Just double checked, you're right. Didn't think my Optimus had one but it does
lord ginrai
Yup, C-01 Roller also has a hex port.
40th anniversary Retro as well, so that’s how it must be in the new cad files that HasTak created for their database.

To be honest I'm 99 percent sure the original has a Hex port. Anyone got a pic??

I can't get to my C-01 at the moment, but I can confirm my ML Sentinel C-01S does indeed have the hex shaped port.
For that matter, so does the Hasbro 40th Retro Roller, but that's not using the Missing Link mould and doesn't rotate at the back.

Wonder with the paint on it, if the hole was too tight. Changing it to a hex would probably lessen the stress enough for something to not get stuck where it would break
Dinobot Snarl
That's a strange change….
Throway
I think the tolerances are better. The hips are less tight so they don't feel fragile. My big issue is the paint is so thick on the metal window chest piece that it clearly scratches it along the forearms in truck mode.
lord ginrai
Sorry, it’s missing.

Roller has a hex port on top now instead of a circular port
Dinobot Snarl
Ohhh need a link on that one…
Wh33ls
Oh? What are the people saying?
Slender102
People who got the Sentinel repaint noticed it has some differences. Mainly tolerances and a few things on Roller. I kind of wish I didn’t read about that as I’m thinking of getting the rerelease.

i saw a preorder on showz
Dark_Devastator
Is there a new amazon preorder as well?
Sam
Yes it sold so well it had a reissue announced pretty fast after release
JasonTFW2005
Why is C-01 up for pre-order again on Pulse? Reissued already?
Sam
Too true. You’d have to have a gap between the bumper and grill to avoid those scratches, and that would detract too much from the “G1 recreation” goal
Throway
Not to mention the parts are chrome. Imagine the scratches
Sam
There’s no actual place for the bumper to attach to so it could have been a stability issue there, and also a cost saving issue of having the bumper and grill being one part (cheaper to make, cheaper to chrome). Kobayashi might genuinely have preferred how it looks when the bumper and grill move in unison. Also notice how the sharp edge of the grill overhanging the bumper becomes an issue when turning the waist far enough (safety and aesthetics). Plenty of reasons why they went with what they went with.
