because we never had simple 4 legged animatronic toys before have we? The transformation is quite basic, robosapien we're doing walking remote control gorilla type robots since 2008 at least, going back further we had omega supreme in the 80's then followed up with trypticon, both "walked" and I'm expected to think it's a stretch to have got this primal to walk in either mode at this price point? the head "transformation" relies on gravity to rock that part of the transformation
Given u have kids and they like the toy I'm surprised that you haven't seen the quality of remote control robots at everyday prices for kids.
I like the look of the toy, I'm not criticising anyone who buys it (I mean I bought transform and rollout transformers prime massive converting figure back in the day) it's just over priced and preying on hype of the market which in 2023 should be more sophisticated

okay i give up, yes, the toy only needs some wheels under its feet and it could've been a walking toy
it just needed the wheels under the feet, and the entire function of the toy could have been an entirely different function, you got me
hasbro is lazy
just needed wheels under the feet
dumb hasbro

There is a Gorilla zoid actually. And sure walking motion with robot walk need balance. But in Gorilla mode isn't it quite easy to do?
They already program arm movement. They just need to make a fist in rubber, add 3 line for adhesive on the fist. Have small wheel under the feet, then the thing can walk.
Or might as well be on wheel with fake walking arm motion? Not that hard to do right? There a lot of cheaper toy that already do that.
Sure it's on wheel, with a fake leg motion but it's it's still look better than a toddler walking that robosen do. I'd prefer a fake motion than a toddler walk anyday but that's me.
My main argument here is that it's an overpriced toy for a little function this thing have, they can do more with that price.
It's didn't have to be at robosen level in the first place. Just a little bit more function to worth the price they asked for.
Something like Missile launchers, Walking motion for example.
And DX- Vrex I use as an example do just that.
Not a real walk? So what? Better than standing still no? I buy a $120 animatronics here, not a standstill brick.
Wow. Can't believed I need to explain this.
ScorponokIsHere
none of those walks around like a gorilla
that's just wind-up-toy motion
in order for primal, a toy that goes from biped to quadruped, to walk around and maintain its balance, would require advanced internal computers like robosen has
every "walking" toy pictured has immobile feet the size of Texas so the robot won't just immediately fall over, and I'm not sure that's a design alteration you'd accept on optimus primal
so yes, he'd require a robosen budget
EDIT: lol wait a second
Looked up that second one: hahaha ha, that thing does NOT walk
(skip to 1:30)
That's just a unileg on wheels with fake leg panels on it
d'okay. Sure
Wow

Well, there this thing called Zoids. Which can walk.

And some can even do a simple transform(about the same level as Primal transformation), have sounds and light feature.(Some can remote control) At a price range of between $40 – $100.
And another example from Sentai franchise.
DX-V-rex robo. This thing can transform, voice commands. Shoot missile and walk, have remote control, have sound effects. Basically same feature but better. Price at $100-$120 when release age ago.
So yeah, it's indeed a rip off. But that Hasbro for you.
PS.I'm still getting Primal though. I'm a sucker for Beast wars so I've no choice
PixelMagic
I know this is tongue in cheek, but my local Targets and Wal-Mart BARELY have any ROTB product. Not because it's selling out, but because they didn't stock it to begin with. Just one little palette of the most basic stuff. No Voyagers even.

i'm having trouble taking seriously the toy recommendations of a guy who thinks a $100 electronic toy could move around like a gorilla "easily"
(BTW, we have this toy and my kids are endlessly fascinated with it)
krysuk
no it's not Robosen, it's also not £130 worth of robotics and engineering, for 1/5 price of robosen smaller prime I would expect 1/5 the engineering, this isn't that, it's a rip off and a wasted opportunity for a toy at this price point
Afterburner
My local stores literally cannot handle the levels of demand this video has brought.
MrLemming
As I said in Emgo’s review, hard pass. Just too expensive for how cheap it looks and the voice “actor” they got is just bleh. And to boot it doesn’t actually respond to you, it literally just listens for a loud enough noise and spits out a random line. Frequently the same lines repeatedly.
Confused Millennial
And unlike many of the other films in the meat grinder that is the Summer 2023 box office, Transformers has lots of other ways to make money. The Flash or Indiana Jones are still very dependent on ticket sales, which have been iffy this year if you’re not named Mario or Miles Morales, so it makes sense that Hasbro is doubling down on non-movie product.
Pixelmaster
It’s called self awareness
Bakarina
His excitement is palpable.
zannus
Kinda annoyed they didn't have Mirage instead of Bumblebee, but otherwise it's an ok promo
ZapRowsdower
Anyone else feel this is in poor taste?
"Transformers was a 25 min toy commercial disguised as a cartoon!"
It's hard to deny those statements when you're literally paying the movie actors to plug the toys.
Why not pay a non-RotB actor to plug the toys, instead? It's not like the face matters; only the level of celebrity. But I guess the RotB actors are just cheap and easy to use.

It looks ridiculous but it's kind of got a cheesy charm to it. If I were an upper middle class parent with one or two kids who already have a bunch of "regular" transformers to play with, I would no doubt buy this as a sort of flashy special toy that stands out for special occasions.
OptimusPrimefan563
Now that\'s a pretty cool toy! I hope its available in the Philippines!
ScorponokIsHere
pretty sure the difference between "stands there and transforms back and forth" and "actually moves around like a monkey" is, like, several hundred dollars
it's not a robosen
