I'm gonna get a little political.
That's a hatchback, not a trunk.

In the midwest we have a chain of sores called "Vintage Stock" they sell used video games, movies and other collectibles (including the odd transformer), people sometimes unload their comic book collections off at the store for a quick buck, and unless it's Spider ma, Batman, Avengers or a "#1" it usually goes into the dollar bin. Then during holidays they usually have a BOGO sale so I get them essentially for 50 cents each. Mostly stuff from the 90's so kids aren't going to be reselling them anytime soon, but most are happy to get something tangible other than candy corn or a fun sized snickers

Some shops will have dollar bins of old back issues that aren't of much value to collectors but would be great for kids. Kinda like the shops that put bulk trading cards in a box and sell them by the dozen for a buck.

Honestly a bit weak. I have no problem with Trunk or Treat (we prefer it) but this set is just lazy. I don’t like that 2014-era font either, G1/G2 or RID-AEC font or bust

how do you get comics that cheap? i haven't gotten a comic for less than $3 a pop pretty much ever. does the type of comics have something to do with it?

I didn't understand what the title meant at first, but yeah. That's neat.

lol thank you, not too difficult as I usually only have about 40 kids show up (and I get comics for 50 cents to a dollar), Keep hoping word gets around, but it's been steady turnout level the last few years

Somehow that old urban legend keeps being brought up even if it's not even true. The only "poisoned candy" stories I know that are true are basically parents poisoning their own children (ie the O'Bryan case) for insurance reasons or trying to cover up for drug processing relatives. Nowadays they're talking about random strangers giving away edibles and drugs rather than razors in apples or laxatives in candy bars. I'm not too surprised that these stories are being recycled, I'm still a little surprised they're not talking about witches and Satanists sacrificing kids on Halloween in graveyards or some bs from those Satanic Panic video tapes back in the 90s.
Those megachurch trunk or treat people seem like the kind of people who would drop a Chick Tract into your trick or treat bag.

That’s awesome of you to do that!
I lived WAY the hell out in the country for my whole childhood. Mom loved driving us into town for trick or treating so I always assumed everyone who didn’t live in a city just drove somewhere to trick or treat. I live in a city now and we just have to step out the front door and we’re in the thick of it. Trick or treating is thankfully still pretty robust in my neighborhood and its our favorite holiday of the year.
Last year to humor my mom we went with her and our kids to a trunk or treat thing in the parking lot of a megachurch. It was honestly kind of unsettling, but not in a fun Halloween sort of way. A LOT of people telling boogeyman stories about people putting pot edibles in kid’s bags that go door to door and dumb stuff like that. It reminded me of the equally dumb razor blade talk in the 80’s. My kids hated it because they wanted candy and not conversation. We hated it because we wanted fun scary and not fear-mongering scary.
