Newage Toys have updated their Weibo account to reveal images of their Newage H46EX Backdraft (Legends Scale Inferno Toy Ver) & H47EX Daedalus (Legends Scale Grapple Toy Ver).
These are G1-toy deco inspired versions H46 Backdraft (Inferno) and H47 Daedalus (Grapple). Both feature tampos and a new retooled face.
See all the new images after the break and let us know your impressions on the 2005 Boards!

Yeah, I got MP Artfire for that left of center approach, but originally only wanted Inferno, but since I'm all in for the EX, that was fine by me.
Now they gotta re-do the Datsun mold. I need a good Smokescreen and then hope they do comic versions.
But: good point!

Maybe not anticipated low sales. Perhaps NA saw the toon versions of those two selling in similar numbers, so they assumed collectors generally wanted both anyway, and that most people interested in the EX versions wouldn’t have bought either yet. That’s the case with me— the only one I had considered up to this point was Artfire.

Anyone heard anything on why the EX was a 2-pack now?
I would think low sale numbers, right?

Nothing wrong with mold itself but sometimes those screws can be too tight, and someone on here had a break because if it.
Calabask
Wait what’s the issue with this mold? Haven’t gotten it yet but I plan to.

Got my EX versions in today. As always with this mold, make sure to loosen the screws a smidge on the torso (the part where you spin the back half 180) and the head assembly (under the head itself, it's just pegged in) just in case so you don't overtighten/shear something!
(Posted this in the Hound thread by mistake, whoops!)

I wouldn’t buy any of those things, but the website shop is a great idea.
On second thought, a toy-style head for Brawn would be greatly appreciated, and one for Bumblebee might be enough to get me to bite on that figure, which has an overall design that I don’t really like.
I didn’t realize Soundwave’s arms had been revised at some point. I only own the EX version, but have no complaints.

While we’re on the topic of what upgrade parts we’d like NA to sell, I’d pay for Prime arm upgrades and a black double barreled gun for Ymir EX. And the upgraded arms for Soundwave for my toon original run.
I’m not gonna fork out for a couple more Primes and more trailers I don’t need, but I’d gladly pay for upgrade parts.
They should make their own website like Magic Square and sell the parts from there.

Yup… the EX’s are the only ones for which I’d prefer a clear windshield. For all the others, I’d want either frosted blue, dark blue, or opaque black. Oh, and a purple one for Hauler. And maybe frosted yellow for SG.
Frankly I wish NewAge would just sell a pack of replacement windshields. I’d gladly pay $10-20 for a dozen or so little windshields in various darker colors.

Also, selling the toon versions of these guys.
They're new & unopened.
$95 shipped for the pair. Lemme know.

Got my EX set in today. I love these dudes.

I can't imagine me ever wanting either of the EX versions over the glory that is Artfire, but I hope those who were waiting for them are happy with them (enough to buy the other as well). That Bulk-head gets worse every time I see it, though.

I like the clear windshield on the EX; it adds to the old toy vibe that fits this deco more than say, the toon version.

Inhand photos and comparisons of EX Grapple and Inferno from Mr. Sweet Daddy on Weibo:
Both appear to have higher saturated primary colors than the toon releases.

*sigh*… they ALL should have come with more "frosted/tinted" windshields, or even painted ones if they were gonna make it such an eyesore behind it.
i was hoping one day i'd have an all NA main characters collection, with extra characters from other brands on the side. but it looks like that won't happen as i don't think i will replace my MFT supposed "stand in" inferno and grapple.

For the curious, here is Inferno with Bulkhead's window (and how he should have looked like from the beginning!)

That would be my guess as well, but I'm curious to know for sure.

i might be wrong, but my guess is though they look similar, the colours will not be the same and there will be a slight difference. i'm basing that on the reg and EX release of devastator. ppl wanted to swap parts but the green was marginally different enough that they didn't quite match to do so.

Does anyone know if the main red and orange colors are the same on the 'toon and EX versions? They look to be, but I was curious if anyone knew for sure. (I had hoped GZ would show a side-by-side comparison.)

I'm torn on this release, on one hand they are EX and I'm willing to expand my EX NA collection, on the other they just not say much to me and I found Artfire a much more appealing color scheme plus is a single figure and so is cheaper… Decisions decisions.
