Newage Toys, via their Weibo and Facebook accounts, have shared images of the color prototype of their H49 Hammond (Legends Scale G1 Wheeljack).
This is a nice cartoon-accurate rendition of G1 Wheeljack for the Legends scale. He comes with his gun, Instant Immobilizer, Anti-Hypnosis device and the rich arm of H54 Frankenstein, Legends scale Autobot X Build-A-Figure.
See all the mirrored images after the jump and then sound off on the 2005 Boards!

I just noticed that this cannon configuration was possible. Doesn't equate to articulation, but it's a step towards it.

Mine also arrived today. It took all of 3 minutes for me to be totally won over. Love this little guy. He looks better in hand imo

Thanks dude. I stopped using those a while ago – I think I deleted my fb, but my ig is still out there. I just never updated the graphics in my signature. Everything's just on Flickr and the forum now.

Nice. What happened to you IG/FB pages?

The Bot from A.U.T.O.
I enjoy him. His articulation joints have a good tightness to them, but that unfortunately means they are tighter than some of the transformation joints. It'd be lovely if the waist's transformation joint tabbed in place.

Spongebob Squarejack's arrived and… I like it more than I thought.
Sure it's another tiny NA carbot – which means major compromises in bot mode overall – but at least it falls more on the Datsun Bros side of the spectrum, rather than the Jazz/Mirage/Hound one.

I personally love the figure too. Kiki fixed the loose joints, and I simply not using the shoulder cannon. The transformation for me was though, but, I think I will be okay with it once I go through more or two more rounds of it. He looks really great in both modes and pristine (great paint and that oh beautiful blue windshield, oh it’s really beautiful) and has most articulation one could want except the ab crunch.

I feel you. I got shipping notice on that new Metroplex six days ago but it still just says "order processed by shipper."

I feel ya. My Wheeljack had sat at customs for over a week before it moved.

My WheelJack and BlastOff shipping info has been stuck on “Transport Departed” since 11/19. Six days and no new update.
Gimme my TOYS!

I don’t display any of my figures, so the handling integrity is important to me. We’ll see…

That’s encouraging! Glad to hear you’re happy with it!

I’m sure this will shock you, coming from me (a guy who complains more about complaining and whining than he ever has about the figures) but I got my copy in today and I think this figure is fucking great. My copy is great. I have nothing to complain about and the transformation is fun. If a positive review from the minority opinion encourages you at all.

i put some kiki loose joint liquid on the loose joints, and he is tight now.
I personally think he is really worth it, he looks really good and cute in all my shelves pretty much, but your miles may vary. Colours are very beautiful for the figure itself.
For me, the downer is the shoulder cannon not having upwards rotation to point up at an angle and the fact it is not same color as the gun. Thus, not currently using it on display shelf, really because of the 1st reason.

If you want to pose and put your figure in a diorama I think you'll be fine. Even if you play with it it's mostly a case of pushing the back back in every so often but it does hold. However like others I agree that it would have benefited greatly from being able to tab in.

He's small but fun! Check out my review!

I received mine a few days ago, I’m really not impressed. The biggest shocker for me—which I must have missed in all the discussion/videos—is that the forward/backward leg articulation becomes competently locked if you rotate the waist at all. People criticized the gap between Hound’s waist and abdomen, but it clearly served a purpose comparing it to Wheeljack. I think if Newage continues to use this style of hip joint, they should add drop-down sliders so you can get enough clearance without breaking the sculpt.
Other issues I have (which were apparent from the beginning but still nag at me):
I hope Newage learns a lesson from this figure and takes more care with engineering/details in the future.

The criticisms about “fiddliness” and lack of solidity have me a bit wary, but I guess it’s not enough to stall my purchase. I’ll just have to wait until the EX version is available before I can make my own assessment.
As to the size, though— I’m actually glad this figure has a shorter stature, because the Stratos is a very small car. It is in fact over a foot shorter than a VW Type 1 Beetle, meaning that realistically, Wheeljack— whose transformation design is fundamentally similar to Bumblebee’s— should be shorter than the yellow minibot, if the two had originated from the same toy product lines. So, Wheeljack in my mind should be short and squat. I understand why toon enthusiasts want it to be otherwise, but while the animation artists did not need to respect physics, the toy designers do.

Got my copy in today and have been fiddling with him a bit. I won't lie, I'm not that hot on him, he's got a really fiddly transformation. He cuts a very nice figure in robot mode for what it's worth though, and him not just coming with his shoulder launcher and pistol is nice, I'm happy he's got a toolbox and The Immobilizer.
There's been plenty of photos of the figure, but here's one specifically comparing him with Iron Factory's Wheeljack (Exhaust version here). NewAge has a reputation for their Autobot Cars being a decent bit smaller than the offerings from other companies, but you can really tell in this case:
