I’m hoping for more from missing link like anyone else but I cannot for the life of me find what people saw that has led us to believe this will be a whole line.

Anyone have a link?

TakaraTomy themselves have referred to it as a new line and these figures to be the first entries in their promotional material. There will be more.

I'm curious which route they'll go. The Datsuns and Seekers would give them repaint and retool opportunities, so I think they might start to tackle those relatively early on. But, like you said, there are a number of molds that no longer exist and are going to have some pent up demand for ANY version of those toys.

There’s always the off chance that they go crazy and only do all the leaders, even though that seems very unlikely to me.

An articulated g1 Hot Rod and Rodimus would be pretty cool to see.

Really though, I mainly want the Diaclone molds updated for this line, I’m pretty happy with the playability of g1 after 1986 (still wouldn’t say no to updates though and would appreciate the ability to get pristine versions)

If it’s gotta be from 1984, I hope they stick with the autobot cars next.

really, though, I hope they go for the lost molds or molds that need minor improvements. Sunstreaker etc, or grimlock so that they can move the head forward

My prediction is a Seeker (probably Starscream) will be next due to the repaint factor
Next an Autobot car ~ maybe they take the opportunity to do Sunstreaker or Mirage who’ve never had a re-release? …or maybe Grimlock for the same reason…
Then Soundwave (Soundwave and seeker order maybe flips)

I’m really curious what sort of release timeframe these end up taking… 2 a year? Quarterly??

I'm pretty sure if they won't do Megatron, Soundwave will be next.
Soundwave with the cassettes released in duo packs would have just the right amount of proverbial bling to make a huge amount of fans happy and drown out the fans who would like a Missing Link Megatron.

I could see this being around Commander Class price, say $100.00 on the nose. If it's much above that, that's ridiculous. I get that they have to make the trailer, all of the accessories, the new joints, and Roller, but come on. This is an old mold being modified and they'll tweak it where necessary to make it work. (I'd recommend they remove the die-cast as it might be too heavy for the articulated points.)

If it really is somewhere near $150-180.00, that's much too much and I certainly hope y'all will vote with your wallet and *not* support it. Nothing I see here is worth that kind of money. Certainly not when the cab was $50.00 at Walmart (and I still call shenanigans on that one when a decade earlier they had him with a trailer and a talk box for $80ish.) and you can get a non-articulated KO for $45, shipped from Asia.

No, they have to really price this aggressively before this can work. I think they'll give us a reasonable price on Prime, but jack the price up on Megatron because he's a gun and all those laws and whatnot. (I hate to admit it, but I'll cave on Megatron, even if he's over $100.00 because you can't get a reissue or an original for that price. Nor is there a KO (which is astounding to me…), so this would be the most affordable option. I hope Takara-Tomy wouldn't screw us on that one just because they could.

Optional sticker that comes with the toy. You can leave it or add this one or a few other ones. one of which is from the original artwork used on the boxes in '84.

Oh, I see. TFWiki does say the first US Transformers Optimus Prime release did have a silver Roller.

Yup, my 84 Prime had a silver Roller, blue Roller was a surprise to me during the reissues.

@lord ginrai you’re right, that trailer color is disappointing. Maybe somehow a consequence of it being a new mold? That wouldn’t make sense though. Very odd. Oh well, at least I still have New Year Convoy and his correct color trailer.

I’m hoping it’s just because of the harsh lighting, as it looked fine in the Figure King article where they compared it to the original figure.

Sorry, where did you ever get the idea that the inside of the trailer might be coloured by tampographs? Or that it would change from the previous pictures, where is was clear that they were stickers?

Was speaking more towards the exterior of the trailer haha. Was hoping it was more akin to MP-10’s , but at least the robot is indeed fully painted
