I think if they made him a tank that could hide away the treads inside somehow and 1for1 his G1 body I think that would be best with the restrictions. Voyager-sized leader treatment could get us there lol

I could easily see an 86 Megatron happening as a tank with a reasonably accurate robot mode, and an accessory of his gun mode that can be held by other figures. Anyone insisting that Hasbro can't do it because it just has to be a gun (and gun only) for screen accuracy are fucking delusional. There's not some cosmic law of the universe guiding what they're allowed to release in this line. I think the abundance of Siege/ER derivative Megatron figures already out there is a far bigger barrier for them than whether they can do him as a tank.

There's no need to call people delusional. The entire point of Studio Series is allegedly to be screen accurate. Making Megatron a tank (which is something I am 100% for) would make more sense in a branch of Studio Series representing media where he actually turned into a tank, like in Devastation or the Prime Wars Trilogy, not in Studio Series 86.

Yeah it will never happen. I get the thinking that Takara will make a 86 or CHUG G1 gun Megatron today but he's such a iconic character and that version especially that Hasbro's gonna want in on selling a 86 Megatron that I don't see it happening.

I prefer a tank over a gun but for SS86 I would be fine with a G1 looking non transforming Megatron that comes with a gun mode accessory

If they did a non-transforming megatron in SS I am pretty sure some nut jobs on this site would burn down Hasbro HQ

For me devastation is just a buch of Cell shaded repaints with wfc they are different designs

They're are changes there but they are cell shaded G1 designs. But still doesn't mean that's all SSGE Devastation would be or that there would be cell shading/repacks.

Why wouldn't they just do both? An 86 Megatron, and then a Devastation Megatron with a few deco changes and maaaybe some slight retooling. Could even through some different accessories in. Same for Prime.

Because it's not screen accurate to the 86 movie, which is what they claim is the purpose of Studio Series 86.
