September 6, 2023 — Bobby Abley collaborates with the TRANSFORMERS franchise from Hasbro, a leading toy and game company, to halo the launch of TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS, bringing the brand to life through the British designer’s unique vision and sense of wit. Founded on Bobby Abley’s fascination with cartoons and nostalgia, this collaboration re-imagines TRANSFORMERS’ iconic visual identity into playful contemporary prints and silhouettes evoking the thrill and adventure of the franchise and its four decades of heritage at the forefront of global pop-culture.
Bobby Abley says: “I’m excited to share my capsule collection in collaboration with TRANSFORMERS – having loved the franchise from a young age, it’s been really fun to create my own visuals inspired by the famous ‘more than meets the eye’ slogan and putting my own twist on a classic toile du jour with TRANSFORMERS robots hiding out amongst landmarks from some of my favourite cities, and pop art print inspired by pop-art, comic books, and Saturday morning cartoons.”
The range will be available online at bobbyabley.co.uk in the coming weeks. Aligned with Bobby Abley’s long-time commitment to equality, a limited-edition Pride tee launched for London Pride in July. The Bobby Abley x TRANSFORMERS range includes signature elevated sportwear, jersey essentials, and tailoring in fabrications from embroidery and quilting to knitwear. Bobby Abley has created a series of bespoke TRANSFORMERS-inspired prints including a TRANSFORMERS-toile du jour and comic book inspired pop-art, alongside graphic placements underpinning the collection as a whole.
Marianne James, Vice President, EMEA and Asia, Licensed Consumer Products at Hasbro says: “The new TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS film takes audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure filled with spectacle and thrill. Bobby Abley’s collection perfectly captures this spirit and celebrates the characters and storylines that have captivated moviegoers around the world for over 15 years.”

I've kind of moved on from Transformers except like 3-4 figures a year at best, and most of my money these days is on sneakers and more niche Japanese/Chinese toys like sofubi figures. Those two things both intersect more into street fashion, street art etc.

I find it weirdly interesting reading that quote from someone who has been a TFW2005 member since 2002. I mean, seems rarer than a unicorn.

These are, as someone else said, very "fashion world". I can see the intent behind most of them (except the Optimus pants) but they are styled, accessorised and photographed terribly. The model looks uncomfortable and bored, when, to pull these types of looks of you need to EXUDE confidence and that whole IDGAF attitude that comes with it. I can definitely see some of these fits being rocked hard in say Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, matched with an equally cocksure pair of high end sneakers and accessories. The jackets especially…
Theres an influencer I follow that models super, super expensive high end fashion items and manages to make almost everything look good, because he has that confident air to do so. When RotB hit, he did a quick video showing "high end fits inspired by Transformers" showing what can be done.

That's what I thought.

The insignia peaking from the pocket is understated, the rubsign is invisibleunless you rub it.
lord ginrai
It’s considered extremely fashionable in Asia. South Korea’s fault.
Murasame
That's so distracting that they are wearing sandals. With socks even. And even white ones. WTF
John TheDestroyer
This sounds kinda ridiculous though. Blue jeans with red pockets? Autobot symbol belt buckle with a rub sign? If you're gonna wear Transformers merch, you're gonna have to accept that you'll look like a dork. Might as well lean all in and wear a big Autobot symbol and be proud of your nerdiness, rather than coming off as someone just wearing weirdly colored clothes and pretending like you don't stand out
God Orion
I actually like that one a lot but I would never dare wearing it.

A literal nobody and we all should NOT care
ThePrime84
Only the merch part. Idrc about CHUG anymore and it's not Sunbow anyway (a discussion for another thread).
Notomus
Is it insulting sunbow if I say that G1 has overstayed it's welcome in CHUG and we'd be better off not getting G1 merch anymore?
If so, I have my transforming Bay Prime nerf blaster on standby for this very showdown.
There D Hood
You're all too harsh. These are just the 3D renders. I'll wait for the PVP review.
Omegax80
Who is this guy and why do I care?
TCJJ
Should have been a Bobby Skullface collaboration instead.
At least he would have designed pyjamas that your entire neighbourhood won't beat you up for wearing.
W-P38
This ridiculous thread has made my day.
Neo-Primus
People get paid to design this crap?
MehWave
The insignia outfit is straight up . The Optimus sweater is pretty good too.
If these weren't obscenely expensive and more accessible to the public, I'd rock the hell out of them.
Calabask
I’m aware. I meant in regards to the tops.
