I still remember his performance from Destiny, the man's not the best voice actor.
SPLIT LIP
Did we watch a different movie? He was either a complete monotone or a goofy, overdramatic generic villain voice the entire film.
Not that he had much to work with, but I don’t see what about Scourge’s voice was that great. It was completely uninspired and indistinct.
Magnum Dongus
I just liked how creepy he looked walking through those trees at the beginning and the horror audio cues that played at that part

Oh wait this is a sort of preview for the special features the digital release has.
Saul Goodman
Peter dinklage's performance in the opening scene was imo perfection.

They often used rough models of the robots in scenes in order for the voice actors to visualize the scenes. They then went in and animated the expressions and everything else for the final renders.
you can see this in some of the behind the scenes where they show the actors looking at unfinished scenes as they read the lines.
Isaac Staffeld
Usually voice acting comes before animation, so they can animate around the actor’s performance

This is probably one of the worst takes I've seen on this forum in a long time, his cadence was so condescending and full of life, especially compared to generic bad guy voice we've gotten from most of the villains in the movies. The modulation is a love it or hate it, but his performance was great.

I agree with this. I think my favorite line was "nobody will even remember this miserable planet", which was delivered with such a monotone that i think its hilarious, it almost sounds satirical.
Livingdeaddan
When Dinklage is reading it sounds like he's reading a fairy tale to his kids!

I wouldn't be surprised, the VFX process for the film sounds like it was a nightmare with MPC.

Scourge’s voice and performance was so generic I honestly forgot Peter Dinklage voiced him. I especially liked the part where Prime shoves his head into the grinder and he calls Unicron for reinforcements with a complete deadpan tone you’d have when ordering pizza. The whole character was phoned in but that scene stuck out to me in particular as neither he nor the director giving a shit.
I swear half the voice actors weren’t given visuals to base their performances on.

Scourge is one of those characters for me that is really held up by the performance. He’s not that good of a character, but I can’t deny Dinklage owns the role. Boi’s come a long way from Ghost
Chopperface
Yeah Scourge would’ve sounded great without most of his modulation, it’s Peter freaking Dinklage, which is also why it’s a shame the character was given so little depth in the Final Cut.
The one upside of hiring mostly celebrity actors for the characters means they’re willing to record behind the scenes footage for them. The 2007 film had some footage since it was a tiny cast; ROTF really only showed Cullen, Weaving, Reno Wilson and Tom Kenny; DOTM only really focused on Leonard Nimoy; AOE focused on Goodman and Watanabe. And Bumblebee actually had press for Shatter and Dropkick since they were voiced by Angela Bassett and Justin Theroux.
And to be fair, celebrity voice actors for major motion pictures has been around even before Aladdin and The Lion King, or even the 86 movie. Fox and the Hound had Kurt Russell and Mickey Rooney as adult Todd and Copper after all, and even further back, Ichabod and Mr. Toad was narrated by Bing Crosby for Sleepy Hollow.

Lorenzo be Lorenzo-ing about continuity.
I dig Scourge’s voice in the film but I also can’t disagree with those that it would have worked if they did modulate his voice as much as they did. Banger quotes tho either way.
Will never not just love the opening shots of Scourge in the forest.

Or at least promoted them properly. There have been big names voicing these robots a time or two and no one's even aware of it until after the fact. The commercials and trailers don't show this.
Remember a time when the voices were a selling point for a movie? In some cases, they still are. Shows the cast isn't important, the material isn't important, the film isn't important. It's shit all the way around.
Confused Millennial
Peter is the biggest star actor in the movie, right? Maybe it would’ve done better at the box office if they’d had more live-action star power as opposed to having the Petes and Michelle Yeoh be solely voices.
