AI does need restrictions of some sort, but I don't see it happening in the immediate future. I just really worry about it being used ads, or other media to push falsehoods that look legit.
I really hope the strike starts things rolling, and kind of wish every aspect of Hollywood went on strike as well. The more the pressure that's put to bear, the faster the situation will be resolved.
Aaron
I see AI as a tool, and how that tool gets used is important. There have been plenty of examples out there now of things like ChatGPT being shown as more hallucinatory than intelligent and only people that don't know that they don't know are using it as a resource. For places where it's being used for art it's trickier for sure. For animation at least there's a lot of other steps that require talent and skill to get a usable product, plus computers have been a part of the animation process for a while drawing the inbetweens. The tech is getting there where for still images it's harder and harder to discern AI artists from human artists, and that is concerning to me.
OVERALL though, at a certain point you can't unring a bell and how you go forward afterwards more sets the tone. I'm 110% for the WGA strike including keeping AI out of the writing process. I feel like using AI in professional artwork should get mentioned along the way. Things like Secret Invasion's AI credits actually work VERY well for the unease and uncanny valley image shifting that's going on with it, especially how that works thematically for the show. PLUS the show runner's been up front about "Yeah, and we hired animators to get that look."

man, hearing aaron bring up that corrider AI thing positively kinda didn't hit great. I know that for people not in the trenches it's just a funny video but…eugh

i started laughing to myself after Chris said you had to have wheels on the ground in response to your orbital station idea because all i could think off was the orbital station with one of those delivery truck personal dollys duck tape to the bottom of it with its wheels catching fire from the friction
Korito
i did the same with the Alphamon one and pulled out a whole Dorumon

The SMP line used to be wildly inconsistent. The most disappointed that line ever made me was Xabungle. I've never seen the show, but I used to have one of the small transforming ones as a kid. So I got loads of nostalgia for it. One of the first SMP kits was Xabungle, and it's also the worst kit. Xabungle has a pretty basic transformation, but the kit part swaps and cheats so much stuff, it can barely be called a transformation. Moderoid did their own version last year, and it's vastly superior.
I will give them credit though. The SMP line has been constantly improving. Every single Sentai kit after Zyuranger has been a hit. While the Brave kits still have parts swapping for animation accuracy, it's now optional. All the kits can be simply transformed into "toy mode" and then have parts swapped out for "animation mode." This also includes the super combined modes. Here's a side by side of Great Might Gaine's configurations.

Fuck.

I can't believe you didn't pick G1 Crosshairs for the Speedia 500 turtle thing, since due to Siege, he is legally an Ironhide, and due to the TCG, he is legally a tank.
Also the Transformers vTuber would be BWII Artemis and Moon.

Oh. I had a listener question in here. I forgot I wrote that. Awesome! Thanks for reading that! Great answers! And I started watching Victory so I know ABOUT Liokaiser but I didn't realize the toys did so much!

Chris mentioned Galaxy Shuttle for the Velocitron race and I suddenly remembered the only Tobot episode I ever watched where they had a contest between the good guy cars and the bad guy cars and at the end it\'s a strength test so the good guys bring in Metron who is a straight up TRAIN. So can we enter the bullet trains from RID 2001? And maybe get some new tooooooyyyyyyyysssssss hmmmmmmmm?
Aaron
Renidragon specifically said "Have fun with it." So I did. If you don't have the same fun as I do, that's okay. But I won't come to your podcast and call you names.
Vangelus
Hi please tone it down, nobody in the podcast subforum has the energy for this, let's all have some burgamot and be friends instead

An Army of Bees
I don't freely want to discuss my personal life, but editing the podcast has very much been put on the backburner due to something infinitely more important taking place and the hosts have been very helpful and understanding during the last few months. The only episode not currently edited is the one recorded on 6/22, and it's about halfway done.
They're having fun with a very loose and casual listener question. It's not that deep, bud. No need to dig more into it. Relaaaaaaaaax.
kaotika
yes its really rude to take a fun question that has lots of interesting options and answer it like a ponytailed simpsons character.
like wishing for more wishes its deliberately undermining and derailing it.
people who do this know what theyre doing and we know they know what theyre doing.
Triceradon
Wow, rude.
kaotika
are these really coming out 1/3 of a year after the fact?
edit: "who would win a velocitron speed race?" "can i put in a space station bcoz geosyncronous orbit?" are you f-ing kidding? answer the question like a human instead of a psychopath.
SG Roadbuster
i know that Gatomon/Angewoman toy tj is talking about. my partner has it.
she popped all of the angewomon wings and ribbons and stuff off the woman. and just, built a whole ass Gatomon out of it. and has them displayed next to each other.
Requiem Prime
I will forever bounce off Iron Factory designing so the default hands are the closed fists that can't hold their own weapons and are too often full stop required for transformation.
An Army of Bees
i forgot about that thumbnail
all will make sense with time
