Agreed I think, this is definitely going in the right direction. But I hope they build on what they have and create an over arching story with Decepticons, Megatron, the return of iconic Autobots, and of course a good story.
I thought Scourge and the others were absorbing the energy from NYC. Thus the blackout and the electric cannon Scourge uses to "kill" BB. Not to mention a knife to the back of the knee (Noah at the end) will definitely impact your force production.

I also think it's one of the best of course, I've got a few things against it, heck it's full of flaws ! but that doesn't stop me from loving it, after the scripted disasters that were the Bayverse films, ROTB does something simple and correct, but some people were expecting a Spielberg-level film I have the impression, whereas a simple return to the roots IS sometimes, what a franchise like Transformers needed the most.

Kinda thought this was the best one tbh. The robots had a lot more character than past films, and looked great too. The humans weren’t fucking annoying kids or dudes who were constant comic relief. The plot was straight forward instead of being convoluted.
In other words all that weird Michael Bay shit was absent while still having pretty good action.
My only problems were the usual about how Mirage is obviously supposed to be Hot Rod and I don’t know what the hell Wheeljack was supposed to be. But in the end I found it to be solidly written and paced. At no point did it feel like it was wasting my time with bullshit, which is what basically all the other movies did.

Saw it a bit ago. Was fun, but forgettable. More you think about it, less you like it, but still an hour and a bit of solid fun. Solid 5/10.
Sunbow Prime
Scourge stopped the axe with one hand and then pushed Optimus down to his knees (again with one hand). I remember thinking they'll probably have to boost Optimus or reduce Scourge's power level somehow to win, but it never happened.
He caught the axe attack and pushed him to his knees with one hand. It seemed like a large strength advantage that just…went away without explanation to me.

In one of the home video featurettes the director explains that Scourge is powered by Unicron's dark energy, whereas Optimus is powered by Primus' light energy. So I don't think Scourge is more powerful, it's just that Prime was initially expecting to go up against a regular enemy, but he was thrown off because he had never faced a threat like that before. I guess by the end of the movie Prime was able to understand how Scourge fights and beat him.
I do wonder if Scourge's mask was the source of his power in an earlier version of the script though. Like, as soon as Mirage knocks the mask off Scourge seems much easier to kill.

Maybe weakened during the switchback chase ? Outnumbered when Noah sneaks up behind him to injure him while he's already dealing with an enraged Prime ? And let's not forget that during the museum fight, various elements of the museum set were added that Scourge used to overpower Prime (notably the pillar to put him down), so I'm not going to try desperately to justify this film's flaws (it has many despite that I love it), but this kind of thing seemed…obvious to me.
Murasame
Very cool. But it would have been better without Optimus trying to or actually take heads.
Mirage seems to be basically Jazz and Mirage merged, but I still kept thinking of him as Jazz even though the holograms are Mirage's schtick. Hate that Bumblee yet again is a mute and again a Camaro.
But all in all, very cool movie.

Yeah, I would have preferred to see Optimus throughout the film insted of just showing up at the end.
Maybe the film would have been better.
Fenrys
1st fight he was a bit unprepared, and also out of practice since he's kind of been out of the fight for 7 years (no, Transit and the pile of dead Decepticons from the deleted scene don't count, it didn't make it to the final movie and is not canon), 2nd fight was a draw stopped by Airazor, 3rd fight Prime ended up winning. 1st and 2nd fights also had Prime's judgement clouded by self deprecation (due to getting himself and other stranded on Earth) whereas he was a bit more himself when the final fight rolled around. That's kind of his whole character arc in the movie, getting out of his funk and getting back in the fight.
bellpeppers
Because it wasn't until the end of the film that he had The Touch.

With the power of plot armor! Honestly it’s probably just lazy writing but I do have some sort of theory. I take it that Prime was likely caught off guard the first time and that’s why he lost. Maybe.
Aernaroth
He had the power of friendship, vengeance, and "the movie is ending in 15 minutes".
Sunbow Prime
How was Optimus strong enough to beat Scourge at the end based on how easily Scourge handled him in the first fight?
bellpeppers
Yes!
Exactly this!
Thank you!

Honestly, I can agree with this. Rotb was a better made film from a writing viewpoint, and on a second watch, i did enjoy rotb more than the first time, but its so average. As my wife said when she watched it, there was no wow to it. Tlk, you get those huge epic wow moments. And it is more entertaining, purely by just how batshit off the rails it goes. It may be a worse film, but its a more entertaining film.
Not just you. His voice does seem to go in and out of old man mode in this film for some reason (yes, i know hes an old man, but he doesn't sound it in parts of the film). My wife thought it was a different actor when he first started speaking.

I still think that if they had to reuse a face from the Bay movies for Optimus, then they should have used his AoE/TLK face

but preferably, he would have either not had a face, or had an entirely new design for a face. maybe one that was actually based on Peter Cullen, rather than just claimed to be
Tetratron
Noticed it too, seemed to go in and out depending on the scene. There were some instances I questioned where they accidentally left in a fill-in voice.

Bumblebee should have stayed dead. it was an emotional moment, served the plot well, and we've been having Bumblebee for so many years now. Mirage was brought in to be the new "face" and he was great. should have let Bee rest. Optimus killing Scourge and angrily ripping Bee's symbol off his shoulder has much less emotional impact since he knows Bee is fine anyway at this point
bringing Bee back was my only huge problem with the movie. lots of little stuff, but that was the only big one. Mirage was fine because his "death" and "rebirth" were handled in an interesting and unique way
I think bringing back Jablonsky's score at the end was a cheap move. it didn't fit the scene at all, so when I came on my only thought was "seriously…" I know it's a nostalgia grab for those who grew up with Bayformers, like me, but it just didn't work for me. its a different universe. it didn't fit the scene. it was just so out of place that I couldn't even enjoy the fact I was hearing his score again
different topic, but am I the only one who thought Optimus' voice was really odd in this movie? like they gave Peter Cullen some sort of vocoder after effects and it just sounds weird to me
