Coming to us via eBay, we have our first in-hand images of the new Transformers x Jurassic Park Collaborative Autobot JP12.
Autobot JP12 is based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara staff vehicle from the scene where Dennis Nedry has an unfortunate run-in with a Dilophosaurus.
Autobot JP12 comes in a 2-pack with the Decepticon Dilophocon. It’s an Amazon exclusive pack which you can still pre-order on the link below. It’s scheduled for release in October 1st, 2023.

That's fair, however once the chaos begins the Autobots wouldn't be on the side of the guys eating the humans.
So you write it as Decepticons invading the park (let's say so Shockwave can aquire the dna and cloning tech) and the Autobots are basically trying to help the humans get out alive.

My interpretation of Jurassic Park has been that the park crew itself are antagonists of various shades. Dinosaurs don't need to necessarily exist at all but InGen in their ways wanted to play god. So you make an animal that shouldn't even be anymore solely for the purpose of exploitation. In my book this makes them antagonists of various shades. Nedry is absolutely guilty. He's the one who sabotages the park system and lets Isla Nublar go to Dino Hell in the first place!
I'd give Grant, Satler, and Malcom a pass as they weren't necessarily knowledgeable of what to expect in the park.

Him being nominally an Autobot sorta fits the movie though. He was there, he was part of the JP staff, but he was a turncoat in the end. I would absolutely put that in to JP12 in any headcannon.
It's possible, but it's a tight fit both ways.

So I was confused by the instructions. I think it is supposed to be possible to transform JP-12 into Jeep mode with his hat on. But I just don't see how that is possible. Am I the only one who read the instructions that way or is it actually possible?

Well, the Aveo is a case of Chevy commissioning a figure for their exclusive use as a limited promotion that wasn't even distributed by Hasbro nor Takara, so I don't count it. It didn't even have retail packaging of any sort AFAIK.
The Universal Studios Evac figure was clearly a commission piece for the ride's gift shop since that is the only place you can even get it. That deal is probably what lead to the other Universal collab figures.
As for the rest, the ones that are unique molds are: Maverick, JP93, JP12, Dilophocon, the 3 G.I. Joe figures, and possibly Code Red.
Every other figure is some degree of repaint, retool, or remold.
The G.I. Joe figures are Hasbro properties so there's nothing stopping them from being reused, but honestly these are G.I. Joe toys with transformation engineering added to them. I don't see how they would ever fit into a Transformers line.
So really its just 4 or maybe 5 figures. (Code Red seems to be a very heavy retool of Siege Ironhide.)
Yes, it's true none of these have been reused yet, but they are all fairly recent the oldest of which was released only 3 years ago.
I say it's far too early to tell whether or not they will get reused or to generalize about them.
Unlike Aveo Swerve and Universal Studio Evac which were commissioned for exclusive use by another company and were never part of the Crossover nor Collaborative sublines.
In contrast both the Xover and Collab figures are licensed from other companies for Hasbro's exclusive use as general retail releases.

So I'm someone who loved the first JPxTF crossover and I really love this one. Nedry as an Autob[ot is laughable however!

The internet is a wild place and I contributed to this comment…

I think it can be. Generally, these figures aren't reused ever again. None of these new mold crossovers have been reused for anything, have they? The Chevy Aveo was never reused. The Universal Studios movie ride figure was never reused. Have any of these kinds of figures ever been reused in any way?
Vanya
I'm just sayin' it isn't something that can or should be generalized.
It's very much a case by case thing.
C16
Obviously. But generally, those kinds of things aren't to be used again outside of the initial agreement made and product release.
I didn't know the Autobots were into snuff.
Vanya
That depends on the contract specifics and the attitudes of the people in the companies involved.
Nothing is assumed to be included in the deal.
That's what contracts are for.
EDIT:
And making an engine for someone in the video game industry is a bad example since it's actually more like Jeep hiring Hasbro to engineer a figure without specific vehicle tooling that Jeep would then be free to use in whatever project they like.
Assuming that Hasbro is licensing the vehicle likeness from Jeep and the Jurassic Park IP from Universal, then it's exactly like any video game company acting as a third party interested in making a Jurassic Park game based on the movies.
However, I imagine it's more likely that the Jeep Wrangler likeness is already included in the JP licensing as a separate, preestablished deal between Universal and Jeep.

I just think it'd make for a really cool looking Swindle design
Also alternators Swindle is a thing who does have a chest that looks like that
C16
How? The chest is nothing alike.
Why wouldn't they? When your design a game engine for someone in the gaming industry, you're not free to use that engine in your own projects. If you design a font for a company you're not free to use it yourself. Or a formula/recipe.
Hahli
With the knowledge that this is possible I can now safely say with 100% certainty that JP12 would make for an amazing looking Swindle

Dinobot Nuva
Designers from both Hasbro and TakTom have mentioned running into this before with vehicle licensors over the years, they can make or a break a design's engineering based on panel lines, how the vehicle breaks up during transformation, etc.
I'm sure if Jeep is down to clown on more Jeepformers they aren't gonna be stingy with the license though, JP borrows heavily from Alternators Hound so there's a handful of low-hanging partials there if they wanna get wild and weird with Binaltechy homages later on down the road – OR they just genericize the vehicle shell and use the same skeleton for some other character.
