (as shown in the lower-left image), or even using our own creative transformation method. In fact, there are many different ways to transform it. We hope that once fans receive the product, they can unleash their creativity and share various cool forms.

This honestly just makes it look like they’re copying 115 even more now

It's cheaper and better. Except for the Grimlock head thing. Did they fix that?

To be fair they were asked to add gap fillers and there’s not that many ways to do so.

But includes individual bots and combiner weapons, is mold injection and is cheaper

I really like this DNA upgrade kit, even more with the translucent swords, my only complaint is that it has only 3 styles of swords and guns, not even the original 5 weapons from G1. Sword we have Swoop, Grimlock and Slag. Guns we have Swoop, Snarl, the other one I dont recognize. The Matrix Workshop upgrade kits have distinct individual weapons, but is more expensive if you buy all the upgrades

Ok I get it was a nice touch to give everyone swords and gun but ain't most people are going to displayed them in combine?

Sure they can be store on the limbs well with the guns but they will hinder the articulation and the swords aren't store either!

Guess people will be ordering for the new limbs more than the weapons!

I have my POTP version for shelf presence. The entire reason that I got the core version was because they’re so easy to fiddle with. I enjoy them in individual modes just as much as combined, so for me the weapons are a real win.

Sure they can be store on the limbs well with the guns but they will hinder the articulation and the swords aren't store either!

Guess people will be ordering for the new limbs more than the weapons!

You might be able to leave it on like in the original configuration, but the one they use involves removing the dino head and storing it in the combiner foot, then switching the wings around

in the foot huh, thats weird

Is grimlocks dino head still attached in foot mode? I love the kit, already on preorder. I probably wont swap out the wings, but it will depend on what they actually look like in person. But man I wish it came with some filler pieces for all the hollows like the other two kits out there.

Is this just a kit that will be available in January? Five members of the Dinobots is not included?

Just the upgrade parts, the actual figures aren't included
