Thanks to 2005 Boards members Ratchet2007, payres and minicon_madnes on Instagram we have our first in-hands images of the new Transformers Shattered Glass Collection Sideswipe & Minicon Whisper.
Sideswipe is an extensive retool of Kingdom Deluxe Class Sideswipe with a new hood and head plus his Minicon partner Whisper. This is a new Minicon mold with improved poseability compared to the original figure.

SG Unicron
How'd you pull that off?

I cannot wait until I get this guy in Armada Wheeljack colors!

That's why I see Multipacks as a possibility, and when I say released "singly" at Core I should perhaps have stated that I was also envisioning something like SS86 Rumble, where he would come with extra accessories/weapons to fill the pricepoint.

They can be gated but hasbro doesn’t use that technique because it’s more expensive. In the past minicons have been separated (as in not gated but assembled normally then put in different packs to where they originally belonged) but that was a complex process from what I remember of the Aaron archer podcast I listened to. Hes also not nearly as complex as jolt, it’s as complex and as painted as a siege micromaster so there’s no way they could release it as core since even the small cores have been more complex than siege Micromasters and have included extra accessories of which whisper has none.
I’m guessing the weird missile peg is on the same sprue as the lower legs and shoulders it might be a case of genuine retool where the physical mould has been altered, or they’ve made new moulds to avoid degradation and included this change . On a slight tangent, Some people have been saying the altered peg is weaker but it’s been more than sturdy on both my toxitron sideswipe and sg sideswipe View attachment 30036459

I think it's possible they may separate them, and Whisper could end up as a Core single release, or possibly some kind of Multipack of Minicons at a higher priceband.
After all they may be gangmoulded but we know moulds can be 'gated' to omit parts and/or have different component configurations in the same mould.
What intrigues me is that Toxitron capsule G2 Sideswipe has the same altered shoulder launcher missile with a shirt 5mm nubbin and extended 3mm pole as SG 'Swipe here, very curious!

I'm pretty sure they’d just use the same graphics again for the instructions since it doesn’t really make sense for them to have drawn up two different sets of instructions for what would be a very minor change, it also makes for an easier conversion with less steps if you don’t flip the blades(?) around.
Although I can totally see the evofusion graphic with wheeljacks minicon being pegged into the roof on a regular legacy box.
then again, I don’t think they’d sell armada wheeljack as a regular legacy release. The extra minicon means wheeljack probably doesn’t fit into the normal deluxe budget and I don’t think it bumps it up to voyager either so it might make more sense for it to be released in another subline or GS. Whisper also seems to be gangmoulded with sg sideswipes new parts so it’s unlikely they’d be separated to individual releases

Maybe they're saving the "correct" orientation for Attack Mode for the Armada Wheeljack release, like how Twincast's "Evo Fusion" was the rifle aerial attachment because they used "deploying a small dude" feature as Legacy PR Blaster's?

that’s odd, I feel Rodimus is easily the best of the set. The new deco is stunning in hand, especially comparing it to 86 since it doesn’t have the odd yellow joint breaking up the colours and the car kibble blends in better to the back of the lower legs. A solid 9 or 10 out of 10 imo but I know people have issues with the shoulders.
I know another complaint with Rodimus was that he wasn’t worth the voyager price too but given that this set was £55 and nowadays deluxes are £24 (rrp) and voyagers are £38 (rrp) plus whisper who’s roughly equivalent to a siege Micromaster (let’s say £5) the set could have been sold at around £67. And if you counted it Rodimus a deluxe (24 + 24 + 5) you come to £53 which is a couple pounds under what the set sells for.
though each to their own. Either way I’m sure you’d have an easy time selling sg Rodimus on

I checked in the instructions a couple of days ago and they DO point out the attack mode gimmick but weirdly in the instructions version of it, what would be the missile tips are still pointed backwards like in regular alt mode. I’m glad that it’s an official mode regardless though and it’s a great use of pre-existing engineering with some new tooling

I like the Sideswipe retool; I'm not buying SG Rodimus to get it.
Single pack or bust.

FINALLY!
I've been itching to find out if this was the "proper" Attack Mode after spotting the potential 3mm posts on the bottom of the baton handles in prior pics – THANK YOU for scratching the itch in my brain!

So when's someone going to do a Photoshop of this figure in Armada Wheeljack show colors?
Robogeek28
Must be something going on here then.
Weird.
Didn't do it to me just now, so fingers crossed it stays that way.

If they really do some deep diving into G2 I’d love to see the Axelerators and Laser Rod figures get some love.
We did get G2 Megatron as a GS figure, I wonder if we will see a G2 redeco of WFC Optimus with a Black Trailer and what not.
Tetratron
Something like this has been happening to me every time I try to go on the General Forum, says it's "checking to see if my connection is secure"
johnny48
Has anyone else seen the inside of Sideswipes rocket. The 3mm post is massive and it looks hideous.
Robogeek28
Maybe it's the same thing that's making a page appear saying TFW2005 isn't secure every once in awhile today when I try to come here.
Twenty years on here, and other than today, I've never seen that happen before.
