We have something quite special to share with you this Sunday. YouTube user 87render, who got the attention of the fans thanks to his impressive “Starscream OVA” fan-animation video, has just treated us with another great piece of animation for our viewing pleasure.
“Arcee: Dreams Of Daicon” tells a very original and fun story, beautifully animated and with a great soundtrack. Old school anime fans will sure catch the references to Daicon short animation and other classic anime. Not much left to say, so watch the video below and then click on the discussion link to share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

seems to be more like a behind the scenes video they are working on right now. And this part is like a video game. Wish it was another animation already though

Making a new one?

HAHAHA! Great work! I was planning to do some pics like this but I was going to try the NECA Hover Board. Not too sure it might be a bit small but the SS86 Arcee is shorter than the Marty figure so I was hoping it would look okay.

Awesome stuff. So glad you didn't attempt to make Arcee "sexy" like so many Takara designs of her lately.

I died at Starscream just strolling around as a ghost. Love this guy\'s stuff and all the little anime stuff they incorporate into it.

Well, he was discontinued. There were probably still some unsold copies on the shelves, but Hasbro clearly considered him old news and were unwilling to invest screentime in him.

I thought the same.

Was the guitar shot a nod to FLCL?
Crobot91
Definitely well done.
Would love to see more episodes exploring the artist's vision of what happened between season 2 and the movie. Or doing the deleted scenes from the movie, like Ultra Magnus, Tracks, Sideswipe, and Red Alert versus Devastator.

This is excellent. I just don’t understand why this kind of style and level of talent isn’t already the case with Transformers given the franchise’s anime history and significance. It wouldn’t even have to be based on the G1 characters we know (80’s fans originally cringed at Beast Wars given how different it was, now it’s considered nearly foundational to the franchise), create something new, just make it look like this please.

Shockwave wasn’t on shelves in 1986?
Murasame
Awesome
I imagine him going "Oh, the mighty Police officer has tripped? I declare myself the new leader of the Police! Ow, stop hitting me for fucks sake, that hurts."
Requiem Prime
I loved this, one thing G1 did better than any other show was portray characters having downtime.

yes . it is

I agree 100% with the idea that we NEED a G1 based Series with this style and quality of animation.
These shorts are sooo much better than any of the Netflix Series.

HASBRO PLEASE GIVE THIS DUDE A JOB

Yeah, the Sunbow archives have the early script from Flint Dille. All Blitzwing scenes were supposed to be Shockwave, and there's literally a note from a Hasbro exec written on the script that says "this toy is discontinued, please use one that is still on the shelves".
It was really cool because it emphasized his age as an explanation of why he looks different and doesn't have a face. He was so old, he remembered the Quintesson occupation of Cybertron, that's why he knew they were bad news.
But yeah, they listened to Hasbro and changed it to Blitzwing. Then for "Starscream 's Ghost" they wanted to use Blitzwing again as a follow-up, and they literally got the same note again, so they changed it into Octane. I always questioned why Octane was suddenly friendly with the Autobots… until that behind the scenes tidbit became clear : )
I believe there's a YouTube video about Chris Latta and his characters. Apparently Sparkplug not returning and Wheeljack dying were very last minute decisions that were not or hardly in the script because they decided they wanted to kill all Chris' characters so they didn't have to hire him again (or bail him out). Not sure if this is true though. Pretty sure that what happened to his other character, Starscream, was very much planned way in advance.
Love those stories about him, btw. The one about the school principal had me laughing out loud : D
