We have an unexpected update of the new Transformers One animated movie. We finally got some updates of this project at Cinemacon 2023 event including the confirmed voice cast which got the attention of fans due to the big names involved. Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime for example.
According to a Deadline article: “Paramount has pushed back the release date for Transformers One, the newest animated feature in the Transformers franchise that was unveiled at CinemaCon in April. The origin story from director Josh Cooley, previously set to open on July 19, 2024, will now bow nationwide on September 13, 2024.”
The reasons for this slight change are still unclear. You can read the full article here or a text-only version after the break. Share your impressions on the 2005 Boards!
Paramount has pushed back the release date for Transformers One, the newest animated feature in the Transformers franchise that was unveiled at CinemaCon in April. The origin story from director Josh Cooley, previously set to open on July 19, 2024, will now bow nationwide on September 13, 2024.
Hailing from Paramount Animation, Hasbro and eOne, Transformers One tells the story of how a young Optimus Prime (Chris Hemsworth) and Megatron (Brian Tyree Henry) went from being brothers-in-arms to sworn enemies. Also starring are Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne, who are respectively voicing Elita, Bumblebee, Sentinel Prime and Alpha Trion.
Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari wrote the script, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian and Aaron Dem serving as producers. Pic’s exec producers are Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Brian Oliver, Bradley J. Fischer and Valerii An.

It’s unknown about continuity but my guess is still it’s its own thing.
I am also. With it being animation I could see some of the designs looking good with generations stuff.

Moved to later. Thats not good. Has any news come out on if this is in a Transformers Universe we know. Like G1. Or is this just one more dumb reboot.

Yeah seeing alt mode/robot direction would be nice as Cybertronian modes are kinda a mixed bag. Some are the "logical but not exactly appealing" bayverse types which basically turn into a crunched up robot.
Bootleg versions of their normal alts and the final and rare "intergrated alt mode" which actually plays with them being a robot since this type of alt mode isn't a disguise usually.
It would be nice to have a movie that favors clean transformations for once; as cool as nonsense messes of panels trying to hide as they fade/appear from reality are.

They will probably transalte really well with the studio series. Plus all the better if they are working close with the vfx team of the movie.

Im so curious to see the final character designs so we can get a sense of how well they might translate to toys. Hopefully the animation style and alien alt modes lend to this too.
Either way, I’m sure we can count on 3rd party companies to pull it off with inside-out conversions.

Today is wild. Good news about ROTB reviews yet bad news of a delay for this movie.

interesting new date, it will be to avoid competition, due to the writers' strike

Okay.

We have so little on this movie at this point that it's not "real" to me yet lol. So any delay is almost nothing in my mind.

Animated films don’t need to be big box office hits but I definitely think so, especially the Mufasa one.
Fc203
Wow what a load of crap, but I definitely see the general audiences watching that over an animated transformers movie.
TF Hot Rod
Looking it up all I see is Despicable Me 4, Thunderbolts (which is probably delayed now due to writers strike) and the Mufasa Lion King prequel.
Hoffman
There are Despicable Me and Lion King movies scheduled for July right now, on the animation front.
Fc203
What movies are releasing next July?
TF Hot Rod
I’m fine for the delay, only 2 months. Better for us and Hasbro that it wasn’t delayed another year like ROTB was.
Edit:
Oh shit, that cool! What a way to coincide for the 40th anniversary.
